this is my first HDTV, i researched for about 6 months and weighed all the pros/cons for me personally. This picture quality is top notch, can't imagine it getting better, especially for the size and price I paid. (50 inch, $650) Plasma is hotter than the others but the refresh rate can't be beaten for sports and games. There is a very small hum noise if you are silent and mute the tv after a few minutes of it being on... but unless you are very close to it, you won't hear it.
It doesn't have a browser for the internet so you are limited to the apps that it comes with but the apps work well and are very easy to access. I have only used Netflix and YouTube so far.
I'm very happy with my purchase so far, purchased 8/27/13.
Limited HDMI connections but that was easily solved by buying a 4-port HDMI selector.

Good TV for the price, the internet connection is a nice upgrade from the last 50" Viera Panasonic Plasma I had, however Panasonic decided to reduce the number of connections, which is slightly disappointing. The TV has 2 HDMI and one composite connection. Which allows for cable, blue-ray/ps3, and one other gaming system. Therefore it's not a great TV for those people with all 3 systems, just from the tv connections standpoint. Color/Picture/Quality/etc are all great. Allows for those people with Netflix/Amazon Prime subscriptions to easily use those through the TV's internet connection. I would recommend this TV.

I had a 40" LCD before and I am very happy with this Panasonic plasma. For the price and the size I think it was a great deal. Blu-Rays look awesome. The TV is thin but not as thin as the LED LCDs. But the picture quality is far superior. The view angle is amazing. Very immersive experience with this TV.
I wish there was at least 3 HDMI ports but it only has 2. While it is not a problem in my room but I can see in bright rooms that there would a lot of light reflection off the screen.

Loving our new TV

My husband and I are definitely enjoying our new TV. It is the first flatscreen either of us has had; the set-up was very simple, the picture quality is great, and it is easy to navigate the menus. My only real complaint is that we were told that since it connected to the internet, it would not only have access to Netflix and Youtube, but that it had an app for Pandora as well. It definitely doesn't, but that was our fault for not looking at the product information more closely. Our salesperson was probably just mistaken, but we miss our Pandora app nonetheless.

Panasonic definitely knows what they're doing when it comes to plasma TVs. The quality of both visual and audio is spectacular. There's plenty of ports to connect multiple input devices. The only downside is that this TV was definitely made to be connected to a home theatre sound system. The volume between watching movies and playing video games is drastically different. With movies you have to nearly max out the volume to catch conversations but with video games you better start near the bottom of the volume output.

Picture is great. This replaced my Sony Bravia LCD, and the glare is worse, but that's to be expected. I'm still able to watch the TV in the living room with the curtains open, so it's not a major problem. I wasn't looking for 3D, or a smart TV, so this was perfect for my needs. I use a receiver and external speakers, so the tiny speakers were not a concern either.

For the money this set offers a great picture.
The onboard speakers are adequate to get you started. All the new generation TVs are so thin that you have to add an external sound system. The thinness eliminates space for speakers.
Connection to the internet was simple. The connection is very stable allowing trouble free viewing of streaming media from Hulu, Netflix, and YouTube. (NOTE - You have to have enough internet service bandwidth.)

This is my second HD Panasonic tv and I have been pleased with both. My last one lasted 10 years and then bit the dust. The picture on this plasma is fantastic! The sound is pretty bad, but mine is connected to surround sound so I don't have to listen to the ones on the set. The viera link that connects to my Panasonic DVD player is ok but the remote on the tv won't do all the functions on the DVD player so it's almost not worth the trouble. Just need a better universal remote. Also, it really needs more than 2 hdmi inputs!!

I bought this TV for a Movie/game room. The picture is great and I don't see motion blur compared to my LED TV. The picture has good natural color and I haven't seen motion blur compared to my LED TV. I wish it had more HDMI slots but I bought an adapter to take care of this. The speakers sound like they are in a box but I will eventually upgrade to a sound bar. I would say overall a good value for this TV. I also like how Panasonic TV's can stream from Amazon Prime. The setup and ease of use make this TV easy to use.

had to upgrade to this model although it still didn't have the HDMI's I needed. Came very close to switching to a Samsung LED, but didn't want to go through the hassle nor added expense of a better TV. That being said, the images on the screed are GREAT. even the wife loves it!!!!
for me - the DNLA capabilities are limited. I have a variety of movies in a variety of formats and some it just won't play. very annoying.

This 50" Panasonic Viera fit our needs exactly...IT FIT and is viewable easily from all points in the room. The plasma has a better picture quality than the LEDs and the refresh rate is incredible. Best investment we've made in a long time.

This is an outstanding TV but the speakers point downward and don't provide an adequate level especially when watching movies. The color, sharpness and ease of setup are very good, There are not very many "extra" connections for other equipment either. It is best to use digital/fiber optic connections for those. We are using this on Direct TV and am happy with the results.

I have been wanting a great tv for gaming for a really long time. The ones I owned just wouldn't cut it. So once I saw this one, for around 700, I had to jump on it. The colors are rich and 600hz refresh rate make it perfect for gaming.

I love this TV and I love Panasonic in general. I have one of if not the first ever plasma model and it is still working as good as the day I bought it (almost 10 years now). This is a great plasma TV for the money as I don't believe there is a better value out there for a plasma TV with the same specs. There is one problem however, I purchased this TV to fit above the mantle at my new house. After installation it worked fine and worked for about 2 days. Then for some reason It would not work with the inputs anymore. I tried changing HDMI inputs and also tried plugging other components into it thinking it was a bad connection to my cable box. None of this worked so I had to take down off the wall, un-box and return to Best Buy. They were very knowledgeable and helpful at Best Buy, they tested the TV and nothing happened just as it didn't at my house. Whoa was I happy that it wasn't just my set-up. Anyway they replaced my TV with one they had in stock and also gave me the sale price during a holiday weekend. I got a new TV for $40 cheaper so it was worth my time and effort returning. I think this could just have been a bad piece of product which happens from time to time. You never think that something you pay that much money for could be defective but things happen sometimes. We thoroughly enjoy the new unit as it looks beautiful hanging above our rock fireplace. It has a great picture from any angle (which is why I love plasma) and the sound is just right. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a bargain on a great TV.

Purchased this mainly for gaming for the 600 hz. Xbox 360 with cenima setting is awesome. Sports is phenomenal......football and baseball. This TV makes most Netflix movies look like bluray quality. I paid $200 more for my previous tv 2 years ago and this one kicks my old tvs A double S. Not a bad purchas for $650......highly recommended.

I accidentally broke my older tv, my fault, a freak thing with a spoon flew up and cracked it, two years old, same exact tv, did not hesitate, went and got same tv, of course new and a few new additions, but still same awesome picture, incredible!! Thought for about half second to go LED, but this tv so great, especially for the money!!

First of all, I have owned bot LEDs and Plasmas and as far as pure picture quality goes - Plasma is the hands down winner. This model is a perfect example of this with deep, deep blacks and colors that really pop.
I discourage anyone to even bother critiquing any TV's speakers. If you are going to bother spending this kind of money on a TV, then you are really shortchanging yourself by using TV speakers for your sound.

This television is great for gaming; the 600hz really helps with that, also it's High Definition quality with Blu-Ray is fantastic. Sound quality sounds like any other tv, would recommend either a sound bar or surround sound.
