Random freeze-ups

Purchased hoping Panasonic would provide a dependable product. Originally this worked fine - picture and sound were spectacular, but then it started random lockups after a year or two. I can usually bring it back by power-cycling the player, but I'm getting tired of this.
I can't speak to the apps - I never used them since my Samsung 4K TV streams just fine on it's own.
Will not purchase this product again - next 4K player will be something other than panasonic.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us! We are sorry to read that your experience was less than 5-stars. If the player freezes or locks up, please make sure that it is using the latest firmware version that is available for the model. If the issue persists, we advise performing a reset on the Blu-ray player by pressing and holding the OK, the yellow button and the blue button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds. When “00 RET” is displayed on the screen please press the right arrow repeatedly on the remote control until “08 FIN” is displayed on the screen. Finally please press OK for more than 5 seconds to complete the reset. Hope this helps! - S

PLEASE WHY??? I own a Panasonic 42" plasma I purchased the day Circuit City went out of business... Yes, that long ago. Outstanding TV. It is now doing a random power off so I am looking for a new 4k tv. I want to purchase another Panasonic tv! Did the US do something wrong so we can not buy Panasonic 4K? You are forcing me to purchase a Hisense 55" H9G. WHY? When I was stationed in Tokyo for 2 years I only purchased Panasonic. Thanks
Thank you for the excellent rating! We're delighted to know you're satisfied with your purchase. -C

Good player for playing disks.

Purchased on sale. Plays disks fine. UI is a bit dated. Internet apps are so limited as to not be useful; you're better off with a Roku. I'm a bit surprised how expensive 4K players are still while the market is shifting away from physical media, but if you just need to play discs, this is a nice player.

Better reproduction of our legacy DVD and BluRay discs, as advertised. Reasonably convenient to set up. Have not yet discovered how to access the disc menu, but I just need to RTFM.
We deeply appreciate you took the time to provide us with your feedback! We are happy to hear the product meets your expectations. -C

Great 4K Player but...

This is a good option for playing back 4K and Blu-ray Disc. The only complaint is the interface which seems 20 yrs behind, lack of apps in web services. Hoping Panasonic releases a firmware update to improve functionality and options.

clearly:
“This Panasonic DVD player was advertised as supporting Amazon Prime Video, but the app is completely non-functional. I bought this specifically for streaming and feel misled. Panasonic support was not helpful. Be aware before purchasing.”i was able to login but it kicked me out. We exchanged the player and stilk didnt work.

Bought at a best buy store on 16 March and returned less than 24 hours later. If you want to use any configuration other than the most basic or a "typical" setup good luck. Overly complicated interface (some of which is labelled in a non-intuitive way), horribly written manual, and worst of all THEIR SUPPORT IS USELESS! I wanted to was use the optical port to route the audio to my DAC which is why i got this model since it had an optical port. Easy right? LOL!!! After reading the manual to troubleshoot and do the up-up-down-square-circle-ctrl-alt-delete to get the settings supposedly right it still didn't work. Tried to use chat support which was ABSOLUTELY, UTTERLY USELESS English as a second language? Try English as a 5th language and the chat support person who must have been handling 5,000 other calls besides mine based on response times. I tried explaining the issue 4 different ways without success. She went on about how my DAC needed to have ARC support which made absolutely no sense considering a) arc support is for HDMI DACs and 2) the audio worked during initial setup and if I play a file from a USB drive it also works. Firmware was up to date. I asked 3 times to just walk me through the setup to make sure I didn't miss something from the garbage manual but she went on useless tangents. I asked for a phone number so I could do phone support and after going through the prompts on phone support the automated ESL voice said they no longer provide phone support for blu ray players!!! I feel bad for people who spend their hard earned money on their high end gear.
Returned this useless junk to the store and got a different brand for $100 less and the optical port worked right out of the box! Amazing!
I used to trust Panasonic as the 55" plasma HDTV was an absolute workhorse so I expected quality and support from them. I see now they're no better, if not worse, than any of the brands I used to consider "3rd" tier. The fact they can't get an optical port to work on their product and have less than zero support tells me everything I need to know about ever considering another one of their products. Never again, Panasonic. Never again.

Bad player, look elsewhere

Horrible player. Just one problem after another since I got it. Can't handle discs that a standard Blu-ray player plays completely fine. One day, it wouldn't even play video -- just audio. (Yes, I tried multiple HDMI cables, including one that had worked fine with it before.) Overall very glitchy and would not recommend, especially at a $250 price point.
Hello Tyler! We deeply appreciate that you took the time to share your feedback with us. We're truly sorry to hear about the issues you've experienced with the Blu-Ray player. We understand how frustrating this must be. Please note that the unit supports BD-Video discs with region code A and DVD-Video discs with region code 1, as well as “ALL”. If the issue persists, you can also perform a factory reset by pressing and holding [OK], the yellow, and blue buttons on the remote for more than 5 seconds while the unit is on, then pressing the right arrow repeatedly until “08 FIN” appears, and finally holding [OK] for another 5 seconds. We hope this helps and that you're able to enjoy your player soon. Thank you for your feedback! -C

Works well with new pristine discs. If you have any older discs or used discs it will lock up or skip. Discs must be spotless. Very little error correction.

After a year, the player has more trouble booting to the home screen each time I use it. I have to spend minutes turning it off and on and unplugging it and plugging it back in before it will display the home menu.

Hardly ever used it. Bought it in 2020. Bought a four year warranty for it also. Not sure if it’s still good or not. Today I turned it on and an update popped up. When I tried to move the thing to say yes, it didn’t respond. In fact everything I tried to do on it didn’t respond. Now this is a piece of junk. I hardly ever used it, and when I tried it was dead in the water. Don’t buy one!
Hi! Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Please note that this unit consumes a small amount of AC power even when turned off in standby mode. For the purpose of energy conservation, the unit should be disconnected if you will not be using it for extended period of time. Also, please remove batteries if you do not intend to use the remote control for a long period of time. Store in a cool, dark place. Given this situation, we highly recommend to have the system checked by one of our authorized service centers. Kindly be informed that our warranty for this Blu-ray player is mail in service for 1 year parts and 90 days labor. We recommend contacting the seller about the extended warranty you purchased from them. -C
