Bought this TV based on a recommendation from a sales person. We have bought 3 Sony LED TVs and a 70" Sharp LED in the past 2 years. This TV was going into a game room as part of our lake house extension so it didn't need to be the best TV ever. The extension was wired for sound over 2 floors with 4 TV connections. Our AV technician could never get this TV to find a signal despite calls to Panasonic technical support. In the end, I took it back to Best Buy to exchange within my 60 day return policy (Premium Silver reward member). With minimal debate, Best Buy took it back and gave me the $500 credit towards another TV. Every manufacturer makes a dud now and then so I can't condemn Panasonic per se but this was my only experience with them. Needless to say, I didn't use the credit on another Panasonic. Kudos for Best Buy for keeping me a loyal customer!

Delivery took a week or so then right out of the box, I plugged the TV in and the plasma screen had a defect covering 20% of the screen. I called customer service and they quickly coordinated the return, but the shipping of return was problematic with their customer service. Don't do it.

    Good Picture, No Features

I sent this one back and upgraded to a Samsung 51" 5300. I look for the features, and not just the picture, which I expect to be good on these new DTVs, and especially on Plasma. And this Panasonic X60 has almost nothing except the very basics. The problem was this TV has very minimal features, such as: * No clock - so the channel info showed the program playing on east coast time. If you live there, no big deal, but I live in the central time zone. I called Panasonic and they said no way to set it to my time zone. This also eliminated any setting of a channel to turn to and watch at a certain time. (Samsung allows three settings to go to a station, and turn on the set at a prescribed time) Both do have a sleep timer. And if you want to know the time, better check your wrist watch. * If you press a number for a channel you get the analog (such as 4 instead of 4.1) you have to hit channel up, or press 4.1 to get directly there. You cannot 'delete' the analog channels and just see the digital channels. I found myself setting the surf to "digital only" and using the channel up or down instead of trying to use the numeric key pad to choose a specific channel. And the remote was very sensitive - have to be careful or you will get "repeating" numbers, like instead of 2 you may get 222 * I found no way to manually add a channel, it appears you only have automatic scan. So if you delete one and want to add it back, you have to go into setup, scan again, and then go back in and delete individual stations you don't want. * If you change channels and the station is broadcasting in a different format, you usually need to reset the format to wide-screen or zoom to keep from "burning in" a 4:3 display. It does have burn protection, but I'm not sure I trust that and burn is not covered by warranty. (Samsung unit will remember the settings for different channels, which is not always correct but helpful) And one Panasonic screen setting makes the side panels expand so it's like looking through a fish-eye lens on each side. * Using channel info tells you the program title currently playing, but does not allow seeing what may be playing in the future (Samsung goes forward for maybe 6 hours, and you can mark a program to automatically go there at that time) Also, I couldn't find any detailed info about the program playing, just the title (it may have it but I did not find a button to do that on the Panasonic) * You can only mark 5 channels as your favorites to surf, which is nothing when you have 50 or more. (the Samsung has 5 different categories of like 10+ each) * There is a "channel list" but it is only the list, not what's playing on each channel (Samsung has channel and title of program) There are other things I am not mentioning, but you get the idea from above - Bottom Line, I upgraded for about another $100 and got a really feature-rich TV by comparison, and a 51" 1080p instead of a 50" 720P. And I'm real glad I did. I have always liked Panasonic electronics because you use to get a lot of bang for the buck, but not on this model. But if you only have limited funds, and are looking for a picture and nothing else, this may work out for you. Otherwise, maybe an extra $100 or so spent will put a bigger smile on your face as it did mine.

It might not be "smart" or capable of 3D, but the picture is great. A nice HDTV on a budget. Only 2 HDMI and one component/composite inputs so it would be nice to have just one more of each. The stock speakers are decent for a unit of this size. Not a single complaint from me so far.

Great picture, especially for sports (no pixelation or blur). For a dark room it is simply perfect.

I stumbled upon this TV one day while on the website. I wasn't actually in the market, but was impressed by the price(449.00 at the time) Even though it is 720, the difference isn't that much different than 1080, and the better accuracy of the color and the deep blacks make up for the resolution difference. I knew that plasma's were in the process of phasing out, and I had always heard of how much people loved them. I will have to say I'm hooked. Good especially for movies.

We purchased the 55" Viera on 6/15/11. It quit working on 7/30/13 cost to replace circuit board $396.45 and 10 days. Quit again on 11/22/13 (103 days) same problem. Guess who has a 90 day parts warranty? We won't waste any more money on what is clearly junk.
