This player is a little more expensive than others. But it is well worth it. The quality is unreal. The upscaling is superior to other models I've had in the past. I would recommend this player to everyone looking for supiorior quality.

The build on this player is top notch, with a premium look and feel. The front display is a benefit and the advanced HDR tweaking and HDX Cinema chip brings the colors absolutely to life. Discs load fast and machine makes very little noise. This is worth every single penny.

I had this dumb thought that streaming was giving me quality movie experiences. Then I did some digging and found out why you need a dedicated 4k player. Then found out why you need a top quality player. There is a version of the Panasonic player that is twice the price of this, but doesn’t seem to have any benefit over this model. If you wonder if spending to extra money on this is worth the price difference, I’d say absolutely. If you are going to buy a dedicated unit, then get the best, otherwise just stream. Yes, at some point streaming will have the quality of physical media, but we aren’t there just yet. I tested the picture and sound against the Xbox series x, and it’s not even close.

Overall I'm quite happy with this player. Great video quality and has both HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, which my TV also supports so I get the best of both worlds. Before getting this, I watched LOTR 4k on my Xbox and not only was I limited to HDR10, but in a couple spots the movie glitched and jumped. I thought it was possibly a bad disc, but my new UB820 played the disc fine and at better HDR, it was like watching a new movie all over again! My only real complaint is that it cannot read SACD so it's not a true universal disc player. It is not marketed as such so I knew this going in. I previously was using my Oppo BDP-83 SE for everything audio and up to 1080P and my Xbox One S for 4k movies.

I got this to upgrade to a devoted 4K disc player from my Playstation 5. The menus are pretty plain but simple, and great auality sound and picture.

Best player for the price! Upscales 1080p Blu-Rays superbly and of course 4K looks outstanding. Plus easy access to HDR10+ and Dolby Vision! Whats not to like?

The only player I read consistent feedback online saying that it doesn't skip when playing 4K discs, and in my experience this holds true. Don't need to hook it up to the internet, so I don't bother with any of the network connectivity features. Last thing I want is a firmware update that makes it less reliable.

Very happy with this player! It is great for true 4K discs and seems to upscale my old blu-ray discs very well for viewing on my new 4K TV.

This plays old dvd's like they were blu-ray and the dolby vision is fantastic but you have to make sure that you have the luminance setting correct , on my vizio the default made the picture look almost all black on dark scenes but clicked on the highest setting and it was perfect.

Best Buy has this on sale and I couldn’t pass up the deal. Easy to use, perfect for my home theater and amazing performance. Fast load times, awesome response time with the remote control, apps easy to use and beautiful picture!

My first 4k player and it’s handled hdr10 hdr10 plus and Dolby vision upscales 1080 p or lesser now I only use this for pysical media not streaming so not sure how that looks

Awesome player. Upgraded from a Sony x800, because this supports Dolby vision. Immediately noticed the difference in picture quality with my oled TV. Load times are fast.

I have no complaints about this UHD disc player. It works as advertised with Blu-ray and 4K Ultra Blu-ray Discs. I have not tried it with any of my old standard DVD discs. I hope it gives me as many years of trouble-free service as my old Blu-ray unit.

As many of the professional reviews already state, this 4K UHD player has very good video (and audio) processing with a plethora of professional-level calibration settings. I have it hooked up to a JVC 4K pixel-shifting projector and it looks fantastic with 4K content - slightly better than a cheaper Sony UHD player (that I hated) that it replaced. A few gripes, though - the marketplace for streaming apps is very limited and very clunky. The remote control is mediocre at best and it's the only IR remote control that I've ever used that has challenges working with the IR repeater in my theater room - but I have the same issue with a high end universal remote trying to send commands to this unit (the same universal remote works great with all of my other components). So beyond the lacking marketplace (e.g., lacks Vudu!) and the odd infrared signaling (works fine if the unit is in the same room, but horrible going through a repeater), this is a great unit. If you're a videophile looking for a unit in this price point, it's a must-have. If you don't care about the last 5% of video processing performance and calibration options, it might be overkill, although my experience with a cheaper Sony UHD player was very frustrating (the Sony player often froze on movies even after downloading the latest firmware, wireless network did not work, HDMI-ARC issues that prevented me from using a separate HDMI hookup to my projector, etc.). Anyway, if the money's not an option, you plan to stream using a different device (Roku, AppleTV, Shield, etc.), and you don't need to use an IR repeater to send commands to the player in another room, I would highly recommend this unit - but if any of these caveats apply to you, these are some things to consider, but I'm still keeping the unit.

After using the Panasonic Blu-Ray player for both DVD and Blu-ray discs we have found this to be a very good performer. The upscaling and audio quality are well done. I have not encountered a disc so far that the player will not handle. Hands down it is a really solid player which I would highly recommend. I cannot say about the 4K capability of the unit as my TV is only 1080i but the DP-U820-K does a great job with content presentation to the Sony TV I have. I really like the menu and content presentation much more than the others I have tried.

My friends thought I was crazy for buying a blu ray player since everything is streamed nowadays. But, when the Internet goes down I can still watch a movie I know I will enjoy. Picture and audio is fantastic and I love that it has Dolby Vision, same as my TV.

Decent 4K player for the money - Dolby Visions under $500 but the plastic parts show it’s compromises

Excellent first impression. Has met all my expectations for performance and features. Not many products outfitted with RCA Outlets anymore. If you are looking for a unit that seamlessly integrates with a Vintage Amp/Pre-Amp setup, this is a fantastic fit without reaching for the expensive Reference Grade offerings.
