I have an Xbox Series X and I wanted a Blu-ray player that had Dolby Vision and superior performance. I'm so glad I switched, the Dolby Vision is fantastic and the overall quality is unparalled for the price point. Highly recommended.

Beautiful Picture and great having the dedicated 2nd HDMI port for older receivers. The price is the only downside but I wanted one with DolbeyVision. Great player if you can part with the cash.

I received my player a couple of weeks ago. The Panasonic UB420 is an excellent unit. Great picture, excellent sound and a very easy set up. Dolby vision is incredible. I love it and it is worth every penny.

Looks nice and works well. Picture quality is great. Disc loading can be audible, but playback is essentially silent. Lots of settings to customize things like display brightness in various modes, etc.

Upgraded our bedroom Blu-Ray player to this new Panasonic 4K UHD player and are extremely pleased. Fantastic picture quality on our OLED TV. Very intuitive and easy to use. Worth every penny.

Haven't spent enough time with this player to do a truly comprehensive review, but so far it is really impressive. Judging by the settings and specs -- this is a very capable unit. Although I haven't done a careful side-by-side with another player, I am immediately impressed by the picture quality of this Panasonic. Even when viewing an old, standard DVD (i.e., not Blu-Ray or 4K disc), the level of fine detail is evident. I look forward to future viewing and to investigating the audio-specific qualities of this player. The one knock I have is with the layout of the remote control, which is very similar to another Panasonic remote that I generally think is just about the worst remote I regularly use. It is not worthy of association with this Blu-Ray player.

4k Blu Ray player's picture and sound are excellent.. The player is easy to set up. Has only 3 streaming apps, but those are the only ones that I use anyway. does Dolby Vision; fairly expensive, but worth it

Best player in the market ! Works as advertised no issues what’s so ever , Dolby vision and hdr look amazing, it’s automatic optimization makes any hdr tv meet it’s full potential, very pleased (Using a lg Cx at the moment )

I've been a long time user of Oppo DVD/Blu ray players. However, I discovered that my Oppo 203 wouldn't send the increased color Ultra blu rays are capable of to my Sony 385ES projector when using the Oppo's tone mapping (SDR2020). I discovered that many projector owners were using this UB820 with great results, and were able to overcome the "bug" in the Oppo or Sony which made you choose between full color, but no tone mapping in the player (relying on the projector instead to less than ideal results), or superior tone mapping, but only rec709 color or 8bit color. The Panasonic has at least as good, if not superior up conversion of less than 4K resolution, and the sound quality is every bit as good as the Oppo. So, I sold the Oppo and am enjoying the superior picture quality the controls allow. The only thing I miss about the Oppo is the superior back lit remote control (motion activated) and build quality. Both of those are remedied by the Panasonic 9000, if you want to spend the extra money. Picture quality should be identical however.

As far as 4K players go this is one of the best, especially in this price range. Regular blurays do look fantastic with this player, so if you have a collection already you wouldn't be disappointed with the upscaling. I would recommend it for anyone looking to create a home theater. Now for the critique. A minor issue with Dolby Vision when watching John Wick 4 on 4K disc. Top menu selection text becomes dark against background and isn't visible. Only happens when in Dolby Vision, other HDR formats don't have that issue. However, once the movie is playing, pop-up menu looks fine even in Dolby Vision. Not sure why that specific movie's 4K disc. The interface software could be a lot better. Don't get me wrong, it does it's job, but I have had an occasional reoccurring bug where an overlay diagram of remote controls would appear on screen and the only way to get rid of it is to power cycle the unit by unplugging it. I'm assuming that the bug is caused by the TV sending some command to the unit, but I can't recreate it. I'm sure the software things can be remedied with firmware updates, but Panasonic is very slow to rolling out fixes.

I bought this platter for the Dolby Vision and the hdr optimization it does. I did a lot of research and I am glad I went with this one. The display picture is great.

I got this before I got a 4k receiver its analog outputs sound excellent and really helped me out when I was saving up. Its media playback is pretty good it is one of the few that allow you to stream surround audio tracks! It does not allow you to search and play which is kinda bad. It can natively play 50Hz content or resample if your TV does not support it like how my TCL does not support 50Hz at 4k (which the device scales flawlessly to 4k). It has good options. It supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby vision it can work with any brand of TV. The audio only HDMI is great for Receivers that don't support 4k pass thru. The options to see the metadata from the disc and the what your TV receives is so nice. I use it all the time.

I can only believe the $1k Panasonic player is better, but this is an amazing machine. It reads Dolby Vision without problem to my Sony OLED, even through an older HDMI 2.0 AVR. With good cables I get very good picture and sound quality through the dual HDMI outputs. HDR tone-mapping feature is a bust because it added unnatural "mirror" effects where a glistening light should be. Leave it in Basic HDR mode and it works great. This unit is definitely superior in picture and sound quality to the Sony 800, but just a little.

Was using Xbox series X to play 4k movies. I bought this to simply the controls with my home theater. I was very surprised by the picture and sound improvement

Easily connected and setup. This 4K player produces a clear and great picture on a 4K television! My sound is exited too an Emotive receiver and amplifiers which gives very good sound reproduction. The dvd player is well worth the cost!

the Panasonic dp-820 is the best 4k player I ever had. The build quality is nice . a very good looking player. But the picture quality sets it apart from others. what you see in the details are amazing. The hdr optimizer is a clincher. works great with oled. I did not want to spend $550. But glad I did!!.. Welcome back Panasonic.. Now bring your oleds back to the STATES.

We hadn't upgraded our Blu-ray player in about 5 years. What a step-up this one is. Setup was easily and the unit paired effortlessly with our 4K TV and other components. Picture quality is very strong with 4K UHD discs and when we tried standard Blu-ray discs, the upgrade was very impressive. We had zero trouble adjusting to the remote unit and, overall, we're thrilled with this purchase. We found considerable savings by purchasing a unit that had been returned for some reason. Not a single cosmetic blemish, all instructions intact and it made for a substantial savings. Wish we'd done it sooner.
