I purchased this 4K player after doing so much research on the Internet.I have previously owned competitors 4K Blu-ray players and they do not stack up compared to this player. Yes this player cost a little bit more money but it is absolutely worth every penny. The picture and sound quality produced from this player as well as its features, it cannot be beat. If you are a movie love her and want to enjoy your 4K movies at their fullest I highly recommend purchasing this player for your home theater

Bought to replace old Samsung UHD player that was getting noisy. I like my blu rays for the superior sound quality. Not disappointed in this Panasonic.

I cannot speak highly enough about this fantastic piece of tech. It provides a beautiful image, stunning resolution with 60 fps, if the video supports it. This is a rare combination and, from what i understand, the device is also region free, to an extent, playing Blu-ray discs from region a, b and c, as it does with dvd’s and the large amount of region codes that format has attached to it. Just excellent, pricey, but arguably the best player available at this time.

This player supports everything. It’s pretty responsive and the picture quality is excellent. It interface does not crash and is responsive. I replace my Sony player that kept crashing in the middle of a movie or failed to respond and so far this player is far better.

SO FAR SO GOOD IT PERFORMS AS EXPECTED. TOO BAD THE REMOTE ISN'T BACKLIT AND THE PLAYER ITSELF ISN'T THX CERTIFIED. I HAVE AN OLDER PANASONIC DMP UB 900 BUT IT DOES NOT HAVE DOLBY VISION THAT IS WHY I PURCHASED THE DP UB 820.

Good UHD quality and upscaling. Fold down face/dust protector is nice. Plenty of smart features but I wish they would change the remote lay out a bit.

This player is an exceptional player in terms of picture quality. It supports all of the major HDR formats on 4K blu-rays. Easy and simple to use interface and remote!

I find this player worth the extra dollars over my SONY X-700. The picture is excellent and that's what I'm looking for. I'm highly appreciative of the auto Dolby Vision operation, I can't believe SONY does not include this in their machines that support Dolby Vision. Every so often there is a disk reading error. I usually find fingerprints on the disk and that clears it. A Netflix copy of Body Heat had a larger issue. When I put the disk in the X-700 it played without a problem. I'm not sure why, but a $500 player should not have such a problem. Hence the loss of 1 star. One other minor point is the display option. Being used to SONY for years I find the "display" option to be inferior. In the end I'd recommend this player.

If you are after the best UHD disk player to go with your main viewing TV (not projector) this is an awesome choice. The Panasonic DP-UB820 is amazing. I'm a physical media guy with close to 350 discs and so far this player send amazing video quality to my OLED TV and amazing audio to my Marantz AVR. Worth every penny.

Great picture, great sound, i would of gave it 5 stars, but the remote is tedious, buttons are bunched together and dont light up. Many times I've tried to pause the movie and hit the stop. Other than that. Great player you will not be disappointed.

Pricey - but I bought this because it provides hook-ups for analog sound for 5.1 systems and it's compatible with my new LG OLED TV (4K, HDR, etc.). Hook-up was easy and the device interacted with my TV automatically. Rather bizarre "screaming woman" who spoko way to rapidly at the initial configuration process, but the rest went smoothly. Menus are intuitive, and the on-line owner's manual (50 pages!) is very helpful if a bit complex. Excellent picture as expected. I've had many Panasonic products and expect this one to be just as good.

Beautiful picture quality, absolutely quiet during playback and it never had any issues playings all types of discs.

Plays all high end DVDs accurately (ultra 4k). Fast with plenty of features. Menus are archaic and much of the on-screen information is more technical than necessary. If you don't care about what's going on in the background, this is a great player.

Excellent picture and sound. One of few players with both Dolby Vision and HDR+

Overall the picture quality is very good and the option of HDR optimizer is the best. However, the lack of zoom and ability to select screen sizes such as 4:3 or wide is a downside. I am not a fan of the black bars and having an option of zoom or fit to screen option would be nice. It would help particularly for videos that are not in full resolution. I know that's not how the movie was intended to be in certain situations but it would be nice to include the feature. Also the remote is feels flimsy and there is no single click option for turning on subtitles. I was unable to set an option where subtitles are turned on by default and so I have to manually turn on the subtitles every time I watch a movie by going into the menu and digging into 4 clicks to turn them on. Overall I like the player for the picture quality but wish Panasonic can add these features in a future firmware upgrade.

If you want to get the most out of 4K, and you've got a TV that can handle all of the HDR formats including Dolby Vision, this bad boy is the ticket! I've watched Alita and Scott Pilgrim, both in Dolby Vision, and all I can say is wow! Honestly, though, I could live without any streaming via a BD player, as my smart TV (especially the 65" Sony XR90J) covers anything I could ever need via it's baked in Google TV. But, this baby is the best of the best (IMHO). Totally worth it.

Incredible player. I used a PS5 or an Xbox Series X to play bluray and 4k discs.....I am AMAZED at how much better they look on this. Some players can't automatically switch between HDR and Dolby vision but this one does. Highly recommend getting a dedicated player like this if you are using a console to play discs.
