The Panasonic 820 4K DVD player is a great choice for playback of all phases of standard blueray and 4K discs as well as music CDS. I enjoy the playback so much I bought a second one for my new LG TV, I recommend this Panasonic 820 to anyone for excellent audio and video playback!! Nothing out there can touch the tone mapping the 820 provides. Don’t pay inflated prices for an Oppo-203 when this player is actually better. This is the triumphant high-end A/V component comeback for Panasonic and is worth every penny of the asking price. This IS the best of the best. Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Superior 2020 mapping...this is future proof. Do you and your home theater a favor and get this...right now. You won’t regret it. The highest of recommendations.

Picture quality is amazing, everything looks so good... i had a regular samsung blu ray player and this one is perfect for me and all the DVD's i bought to play on it... highly recommend and caught me by surprised on how well it made the 4k dvd's look on my tv.. truly amazing and worth it to me..

When I first heard about this 4K Player I didn’t know how amazing it performed playing 4K movies until I got it home from Bestbuy. It was pretty easy to set up connect to the Wi-Fi in Connect to my surround sound movie theater. I quickly put in a 4K movie in the quality the sharpness the clarity was just amazing now I am re-watching most of all of the movies I have because of this player. I bought this player to replaced the Sony X 800 which was a very good player when I bought it well built perform very well but the only thing this Sony was lacking in is that because you’re movies to play a little darker than the Panasonic 820. The Panasonic has so many different options to make corrections to your video quality versus the Sony X 800. So I sold my Sony X 800 and bought two Panasonic 820 even though the price was a little expensive but you getting the best at this level without spending $1000-$2000 on a 4K player that performs the same as this one

This will likely be the last player I ever purchase as the gap between physical media versus streaming content is narrowing but there still remains a difference and it was enough to justify the cost. This player is quite, fairly quick to boot up and begin playing and the picture quality and sound is just spectacular.

Its 4k dolby vision player enough said. Auto hdr is nice. Streaming apps are limited which is fine. Works flawless.

This is a player for people who want a nice built one and not the cheap no display ones. Its works flawlessly and the picture is amazing. Its basically an UB900 without THX certification and a cheaper non backlit remote. But it has Dolby Vision which the 900 doesn't.

Wow just wow is all I can say. I was using my Xbone S as my player and it looked good and I was happy but I took a leap after reading reviews about this unit and man am I glad I did. There IS A HUGE DIFFERENCE HUGE. not only in the picture but also in audio. I was looking at the Sony 700 but this unit has the ability to address HDR darkness and adjust it in a way my TV can not. Do yourself a favor and get one you will not be disappointed that I can promise. High quality 4k Blu-Ray player. Upconverts 1080p to 4k, flawlessly. Great picture quality, has built in Apps, but they a little slow. Lots of settings for your TV, from TV's that are OLED, down to projectors. Awesome user interface.

I had been using a XBOX one s for my 4k player for a while and was ready to upgrade. I was originally looking at the big brother for this unit, the UB9000, but after doing research I found out the video side of both are identical (the build quality and audio section of the UB9000 are far superior) so I opted to get this unit at half the price. To say the picture quality over the XBOX one s is night and day would be an understatement. In the units settings you can select which type of TV you have (OLED in my case) to optimize the picture output that will work best with your display but the real treat is there are 4 levels of HDR output so you can really get the best picture on your TV plus if you are a real tweeker you can even manually adjust the HDR to your liking. My first gen LG OLED 65ef9500 has never looked so good. It handles audio mixes from dvd, Blu-ray and 4k UHD really well and they sound great when watching movies. As far as the CD audio section not being on par with the UB9000 I resolved the issue by running Audio Quest toslink to an aftermarket DAC (Toppings E30) then Audio Quest rca's to the CD input on my receiver. My cd's sound amazing with this unit and show me that its time to upgrade my receiver to a more modern one. As far as how well the streaming section works I can not answer as I have not tried it, I am running a ROKU ultra as my streaming device. If I had to give it a ding, and this is mostly a nitpik, the build quality is a bit lacking especially for a $500 unit. It is lightweight and plastic, it doesn't set itself apart from a $100 player and at this price point I would have expected a little more.

What started as replacing a 10+ year old flat screen turned into a complete makeover of our ATMOS surround theater except for the speakers. The new flat screen exposed a weakness in the receiver and then the blu-ray player. The Panasonic was the last piece. Wow! What a change! All the major components are state-of-art and support all the present sound and video formats. Watched our first Ultra HD 4K blu-ray last night and it was like being in a whole new theater. Highly recommend this player.
