Just like every Otterbox Defender, it protects from any accidental drop. It does make that slim and sleek iPhone bulky.

4 star because you can't Qi charge with the case on, but protective wise, its Excellent. I have always purchased Otter cases because they have proven me to be reliable when i drop my phone. Hope you don't mind bulky though.

The reason why OtterBox is so popular is because they are simply the best when it comes to phone protection. I cannot tell you how many times I have accidentally dropped my phone and no damage. This is my 2nd case for my second phone. I did have to get a replacement for my 1st otterbox and it’s true, they replace for free. Just go online, enter your info, and pay for shipping. (I wish you didn’t have to pay for shipping.) I am a loyal customer!

I've had iPhones protected with OtterBox Defenders for years. I've had a phone run over with a full sized pick-up. I've had an iPhone 4 that was lost in a snow bank for about 3 months until the snow melted. Both of the phones worked fine after the abuse. I've had countless drops from various heights. I had a guy try to throw my phone to me while I was on a roof and he didn't quite make it to me so the phone fell to the ground. The only thing I'd recommend is getting a screen protector.

Is it big and bulky? Yes. But there's nothing else that is going to protect that new $1000 phone like it. I work alot installing electrical lines and video/data systems. I'm not going to risk my iPhone XS Max to some thin, plastic shell of a case. I want something that will save it from all the knocks of my job. Is there a downside? Of course. It's not what I would want to use if I'm putting on a suit and tie and going out. But Otter Box makes other cases better suited for those things.

I bought the OtterBox Defender for my daughter's iPhone. The iPhone is an expensive investment that goes everywhere with her and needs the best protection. Through out the years my children's iPhones have always been in OtterBox Defenders. I have never had any problems. Phones have been dropped while riding bikes; dropped while jogging; fell to ground when left on roof of car; thrown by angry boyfriends, etc. iPhone never harmed.

I love this Otterbix case. Well made, sturdy yet pretty. I love the color. I feel like my new iPhone X’s max is protected.
