Looking to protect iPad from wife and toddler granddaughter. Both like to drop things. ;-) The case is a bit heavy but seeing that the iPad Air was dropped to the floor within 48 hours of being encased in the OtterBox, I think it was a good investment. Protects the electronics and the screen from most accidental mishandling.

I love my otter box it is a very protective case. It protects the front and back.

The case is not to bulky. Just the right width too fit in a tote or purse...

This case covers my iPad and keeps it safe. It's durable and has a built in stand. I wouldn't trust another case for it!

It's great, but it lbs not the right size for my apple 2, the guy at Best Buy was misinformed, because I bought the two products at the same time, just haven't found time to exchange it.

I bought this case when I first purchased the iPad Air (for which I also have a review on here), because I had that need to really protect my expensive investment. The case, once set up, is extremely well built. Holding the case while using it gives a real sense that this iPad is well protected from all of the small interruptions that can potentially damage the iPad's quality. Some reviewers (not just here) have complained about the added weight, but it is honestly a non-issue once it's used for a while, meaning you won't notice the iPad being any heavier than before. The included detachable "shell", which can attached on either side of the iPad to protect its front or back, makes this purchase even better. Not only does it provide another layer of protection, but it also doubles as a two-position stand for the iPad that you can lay on a flat surface. Setting this case up was a bit confusing, since the instruction manual was not detailed as I thought it was. In addition, once you place the iPad Air inside the case, you'll wonder about the difficulty of taking it back out (should you ever have the need to). Also, there is dust that accumulates from behind the case's screen protector, but it doesn't become noticeable once the screen is on and in use.

I had seen the name otter box before, but had never purchased one. I was concerned that it would be like other cases, hard to put on, or maybe worse. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it was to install. It seems to do well to protect the Ipad. And the stand that is part of the cover is convenient. I plan to use it to cover the ipad completely in my carry on when I travel.

What else could be said about anything Otter Box® makes. It is simple the BEST on the market for protection of your electronic devices. Perfect fit, high quality and worth every penny!. I use the build in stand all the time. It holds my iPad Air securely and the choice of angles are a definite plus. If your looking for a case for your tablet look no further, you have found it!

I just wish they could make a case that does not weight 3 pound! It is tough and if you break your iPad with this case on it, then most likely it is user error. However, I am in sales and require the case to do my job and feel like I am going to get carpal tunnel from it. It would be a 5 if they would do 3 things 1)CHEAPER! the iPad was $187 (ipad air on sale) the case $89----Hold on WHAT? 2)weight; it is heavy and I am 6'2 220 3)it needs a swivel strap for your hand. My perception is that OtterBox is the best and should, for the price have all the bells and whistles.

Love, love, love this case. I bought one for my iPad mini last year, so when I got my iPad Air last month I knew I wanted another OtterBox Defender case. Got this one on sale (which was a bonus) but would have paid full price. It is so worth it when you consider it is a screen protector, case, and stand in one. Love that it is two pieces so you can completely enclose the screen when it is not being used. I can throw it in my purse or bag and not worry that the screen protector will get all scratched up from my keys or anything else. I also love how durable it is. My children have dropped my iPads many times (which I am not recommending), and the iPads have been completely protected in these cases. It does make the iPad heavier and bulkier, but I prefer protection over sleekness! This case is a must for anyone with kids or anyone that does not coddle their iPad.

My mom needed a case for her iPad Air. She needed something that would stand up to a 4 year old and this is perfect. It protects very well and the stand has many positions. My neice can use it without my mom having to worry about it being damaged. It's a little heavy, but my 4 year old niece has no problem with it. It is PERFECT!!!

It was a bugger to apply to my new iPad Air. Frustrating, actually. YouTube to the rescue and it was a piece of cake. It has a flaw inside of the glass protector, a tiny scratch. I may have caused it during the application but it doesn't bother me. It's bulky and no OtterBox is pretty but, it provides outstanding protection.

The only protection I use for my Apple products. It's worth the money and the built in stand is great. I only wish more colors were available. I used other brands but they really don't come close. Its a little bulky but withstands a beating.

This case is definitely worth the money in both design and in durability. The attached cover that doubles as a stand is very sturdy and well made and the viewing angles that the stand provides are actually useful, unlike most other cases. The only quibble I have is that the case does not protect 'all' of the iPad ( just like the phone versions ) It covers the Apple Logo with the same tough plastic screen that the front screen uses but leaves the camera lens and microphone completely open. Presumably to keep the quality of the camera intact and not to obstruct the Mic input. Though, to be fair, many other cases have a slide out portion of the case that accomplishes this quite nicely and protects the entire iPad. The rubber case surround does a wonderful job of protecting the iPad from bumps and bruises and covers the important connectors like the Lightning port and the headphone jack but leaves the Mic and Speakers open to the elements. For the price of the case, it would have been nice to see the speakers, Mic, and Camera covered with the same kind of fold open rubber covers that the other parts benefit from to make this a truly impervious case. Very well made and designed.

High priced case but worth every penny for the level of protection it provides. Only negative is added bulk and weight but it’s a necessary evil.

Otterbox does not disappoint with this iPad Air case. Fits perfectly and easy to put on. Provides all around protection with a slim design. Stand is a nice bonus.

This case and iPad Air replaced my husband's 2nd Gen. iPad and Apple's own cover (vs. case). So because the device itself was significantly lighter and thinner, the extra weight of the case didn't matter. Besides, he really just uses his iPad at home and wanted protection if dropped on the tile floors, so weight wasn't a big concern. If you're really looking for light and minimal, this may not be the case for you. The case was WAY less money than the Lifeproof cases, and we think it's good quality. We wanted the screen covered/protected and Lifeproof Nuud didn't offer that.

I did a lot of research this is my third Ipad, in this case for my 11 y/old as a requirement for school. they only accepted 3 brands and after comparing I chose this one, most sturdy, clean view and user friendly. Only critic is little bit heavy.

Wish I had purchased this before my iPad Air screen got cracked! After getting it repaired I purchased the Otter Box Defender case. It is great. Gives me a better grip on the iPad and fully protects it from bumps and bangs while traveling when the front cover is in place. I also like that the front cover doubles as a stand. I read a few reviews where people felt the case made the buttons and ports hard to access. I haven't had any problems with that. Once the iPad is properly snapped into the case all of the ports and buttons lined up perfectly.
