This is the first time in my life that I've left a 1 star review for any product. First off, the plastic inner shell is extremely thin, most notably the front frame, and the silicone outer sleeve and bumper design isn't much better either. Second, I might as well say what everyone else already has and thats the fact that the defender cases no longer come with protective screens. Instead they now sell them separately at approximately 50 dollars, which is too high. When i first got this case, all seemed well, but after a couple of months, the front frame cracked from a few drops that were honestly no more than 4 feet. Eventually after a few months, i dropped the phone accidentally by no more than three feet onto concrete and the phone's glass broke in the same corner where the plastic frame of the case had cracked. I get the feeling that the crack in the plastic frame stressed it to a point where the phone screen shattered. But the thing is, this shouldn't have happened, especially with what the asking price of these cases are. How do I know this? I once had a defender case for the galaxy s3 and it took a beating and a half, and yet the phone inside was in pristine condition. It pains me to say this, but this is a significant downgrade from otterbox's previous cases. The defender series is one of the most durable cases in the world and frankly ive never been so disappointed in a phone accessory. I dont have a problem with paying lots of money for a phone case, but if i do, it better be extremely well made and be able to take some major abuse. Quality, otterbox, quality. That's what is most important. I feel compromises in terms of durability were made in favor of ergonomics. Some complain that the defender series is too bulky, in which case i recommend the commuter series. The whole point of the defender series is to be the cream of the crop in terms of phone protection. If i were otterbox, i would introduce a new series of cases that is above the defender series and is the ultimate in ruggedness, even if it costs 150 bucks or so, i dont care, id happily pay it. C'mon, otterbox, you can do it. You're one of the most respected and well known phone case brands in the industry. Make new cases that kick even the lifeproof stuff to the curb (and please include a screen this time). Anyway, i can't recommend this case. I hope otterbox sees this review and i hope ive helped some of you best buy shoppers. Below you can see the top of the frame which is completely broken off now.

I purchased this case for my new Samsung Galaxy S8+, and this is the BEST CASE that I have ever owned. I love the way that it protects BOTH the front and back of the phone. This case is very durable and looks great.

From first getting the phone to applying this, you'll feel so relieved that it won't feel like your brand new phone's going to fall right out of your hands anymore. I fully endorse & recommend Otterbox phone AND tablet cases. My only complaint with this series of cases they produced, is that they no longer come with those easy to apply screen protectors that they used to have. Granted, you had to clean them once in a while, but they were definitely a nice feature.

Would be 5 stars of it came with the screen protector. Unfortunately otter box is making you but it separately. Great quality and protection. Easy to put on and take off.

I bought the more expensive version with the belt clip because it had a rubber case surrounding the phone. I would never use the belt clip. I am too clumsy and would surely knock it off. The case is an excellent fit and feels very secure in the hands. Excellent quality. No access to SD card with case in place. Also, using the adapter for Samsung Smart Switch that comes with phone requires being out of the case but that is just a one time deal anyway. Overall case is excellent protection.

Good case for the Galaxy S-8+. 3 piece case for added durability and is easy to snap phone into place. Although It doesn't have screen protection, you can go with Skaggs curved glass to protect the screen and will work along side this case for improved protection.

Great case for those who are rough on their devices. Only minor complaint is the rubber backing will stretch out over time. This is replaced without question by Otterbox though without much difficulty.

It is great and protects the phone well. It is not too bulky and gives excellent protection and is easy to use.

This is my second Otter Box. I bought this because I was very impressed with the protection provided by the first one. I dropped the phone several times on hard surfaces with no damage to the phone. This version does not have a screen protector. I recommend one to protect the screen from horizontal blows. I very much like the belt clip. Very secure, yet easy to access the phone. It can be adjusted to any position from perfectly vertical to horizontal. Highly recommended

The defender series has been reliable way to keep my phone pristine from day one until it's time for my next upgrade. I've never considered buying another brand. This time around, I was disappointed to find that no screen protector was included. They offer an alpha glass protector, but it's expensive and as far as know, it doesn't come with a lifetime replacement warranty like the competition does. I'm loyal to otterbox for their outstanding protection, may go elsewhere to purchase a screen protector for my expensive Samsung Galaxy S8+.

I’ve tried other Samsung branded cases in the past, and they didn’t provide enough protection for drops. This case is rugged and I don’t fear dropping my phone anymore. It also looks nice.

I swear by my otter box i.m a electricain and break my phones at work all the time. Last year I broke six, no matter how careful I am the harder I try the faster I break it. So when I got my Samsung s8+ I made sure I had a case before I had the phone.my s4 I literally broke before it was activated once I got it repaired the guy told me about otterbox.i didn't beleive a case would make that much difference. After my second screen broke I gave in and bought one, if anyone puts it to the test it's me. After I bought the otterbox I didn't buy another screen I had the s4 for a year and a half before I lost it. I've had my s8 for three months now. I've dropped my phone and kicked it across the room, I've dropped it off a fully extended 20 foot scissor lift it hit the floor directly on the corner I thought for sure it was broke. I had to squeeze the case back together but the phone was untouched. I will always make sure there's a otterbox for any phone before I buy it. For the price of a otterbox I save way more on not buying screens or paying a monthly insurance which I always exceed the allowable limit any way

I bought this otterbox defender series case for myself. I really like the gray with the turquoise color. I’m have gotten several compliments. It’s lightweight and slim. Which is great. Also protects from scatches and drops. I will be going back to look for pink in black. And an orange one for my daughter. It’s also great if you spend most of your time outdoors. It’s shock resistant which it is a must for me.

I actually purchased this case for my brother, and he loves it. However, I feel that OtterBox cases are definitely overpriced but I know quite a few people who love them. My brother's screen broke while int he case, and also has a substantial amount of dust in the screen part... he has to take the case off regularly to clean it out. Not exactly what I would want for such an expensive case, when I can find similar, if not better, cheaper online.

This case is great! Unlike the old ones it doesn't have the built in protective screening so you're able to still feel the actual screen and get the protection Otterbox is known for!

This is used during work at a construction site, but since it's a bit bulky, I switch it back to my regular case outside of work. I feel comfortable using this case during work as I've dropped my phone a couple of times and it's fine.

Fits great. Easy to put on or take off, if needed. I like the protection Otter Box provides my phone.

I have been using Otterbox products for many years and when I purchased my Samsung S8 with the curved screen, I decided to try a leather portfolio style case. The first time I dropped the phone, the screen cracked. After having the screen repaired, I went right back to the Otterbox again. This works very well without a screen protector and I have had absolutely no damage issues since I purchased this.

Strong and durable case. I'm rough with my stuff. I can freely throw my cell into my purse with the added protection and not worry if my screen gets scratch or broken.
