This is a great movie. If it werent for trailers, it would be an even better experience. The reason being that Overlord starts in one genre and then takes you into another. And both genres are represented in great detail and amazing special effects. Even the stunts, fight scenes and such are brutal. I’m purposely trying hard not to spoil it so that if you like being surprised you will be. Grab some popcorn, your favorite person (or watch it alone) and enjoy!

    A tale of 'What if?'

I bought this because it starred the actor who plays Fitz in Marvel's Agents of Shield. However, his role isn't the biggest although very important. I knew the premise but was surprised at how long it took to get to the expected action, because the film-makers took the time to tell a story, so you actually gave a darn about the protagonists when the poop finally hits the fan...hard. Unexpectedly good.

I enjoyed this. Take it for what it is. Enjoyable b move trash made on a good budget. It's about 70% war film 30% horror film. Excellent production values and FX work. The blu ray only has 1 extra which is very good. 50 min making of but it really could have been 90 mins to let you see more of the practical FX etc. Switch your brain off and enjoy it for being a big budget b movie.

    More War than Zombies

Although this film was advertised as a zombie flick, Overlord feels more like a WWII movie with a science fiction twist. Hardly any “zombies”. I will say that there was a wonderful use of practical and special effects that made the movie special on it’s own. Very entertaining, with a strong opening that makes you hold your breath. Please don’t expect 28 Days Later zombies.

I'll preface this review with the fact that I am not big on horror movies. Most of them are cheesy low budget "jump scare" type movies that I tend to avoid. I was intrigued by this movie since I spent most of my twenties playing COD: N*zi Zombies, and this is pretty much the film version of it. Pilou Asbaek isn't wasted in this role like he was as Euron Greyjoy...

On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion's success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in their enemy's occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a human experiment.

This movie has one of the more visually stunning intros I've seen in a movie in quite some time. Unfortunately the visuals don't hold up the entire way, but the movie is still a fun horror-ish, action movie. Great cast. They were awesome together. Really saw in theaters to support the actor who plays Fitz in Agents of Shield lol. Wasn't disappointed.

The suspense at the beginning and at least hall-way through is very high and well-maintained. Acting good. When the bad guys appeared they were so exaggeratedly bad they we comical. Still, the action, players, all pretty good (spoiler) if you can forgive the last 1/3 when the zombie-like critters appear. I enjoyed it, my wife didn't like the zombies.

A small group of soldiers get the mission to take down a radio tower in a castle outside a small European village, the day before d-day. Mission is simple until they find that the Germans are experimenting on the villagers to make them into some kind of monsters. It gives you a good scare. The story is original. The effects are really good.

This is a World War II movie ... about zombies. It starts with the beginning of the Overlord operation, the parachuting in of Army Airborne to take out certain targets prior to the D-Day landings. Some soldiers arrive in a small town to find their target next to a German-run lab. And then the “fun” begins. Lots of tension. Good acting. Good story.

This review is not for the content of the movie. It’s for the 4K release. I got this transfer because it keeps showing up on the “best 4ks” releases. I agree. The sound and picture are great. If you’re a fan of the movie and have the setup to take advantage of the HDR and surround get this version. It’s noticeably better than the blu ray and worth the upgrade.

Overlord delights any horror enthusiast as paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines on D-Day in this sci-fi horror extravaganza. Those who purchase the 4K UHD disk and have the required equipment can take advantage of the Dolby Vision & Dolby Atmos soundtrack as I did which makes it well worth the upgrade from regular Blu-Ray and immerse the viewer in terrifying audio bliss!

Amazing movie, the opening scene alone is worth the 4K purchase, and it being on sale was a huge plus. I couldn't think of a better movie to kick off my 4K movie experience on my new 4K UHD TV. Big let down that they decided to cut it out of the Cloverfield universe, but hey, still an awesome movie and a great standalone.

As you may know already, this is not a war movie. And that's the point of this movie. Plot can be easily predictable. But you can enjoy it as Friday night popcorn movie. It looks like there are some deleted scenes from still images, but they cannot be included in Extra menu (or at least, I could not find them)

A thrilling ride from start to finish. The change in story from war to sci-fi zombie horror is done well even though trailers ruin the surprise. The make up effects are gruesome as hell with crazy good cgi mixed into the actors faces and body. Had this not been the case the tension and suspense from the visuals would’ve made this a 3 or 4 star movie.

Well this movie didn't have a leading actor running around like they had a loaded diaper, that's for sure. I was so hyped to watch the carnage and in the long wait I might have had higher expectations, but still there was atmosphere and action, especially from a woman that knows how to heat up the moment. Watch and see.

Let’s get to the point It starts off very very well, and then it stumbles a bit in the middle of the movie. It pickes it up and it gets crazy. Don’t be expecting a full blown zombie movie. It’s not. But it’s a Great War movie with a mix of the undead. People compare this more to call of duty zombies. Don’t, it feels more like the Wolfenstein games

This film had me on the edge of my seat from the tense opening scene aboard a fighter aircraft to the suspenseful quiet moments of humanity scattered between action sequences. While it's not terrifying in a horror movie kind of way, it's an incredible war film with disturbing and realistic terror. I absolutely loved it.
