Fun at first, but gets repetitive and tedious as it goes by. You’ll find yourself using the Toad shortcuts pretty frequently in combat.

I haven't played any of the other Paper Mario's but this seems good to me. Nice graphics and very creative, finding the hidden Toad's is a lot of fun. Some of the smaller battles do get a little repetitive but eventually you can start to avoid some of them and mix it up some. Not much story of course but the characters and gameplay are good.

If you’ve played the previous Paper games this one is a bit different in format and battle style but still challenging overall. Definitely worth your money when it comes to length and difficulty. My favorite part is the dialogue and visuals. Hilarious character dialogue and beautiful imagery in each land.

Its been a while since I've played a rpg mario game and even more so for a paper mario game. Its fun to play, story is funny, but the combat setup is not that fun. I couldn't get into the spinning and setting up a line or group with the enemies. Its kind of kept me away from playing it, other than that it is fun, but not $60 fun. Wait for a price drop to at least $40, whenever that will happen.

More cartoony? Maybe I have outgrown.

I feel like the last two generations of all Mario games have turned into cartoony, linear, non-skill based, fetch quest interactive cartoons. With a partial exception to odyssey. Paper Mario’s of old required planning, strategy, tactic, resource management, consequence, and an open world feel. They were RPGs! I love Spyro and skylanders etc (played later Spyro and SkL with my kids and loved them even as an adult), but there was little challenge and consequence (I know they are aimed at kids, so it makes sense). the origami king feels a lot like those games. Skylanders at least provided a better illusion of variety and there was incentive to go back to some worlds for meaningful upgrades. I rarely feel challenged in battles anymore. And there is little incentive to explore the limited cul de sacs off the linear main road or go back, other than completion. Also when did the paper aesthetic get so…3D? Maybe I have outgrown these, but I replayed PM64 and PM:TYD in the past few years and both felt more challenging than this. Still a recommend, but I do miss Japanese game design where “cartoony” wasn’t synonymous with “kid stuff”. Your mileage may vary.

Paper Mario is a fun action/adventure game for all ages with an entertaining story and characters, and is full of funny pun filled dialogue. The battle system is the only weak link in my opinion. It is just not that fun and can become a slog during boss battles. Fortunately the many, many, toads you will save throughout the game can help you out with that.

The Origami King is a good time! While it can be a bit slow to start, the gameplay is fun and creative. It’s a simple combat system that not only has RPG elements, but puzzle elements as well. The story is an engaging one, my favorite of any Mario game personally. The best part is the writing though, as the comments made by the side characters had me laughing 100% of the time.

This is the best Paper Mario game since Super Paper Mario, or even The Thousand-Year Door, depending on your preferences. The battle systems is clever but not necessarily intuitive, so I never really got a handle on the more complicated encounters, even by the end of the game. It is, however, very well-written and beautiful to look at. I still miss partners, though.

I had so much fun playing this game! I prefer the graphics in paper Mario to the original Mario games and I loved the story line! It was a pretty long game but I wish it was longer just because I enjoyed doing it so much !

this game was fun to play. The story was cute and enjoyable. The paper puns were great and the concept of the bosses was really great. The battle system can be a bit dull at times but some thought at times but overall this was a fun a great game. Looking forward to completing this 100%

If you like the paper Mario games . .you'll know what to expect here, specifically around art style and battle system....and that's both good and really mediocre (respectively). But it is still fun and once you get your head around the battle system....it can be at least a charming little waste of time!

I have to say this game is surprisingly good the open world feel and the graphics are great and colorful the only complaint I have is the combat in this game compared to previous paper Mario games it's not the worst but more of an annoyance to do.

I've been a lifelong fan of the Paper Mario games. The original and The Thousand Year Door were big parts of my childhood and though I was late to the party, Super Paper Mario was very unique and enjoyable as well. Then, Sticker Star happened. I'm willing to bet most of you know the rest. I came to really resent that title and skipped Color Splash altogether when it looked like more of the same. However, from it's reveal, something about The Origami King captivated me and when I finally got my hands on it, it didn't disappoint. The adventure aspects and soundtrack of this game are absolutely fantastic and I can't express how glad I am that they committed to King Olly as the main antagonist rather than having Bowser randomly go crazy for a third time. For those Paper Mario faithful out there, this is not the return to form you're looking for, but if you can get past that, I'll bet you'll discover a really enjoyable game that feels like more than the sum of its parts.

From the moment I saw the trailer for this game, I knew I had to have it. I really like the story, the gameplay and design of this game. It brought back that feeling I had when I played "The Thousand Year Old Door" on gamecube. It's a worthy inclusion in your collection.

Paper Mario: Origami King is a delightful—if not kind of easy—entry into the Paper Mario franchise. If you are looking for a challenge this isn't the place. If you are looking to have a good time with a beautifully design world you've got the game for you!
