Is has a hard back but rubber sides to save my phone from damage. There are protective flaps the open to allow connects to the USB power connector and the earphone. The case is strong but allows the wireless chargers to work. I took the case off after 6 months of use and the phone still looks like new.

I typically get the Defender series but was out of stock due to Best Buy’s Black Friday sale. I opted to get the Commuter series case as a backup with plans to purchase the Defender at a later date, but after using it for a few days I decided to keep it as my primary case due to the quality and protection it provided.

I drop my phone pretty regularly and the commuter worked perfectly. I have just purchased a Samsung Note 9 and also purchased the commuter to go with it. I haven't dropped my phone yet, but I expect it to work similarly to previously purchased versions. The pen is slightly encumbered by the case, but I am able to remove it. Just not as easily as I would like. I would recommend this case.

Great protective case

I am very prone to dropping my phone and I have dropped this phone countless times already and the case has protected my "investment" very well. The only downside to this case is that you don't get to see your beautiful phone. My fix to this is to put a skin on the case and make it a little more colorful and unique.

However, i am becoming less impressed with Otterbox as they add so much bulk to your phone and make it uncomfortable for everyday use. I don't use this case for this reason, i use a thinner Spigen case... but i have it and would chose to put it on if i were doing something rugged were i wanted more protection.
