    Stunning Picture and Great Features

I looked at TV's and read reviews for months before buying this set. This is my second Panasonic Plasma. I also have a P42U2 that I purchased in 2010 from Best buy. This Plasma is the best pictire I've seen on any Television. The blacks and shadow detail are amazing. I watched my first blue ray on this and the picture was mind blowing. This TV blows my bosses 65' Led out of the water. The price for value factor for this TV is awesome! You won't get anywhere near the picture quality for under 2500 dollars and it won't be as good! As far as brightness goes..it is plenty bright with amazing color accuracy. The onboard speakers are really quite good for a television of this size. I will run these until I can afford a sound system. The Skype camera on top is a cool feature that my kids use to video chat with their grandparents. The apps are probably the only ones I will ever use anyway. All in all this is the best TV you can buy. Well thought out in design, looks and features.

    No shutter

My journey in the new world of TVs started with a Samsung led at the recommendation of my brother. Shuttered so bad during live tv that I almost called a speech therapist. Disappointing since my old tv was Samsung. It did have a nice Internet feature. Brought it back in a few days since it was big$ and for that price it should be great. Then bought the Sony led and it only brought me to Sony websites. Shutter was better but still there. Sales rep saw me looking at plasmas and he recommended the gt, but the vt was the same price when I. Bought back the Sony. Since I watch prices I used the price match and got the tv for $1500, which lowered my warranty price saving me $500. TV has been great, 3d is awesome and Internet is a nice feature. Had the tv since January 2013.

    Simply the best TV made.

There is a reason that CNET rates the VT the number one TV picture. Watched it out of the box for a couple months. It was a very good picture, maybe a little too dark. Went up north for the summer and watched our Kuro, which you can't buy anymore. The Pioneer Kuro is the best TV ever made. Never made an adjustment to it and it's eye popping. Came back to FL and adjusted the VT to the custom numbers provided in the CNET review. The picture looks even sharper and a little brighter without being washed out. Now I agree with the CNET review. The VT is the second best TV ever made, behind Kuro, and the best you can buy in todays market. Actually it's very tuff to tell the difference in the picture between an adjusted VT and stock Kuro.

Forget This TV Unless You Are In a Black Room

Forget all the Cnet and other reviews you ever read about this TV. It's sharp, you bet. Deep blacks are great. However, this tv is so dim it's ridiculous. Most reviews say its great as long as the room is not too bright. Forget it. The room has to be movie theatre dark. If there is any light get ready for massive dissappointment. The set is dim. Whites are not even close to white, they are blue gray at best. And adjusting settings will not be enough. Unless you plan to watch this all the time in the total dark you need to pass. Additionally the set has fan noise that can be heard 30 feet away if the volume is down. Getting returned to best buy today. I should have gone with my first inclination to get the Samsung F8500

    A Phenomenal TV

Panasonic has outdone themselves with the VT60. The picture quality is amazing with some of the deepest black levels out there. The colors are natural with fantastic spot on skin tones. The tv even sounds great with side mounted speakers. The dual core processor ensures that all the apps and games run without any lag. Dual remotes and a Skype camera add to the countless list of features and apps. To sum up, I couldn't be happier with my selection.

Once again, the Panasonic Plasma is terrific!

We recently moved to a home with a larger family room, so after almost 10 years of owning our 42" Panasonic Plasma TV, we upgraded to the 55" Panasonic Plasma. I'm so glad we chose another plasma, the picture is terrific especially viewing sports, the sleek look of the tv in our family room is super cool, and to top it all off the Geek Squad came in and set it all up for us - what more can you ask for.

    TC-P50GT50 - KILLER PLASMA!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased my Panasonic TC-P50GT50 and loved it right out of the box! Super great colors with deep blacks and a sleek design along with a faster computer processor for wireless entertainment. Paid a little extra to get the TC-P50GT50 for the THX viewing mode and love it! The sound from this television isn’t the best, but then that seems to be universal for all plasma/LCD/LED televisions. I went ahead and hooked up my plasma to a Panasonic sound system (SC-HTB350) and it’s perfect for my man cave. However, as much as I love my TC-P50GT50, BE WARNED… SOME OF THESE PANASONICS SUFFER FROM A BUZZING NOISE PROBLEM. I had read prior reviews regarding the problem before purchasing my TC-P50GT50, but figured it wasn’t a major problem. Well, within a few hours of turning on my TC-P50GT50, I detected a buzzing noise that was more noticeable than my other Panasonic plasma (TC-46PGT24). I also noticed the buzzing noise got louder the brighter the screen got. I immediately called Panasonic’s customer service and they promptly scheduled a repair technician to come out and inspect the television without any hassles whatsoever. Within three business days a technician was at my home and ultimately determined the main motherboard was malfunctioning. Five business days later, the technician was back at my house replacing the motherboard with a new one. Now, my TC-P50GT50 works beautifully without the annoying buzzing noise. Overall, great support from Panasonic’s customer service and warranty department.

If you love movies, buy a plasma TV.

It was time to replace my 2008 not-smart Samsung 50" plasma TV. Before buying this Panasonic, I tried a Vizio 55" LED but as seems to be common with LED/LCDs, it had big trouble playing 24fps movies, despite its alleged 120Hz and image smoothing controls. I sent the Vizio back, did some online research and decided another plasma was the way to go. I'm a movie freak. I want film to play smoothly. Everyone knows that plasma is on the way out, but for film it's still better than LED/LCDs. The one thing I did not want to have happen with this unit is screen burn-in. If you're not careful, it will happen. My old Samsung had burned-in rows of dark rectangles where closed captioning appeared (I have a hearing problem). So for the first critical 100 hours of operation with the Panasonic, I did not use captioning. And now, during the day or evening when not watching TV, I turn on the screen wipe to counteract burn-in. So far, so good. :) I connected it to the Onkyo surround system I had used with my old Samsung. Works great! This unit will work with a USB keyboard. I need to get one of those. Attempting to search Netflix or YouTube using directional arrows on a remote to select letters is a royal pain in the neck.

Awesome TV. I did not think the picture could get any better since I also own a TC-P60GT50. I still own LCD tv's but I never watch them since the quality is below my Plasmas. If you can find one buy it you won't be disappointed.

    Not bright enough

Had the TV delivered on a Saturday morning. By 11pm Sunday night I had it packed up and ready to send back. In the 2 days I had I couldn't get a decent picture out of it no matter how I changed the settings. When I did get it close to bright enough it lost too much detail. Despite the worse black levels and slightly less smooth motion my 4.5 year old Samsung LCD had a better picture. I'll either get an LED or wait for OLED. If you want even remotely decent brightness(even in a dark room) stay away from this TV.

Mulitple audio issues lead to a return.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The short and sweet version. I purchased this TV based on reviews and the exceptional image I viewed in store. Got the TV home and was surprised to find you cannot turn off the built in speakers when using a speaker bar or home theater setup. Anyone who buys this set would never use the built in speakers, so to me that is a massive oversight. They have had that audio setting available on all their TVs for years, but decided to pass this round. 2nd issue which was a deal breaker. I knew I wouldn't like the onboard sound so I also bought the Sonos Playbar and wireless subwoofer system. After fiddling around with the built in speaker issues I finally got around to calibrating the Playbar, and to my surprise I discovered they actually downgrade the digital audio coming out of the optical port from the TV that I had planned on using on the Playbar. Lucky for me I had pre-wired an extra 20' optical cable in my wall above my fireplace where this TV and speaker bar were going, so I then disconnected the optical cable from the TV and used a direct connection from the Comcast X1 DVR to the Sonos Playbar and noticed right away support for the wireless subwoofer and a fuller, richer sound coming from the Playbar. So I decided in the end that if I cannot use one remote #tried two different Harmony remotes, 2nd was the Harmony Ultimate# to control the audio on the Playbar without it changing the volume on the TV built in speakers, and on top of that I had to deal with PCM 2.0 stereo output from the optical output that was too much screwing around for me. I did spend 4 days trying to get this to work and in the end took this TV back to the store where they were very helpful in getting me into a different TV that will allow me to turn off/disable the built in speakers. Just an FYI for you guys it looks like all TVs have to downgrade the optical output to stereo now due to HDMI copyright issues. The TVs will say they output Digital Dolby, or say they support DTS and Digital Dolby, but that only happens on over-the-air inputs and not HDMI inputs. So if you are wiring for your ultimate home theater pull a couple extra HDMI cable, an Ethernet cable, and an optical one before you buy anything to make sure you are covered. Whew, my hands are tired, so consider yourself up to speed!! CSVIper

SC, SU, SD Boards '7 blinks of death'

Unfortunately this appears to be a common issue developing with these Panasonic sets i.e the '7 blinks of death'! Several customers are complaining about it. The problem is caused by one, both, or all of the following boards: SC board, SD board, and SU board. Most commonly, the SC board is the one that has failed and because Panasonic have received so many complaints about this issue. I am growing tired of no reply, no call back or if a call goes thru care rep only leaves 5-6 second message that is cut short with no information off v-mail message. Heard multiple time that my emails and faxes a have not been received by Panasonic even though fax receipt shows successful transmission.

Panasonic Plasma TV Life has deteriorated

"I bought a Panasonic Plasma TV 14 months ago on the recommendation of the sales associate. (after I had done research) I was pleased with the TV up until today. It would not turn on. 5 minutes of troubleshooting with tech support determined that it needed service, which will not be covered because I am 2 months out of warranty. An internet search found that Panasonic has had numerous issues with a particular board but nothing has been done about it. Most Panasonic boards are $109. This one is $400. Hmmmm. I did not spend the money I did on this TV to find it broken in 14 months. I now have a very expensive Panasonic paperweight. I would not recommend another Panasonic product."

    Worst Purchase Ever

I bought a 55" Plasma TV (Viera VT50 series) in April 2013 from Panasonic directly and it already has a burnt image on the top left thru right side of the screen. This is after standard/normal viewing for a couple of hours a day. No console games or any funky images. TV was NOT left ON overnight on any image. The burnt image is of digits/numbers (01423 etc..) so obviously it is a Panasonic manufacturing error. Called customer service and they said not covered under warranty ?? Do not buy Panasonic plasma TVs. The very fact they don't cover the burnt image under warranty, tells me it is a common problem with their TVs. Thanks Panasonic for a defective TV and not being helpful.
