I bought this camera as an alternative to bringing my pro-class DSLR when travelling. It has good image quality and an eye-level viewfinder. I can't use the rear screen as I am an old SLR user. Anyway the most important part of a camera is the 12 inches behind the viewfinder. Phones have blank space there. Worked well to start but then had a zoom issue requiring turning the power off then on to clear but would not go past 40mm equivalent without having the problem recur. I haven't received the camera back from Panasonic yet so let's see if it can be repaired and be reliable. Not too sold on it yet. Seems rather fragile compared to my Canon 1 series cameras.

This camera had an amazing lens and features you normally find in larger DSLRs. It would also be excellent for a beginner interested in how to work the manual system in cameras thanks to all the physical buttons and dialers. Image quality is really good.

This camera produces excellent 4k video, the still photos in my opinion were a little bit of a let down at higher ISOs

Excellent camera and lens. Great pictures in low light. Biggest complaint is the WiFi APP is pretty pathetic. Is not very flexible and lacks options. Bad enough I resort to just manually transferring images the old way via the card or cable.

Great small camera with lots of manual controls

I love having separate controls for shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation. The controls are so convenient and easy to use they encourage me to think more about the photos I take and and dial in the appropriate settings to maximize the quality of my photos. Using the controls is fun! Image quality is very important and I found it to be quite good. The resolution isn't as good as the Sony RX100 iv, but the pictures look better unless I pixel peep. I rented the LX100 and RX100 and compared them for days. I bought the LX100 because I like the pictures better. But image quality isn't as good as a good DSLR with a pro lens. I also love having lots of control over how the LX100 operates. For example, I can change the size and location of the auto-focus area and then assign adjusting it to a function button on the back. This camera fits in the pocket of baggy pants or a jacket but it seems best to store it in a small bag (like the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 5).
