Excellent picture quality and upscaling. The user interface for apps could be made better.

Outstanding performance. Runs quiet boots up fast and have had no issues with about 30 discs played so far.

I've only been using this player for the past few weeks, so these are still fairly early impressions... THE GOOD 1. Player is able to handle every triple-layer disc that I've watched so far. Cheaper players have rampant reports of freezing on these BD-100 discs. Every disc that gave my wife's Sony X700 player an issue has played flawlessly here. 2. Player does a good job automatically detecting and switching to Dolby Vision. THE BAD 1. Evidently, while it has excellent video playback capabilities, it fumbles badly with audio. Specifically, DTS-based tracks are noticeably out of sync with the picture (for reference, I have an LG Atmos soundbar and LG Nanocell 90 model TV). So far, changing the player's audio delay (found in the settings menu) to 120 ms appears to sync the audio and picture on DTS-based movies. However, even some Atmos movies need manual tweaking. I've started putting small labels inside the disc case with the optimal milliseconds (ms) delay. Seriously, for $500, I should not have to play a guessing game with each disc. 2. And they couldn't even give us a backlit remote :( All in all, this is the best choice, but it's the best choice out of a bunch of problematic players (and there aren't very many models out there). While irritating, adjusting the audio delay only takes about 20 seconds (each time...so if you don't guess right the first time...). I'd much rather deal with that than have discs freezing up.

With the oppo 203 no longer offered, this is the new best available. Already vastly superior to my Samsung (only choice at the time in 4k) and I've only run a few movies through it. Picture quality finally good enough for my OLED. Paired with an appletv for the Dolby vision streaming through my Denon/Deftech 5.1 surround system. All is good

Purchased this 4K DVD player because I kept getting freezes on my previous 4K DVD player. So far this product works as advertised. Watched two 4K movies and they played with no glitches/freezes. Yeah!! You will pay more for this product but it is well worth it. Now I can watch 4K movies with friends and family in my media room without getting embarrassed.

No matter upscale or 4k this player really outperform any other 4k player within its price range.

When it is working it is stellar picture, but this player is very buggy. Most of the time will not read disk. Or when watching a 4k disk instead of displaying HDR, its showing in SDR. Have to unplug or reset the player in order to have this working. Disk also skips, but nothing is wrong with the disk. Play yhe sam disk in my lg 4k player or xbox series x, no issues.

I bought this player looking to build out a 4K video collection. The first movie I bought worked fine. The 2nd worked intermittently, the 3rd, and most recent purchase, did not work at all even after exchanging the disk 3 different times. I consistently got a disk read error. Since I was past the Best Buy return date, I am now dealing with Panasonic directly. So far I'm in for $140 on a repair with the hope it gets fixed. Meaning this is costing almost $600 for the player so far. As for the player itself, seems good when it works. I did get it to play a DTS CD pretty well. That was a surprise. That was a CD that only worked on high-end/specialty CD players back in the day. I was able to pair the remote with a Samsung TV after a bit of googling. Though the remote as a whole is pretty ancient from a usability perspective compared to today. Given the state of the video disk player market, I'd get this again, but be sure to get some 4k disks and exercise the player thoroughly before the return date or otherwise be prepared to pay a lot any repairs. I did not have any problems with Blu-Ray disks. Did not try any DVDs.

This is the best 4K UHD player on the market. Stop wasting time researching other players and purchase this blindly -- have used it for 6 months almost daily and not a single issue. The only issue is the remote is absolutely horrible, but can be fixed by purchasing a simple $10 remote from Amazon.

With the discontinuation of the Panasonic UB900, this now takes the place as the most capable 4K player on the market and it supports the latest video formats of HDR, and Dolby, and myriad of sound processing formats and audio playback formats. Stunning images and decent access speed. Easy setup and easy updates.

Panasonic has delivered a solid product that delivers on everything promised. If you've abandoned physical media for streaming I can't tell you how impressive it is to watch or hear something as it was meant to be. It's also nice to know that I actually OWN the media. Even the older, DVD-based media is far and away better than streaming content.

nice unit. Very good picture quality. The voice assist is annoying and I hope to be able to figure out how to disable this "feature". Does not integrate as easily with a samsung TV as well as a samsung dvd player.

Bought this in conjunction with my lg 77 inch C2. So far I'm very impressed with it. It plays all my 4k and blurays beautifully. It has great settings, so many in fact I had to watch YouTube videos on best settings. Great machine!!!

Excellent product. I have always been a Sony product person and I was a real challenge for me to buy a Panasonic product because I dislike change. Boy what a surprise. I read all of the reviews and this is the one that kept coming up. Picture quality is an improvement over the Sony. The sound in my home theater is excellent too.

I wasn't so sure about spending this kind of money on a 4K Blu-Ray player, but this has been even better than I hoped. It's so quick to load discs and the picture quality is much better than the video game consoles I had been using previously. The interface is simple and quick, but the settings are deep and allow for tons of different options to be adjusted appropriately for your setup.

Its really good with 4k movies but when It comes to 1080p blurays its really inconsistent

This highly-reviewed, 4K UHD Blu-ray player provides the kind of extensive luminance and chrominance settings usually reserved for high-end plasma, LED and OLED television sets. One unique feature during initial setup is a setting that analyzes the connected display to determine resolution and HDR capabilities. It assessed my Epson Home Cinema 5040UB 4Ke projector as a FHD device with a maximum resolution of 1080p. Because of that determination, the HDR settings on the UB820 maxed out at Rec. 709, which only provides 8 bit color. After hours of research online and experimentation with the unit itself, I was unable to achieve Rec. 2020, which provides 10 to 12 bit color. It wasn't a problem with my native 4K HDR flat screen, but as most $1000 -$2500 4K projectors are actually 1080p FHD devices that are "4K Enhanced" (aka "Faux-K"), utilizing pixel-shift technology to fabricate 3840p resolution, it may explain why the Panasonic UB820 detected my projector as 1080p FHD, not 3840p. Otherwise, the UB820 is a fantastic machine, despite the high price point.
