Small Game For The Price, But Fun!

The standard Xbox One title price of $60 ($48 for the Gamer's Club Members) is a bit more than the game's worth given it's small size. It lacks multiple game modes for it's price. You're (currently) restricted to playing others online in the standard online matches, private matches constructed to your pleasure, facing A.I. on a set difficulty, and a playlist with set restrictions/ modifiers (such as limiting players to the characters they can use, ability cooldown rates, health, etc.) that change out weekly. There's really not enough variety to be worth the money. If you've got friends who you'd play the game with, this would be a game geared towards just that. Given how much the game relies on having structure to the team in order to win, having friends to work with and communicate with makes things a whole lot easier; particularly in PvP games more so than A.I. matches. If you go alone with the intention to win, you're at a gamble as players do have a tendency to play as characters that do not help with the structure of your team. However there are chances that you get a team of players who know what role to fill in the game to help achieve victory. Personally, character balancing feels off. It all would depend on your take of it, but if you're one who has a tendency to play class-based PvP games and feel as though some classes have so much going for them while others get the short end of the stick, there's a chance you may feel the same way about this game. This is personal preference though. Lastly, unlocking items in game is nothing but either a grind or pay-to-unlock. You only unlock items crates (which contain a variety of rarities of: character skins, character voice-lines, user emblems, character spray tags, and in-game currency) solely through leveling-up (in the state the game is in now) which is not a quick thing to do. Performing well in PvP matches is the fastest way to level up and even then leveling up feels like a long and tedious process. You also get the option to purchase item crates at a premium. Overall, the performance of the game and the general concept is fun. It's not necessarily something that'll keep you playing hours-on-end, but it's a neat game. Maybe wait for a good sale or a price drop though if you can wait unless Blizzard decides to give an update that'll expand the game exponentially.

This game is incredible. I've logged over 100 hours already and it will only get better once new characters and maps are introduced for free. Speaking of that, they just introduced Ana; a healing sniper and she completely changes team compositions on all maps. It's almost as if the maps got a refresh if she's involved because the tactics and strategy changes as well. Sure Blizzard over nerfs some classes or in this case heroes, while others remain over powered, but it doesn't matter that much here. Remember to always switch up your characters to counter your opposition, follow the objectives and don't worry about the guy with 20 health retreating. It's team based, not 6 rambos vs 6 rambos. You'll know when you face a well coordinated team because they'll steamroll your team and the match will be over in minutes. The solution? Buy a headset! You don't have to talk up a storm like some players, but call out enemy locations or spawn campers. It makes night and day difference and it will ease frustrations. People complain that the game is too expensive for an online only shooter, but I think these people forget Blizzards track record with computer games over the years. They support their games for years so you can buy with confidence that this game will be fully supported for years to come. Insanely addicting and worth every penny.

I was lucky enough to play the beta of the game before it was released so I did know what I was getting when buying it (I don't think I would have bought it without having played the beta). I was originally on the fence between Overwatch and Battleborn, but went with Overwatch because that's what my friends decided on and because I enjoyed the beta. Since we've gotten this game I think we have played every single day for at least 2 hours, we've never really played a game that often (at least a few of us because of work and school commitments in the mornings). Something that I do enjoy about the game that's a small thing is that the "Loot Box" that you get everytime you level up and that people can buy are purely aesthetic items and none really help with extra skills or anything, so it's really impossible to pay more and be able to do more in the course of playing the game. I think saying that I would recommend this game is a really simple way of putting it, really you should go buy this game now cause it is super addicting.

This game offers hours of fun through detailed maps and a ton of team comp options. If you like FPS games with a variety of characters with different abilities, you will really enjoy this game. All games are objective based and KDA scores are not public so only you know how bad you're doing. If you aim for objectives and work with your team to any degree, you can succeed.

    It gets old

I played the beta of this game and thought the game was fun, but nothing spectacular. After the game came out and the great reviews started to pour in, I decided to buy it because a few friends of mine had it and said nothing but good things about Overwatch. Now that I've had it for a couple of months, I honestly don't see the appeal. Don't get me wrong, the game is fun in a mindless kind of way: you're not saving the planet from an invading force; rescuing someone; or on a quest to fulfill your destiny. You're there to shoot people (and robots, cyborgs, apes, and whatnots), period! Yes, you're supposedly "heroes", that are "needed again"... but that's as much of the background story as you'll get. There's no SP campaign, so you'll jump into the MP meat of it from the get go (plus some training modes, just to test out your characters). My main gripe with Overwatch, is the lack of game modes. For a game that only has MP, 3 game modes seems (IMHO) lacking. On the bright side, it has a decent number of maps and a very healthy choice of characters. On the down side (for me), it gets old relatively fast.

Originally, I bought this for the PS4 when it released and had a blast. I had so much fun that I got my wife into the game and now I had to buy my own copy for the X1. The character designs, level environments, gameplay are all unique. Unlike most modern day shooters, this game requires team effort. Great game by Blizzard for all ages.

    Great Multi-Player Game for Teens

We purchased this as a Christmas gift for our teenage son. He really enjoys playing first-person shooter games and because of his age and level of maturity, we do some background checking on types of games and their ratings prior to allowing him to play them. This is a game he plays with his grandfather, who also has an Xbox. Xbox doesn't have a lot of T or E-rated games so we were happy to find this one not only because our son was interested in it but also because of its rating.

Playing overwatch gives you so much faith in a fps type game. So many characters and all with different abilities makes for the game to last much longer. Free dlc, balanced characters for the most part, and a good size 6 vs. 6 team size make for great gameplay.

Best Multiplayer Game Put Right Now

Each character has their strengths and weaknesses, and depending on the setting, you'll need to maneuver their traits in a tactical and skillful way. It's as much a first person shooter than it is a strategy game. Take for example Lucio - he is a medic that heals and self-heals at a rate that is determined on movement with your team. You can flip his trait to either be a medic or you can switch to a more speedy version of homself that fires faster and moves quicker. Speed is a huge advatage in this game. It is a difference maker when you are in a tight picked after a firefight, or when you defeated foes and need health quickly. Then there is Bastian a robot that transforms to a Gatling gun that is stationary from a moving highly effective 20 round machine gun. Being stationary has its advantages and disadvantages because it's very powerful, but your enemies can gang up on you to disturb your path of destruction. These are just two characters out of 21 and each of these ecelctic heroes comes their benefits and weak points. Once you master a particular player something inside pushes you to master another. Then, winning is the last thing left to do.

Being made by Blizzard I knew this game was going to have polish, but darn if it isn't just an amazing game to boot. The characters all have an extremely unique feel and there isn't a one that I dislike, picking a favorite is hard! Been having a blast being a hero alongside my buddies on Xbox live. A must have game for sure.

    Great Fantasy FPS

I've played this on PC since release and recently purchased this as a gift for my nephew for Christmas. Long story short this is a fantasy FPS with different characters and classes. Not comparable to call of duty or battlefield etc. You play as a champion with their own set of 2-3 moves and one Ultimate move. Every move has a cool down timer on it besides your ultimate move. Your ultimate move charges faster for capturing objectives and getting kills. There's two main game modes (and then there's arcade mode and other game modes they rotate and introduce weekly) One mode you pretty much escort a cargo payload. You first need to capture the point where it's being held at and then once you capture it you need to take it all the way to the end point and along the way there's checkpoints. If you don't take it back your team loses and then you switch sides to defending. Whoever delivers the payloads the fastest or the furthest wins. The second one plays like any other capture the point. First team to cap the point to 100 wins. It's one capture point and both teams must fight over and defend against the other. There's 5 different classes from Attacking, defending, tanks healers and supports. Each champion has their own kit. Some champs have a counter. Each one has their own pros and cons and unique ultimate. New champs get added about once or every other month for free. If you're into fantasy FPS you can play this game all day. I prefer about an hour or two before I get bored. Other than that great game especially if you can get it on sale. Easily worth $40

Overwatch is a great first person shooter. I'm amazed how many characters there are in Overwatch is a great first person shooter. I'm amazed how many characters there are and each one plays uniquely. The balance of the characters is excellent. Playing in groups is lots of fun as long as everyone sticks to the role.

Overwatch is the first FPS in a long time that I enjoy playing for more than a week. It is a blast to play with friends and the last game I had this much fun playing online was Call of Duty World at War's Zombie mode. If you have friends, like FPS, and like diverse characters and abilities, this is the game for you.

After watching a few gameplay videos and reading a lot of posts in forums, I decided to jump in. The tutorial was pretty basic, even placing the easiest hero to use as a tutorial character. There is a training grounds in which you can take any hero and test out their abilities, but I decided to join a multiplayer mode instead. I first tried the mode Play vs A.I. where you are paired with other players and go against CPUs. The matches would fly by rather quickly, due to the A.I. not fairing to well against 6 people. I then jumped into the mystery battle that was going on at the time, where upon death the game would switch you to a different hero. I found myself learning how the entire cast of heroes played fairly quickly, while being able to test them out. This may have been the mode that assured me that I would be playing this game for a long time. The heroes are pretty varied and interesting, both in gameplay style and unique desing, and they all feel fun to play. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you have friends to play with.

Overwatch isn't your typical shooter, and that's what makes it so much fun. There are a bunch of different character types to play as, with just about something for every type of play style. Work together as a team to take objectives. It's a fun game anyone can pick up and play, but a difficult one to master.

A team based shooter where unique characters have roles and abilities in a rock paper scissor style class system; Tanks are great against attackers/defenders, sniper subclass are best against tanks, medics are best when used with high DPS teammates, its easy to learn how to play with certain characters. If you're not performing well with a certain character, the game allows you to change to another hero and try again.

Don't go into this expecting a great story... but the gameplay is amazing, the shooting mechanics are perfectly fine tuned, there's a large cast of characters to choose from and they all play in their own unique way. I highly recommend giving this a shot if you have some friends to play with online.
