Customers are saying

Customers find value in the AR.Drone 2.0 Elite Quadricopter's ease of use and camera quality, frequently citing it as fun and a good value for the price. However, concerns exist regarding battery life and flight time, with some users also noting challenges related to range, control in windy conditions, and wind resistance. The drone's performance in windy conditions is a recurring negative point. Improvements in these areas would enhance the overall user experience.

I would recommend this AR Drone for anyone thinking of getting a beginner level drone! Not too expensive but not too cheap! A well rounded drone with excellent camera features including a built in 720p HD camera that shoots video/pictures straight out of the drone and another built in regular definition camera that shoots video/pictures down from the drone! Cool features with the cameras is that it automatically sends your video/pictures to your operating device, iPad, iPhone, android, ect. The one thing I would strongly recommend is to only fly when there are light winds present or no winds, & do not fly your drone too high in altitude when there are light winds because there could be stronger upper level winds in which you would not realize at ground level. I would only fly high altitudes when there are no winds present what so ever! Operating range is decent, 50 meters or 165 feet. Otherwise, this is an awesome recreational hobby if you enjoy radio/wifi controlled aircrafts!

I have always been a fan of Parrot drones and started with the mini drone, which might be one of my favorites, but the AR Drone 2.0 is a boss! It maneuvers just as greatly as the mini drone, although flying indoor is a bit tricky as a bigger drone needs more space. I definitely would recommend this to anyone interested in drones but doesn't want to spend the $500+ on some of the other models. Parrot makes it very user friendly and anyone can fly it! The only con I would like to see fixed is better range for the wifi connection that the drone emits

Easy to learn, doesn't go too high up or too far away. It's a lot of fun, goes super fast yet stops instantly when you let go of the controls.

I've had the drone for several weeks now and use it almost daily. Let's start with the bad news first. The battery life is really low and almost never charges to a full 100%; you'll never get more than 10 minutes of flight out of the stock battery. The drone drifts, sometimes quite badly, on windy days. The controls, when piloted through an iPad Air, are responsive, but occasionally lag (which can send the drone moving farther than intended). It is dependent upon wireless signal to control, so unless you have a super powerful iPad, you will never reach the full altitude limit. The bottom mounted camera is almost useless as it is very grainy and unclear. Now for the good. This thing is a tank! When you crash it (and you will) don't fret. I've had several crashes already and the drone pops right back up after a relaunch. The front mounted camera is pretty clear on video playback, although it won't look it from live feed. The controls are easy to learn. It comes with indoor bumpers (the indoor hull) and a bumper-less outdoor hull. It's simple to put together and replacement parts seem to be readily available online (not through Best Buy) and inexpensive. But, most importantly, this thing is FUN!!! You'll definitely want to buy this one and learn on it before you purchase one of the super expensive ones. I highly recommend this drone for anyone who is interested in drones or remote flight.

This is a great entry level drone for someone who is serious about flying quadcopters and filming. For the price, you get a lot. The drone is high quality, I've crashed it quite a few times already and it can take the beating. I would recommend buying an additional battery, my flight times average about 12 minutes depending on wind conditions and how I'm flying. The drone gets slightly less responsive when it gets below 30% battery life. I was surprised how well they did with the app for these drones. There are a lot of ways to customize your controls and the limits of the drone. For the controls being touch screen, they are surprisingly responsive. Beware direct sunlight shining on your phone/tablet screen though, that can mess with your screen's digitizer and affect the controls. Though the touch screen controls are usable, they are no substitute for real analog sticks. The camera states that it records in 720p, but you will not get that kind of clarity. It is decent, but the video will be choppy and sometimes has an underwater effect from the vibrations. It's the best video you'll get for the price. I want the DJI Phantom 3 Professional when I can afford it, but this was a great step along the way.

First off the AR Drone is capable of doing great things, it's sleek and stylish. Pros: it partially does what it says, camera is an upgrade from previous model. Cons: No optical image stabilisation, so video will be all over the place. Battery is only 1000mAH so that will give you just about 7-9 minutes of flight time. The WiFi connection system has a issues that loses the link between phone/tablet and the quadcopter. Overall it's pretty hard to control, in my two weeks with it before returning it I may have had 2 controlled flights out of about 20 one in which the AR Drone flew up about 300 feet without me controlling it. Just not something I would buy for the price.

I can not stress this enough...do not buy this product. I have spent over $120 returning defective quadricopters to Parrot. The level of craftsmanship is actually lower than some of the sub-$100 toys on the market. Overall, this is an expensive, low quality item with serious flaws. The camera-I don't know how they say it's 720p. It consistently (if you can get the usb to record) looks terrible. Looks great on your phone as you fly, but looking at it on any thing bigger is terrible quality. Shame. Image Quality-the single snapshots are just as bad, but worse is the lack of stabilization in the video. The camera is built in to the body, so every move you make is recorded. You'll feel sea sick after a while. Choppy, choppy, choppy. App-I spent the 4 dollars to get the 'Directors Mode' of the app, which is only on IOS. It promises better control, smoother flight, blah blah blah...all things that should have been part of the basic app if you ask me. I tried, but could never get it to work with my iPad. The basic Android app is slow and unresponsive, which is not qualities I look for when something is spinning around my head. Despite repeated flat trimming and re-caibration, the copter doesn't follow commands, leading to high-anxiety situations. It's not just the controls; on both app platforms, you have to repeatedly hit the settings buttons to get into them. To lose a several hundred dollar toy becasue of a mistake, I can accept; to lose it beacsue it's not responding and going into a dangerous situation, I can not. It is difficult to fly this drone responsibly. I 'll say it again: IT IS DIFFICULT TO FLY THIS DRONE RESPONSIBLY. Quality-I feel like if i look at it wrong it will break a rotor or gear. Very fragile, and hard landings are not uncommon. Hard enough, you'll be shipping it back at your expense for repair. Start that shipping fund now if you still decide to purchase this. Control-as i said in App, very little. It does not do well in ANY wind. Beware of shadows, as it gets lost and loses control. There's no magic 'home' button (that works on either of my devices anyway) that will bring the drone back of it gets out of control. There is an emergency mode which immediately cuts power to the drone, and it will fall from whatever height it is at. Be careful. Safety-for whatever reason-even Parrot could not explain-two rotors turned on while the app was off after a flight. It just happened to be as i was removing the outdoor shell to remove the battery. Even though the rotor is plastic, it spins at thousands of rpms. It's enough to cut, which it did to my hand. Not a happy camper. That and the control issues, you need a lot of luck to not injure someone or cause property damage, including the drone or yourself. Support-you will get to know many of Parrots support team. Nice people, their hands are tied with an inferior product. That's that. I don't know what my next drone will be, but it will NOT come from Parrot. I recommend you make that decision as well. Here's an example of the stunning camera quality. Or not.

I really had a lot of fun with this drone, it is perfect for a beginner and can be tweaked for the intermediate user. Pros: + Controlled by smartphone, no need for separate remote controls + Convenient + Includes two separate casings (for indoor/outdoor use) + Quieter than most drones + Nearly 100% customizable via smartphone app + Drone auto-stabilizes itself, especially in wind Cons: + Short battery life + Lower range than other conventional drones, due to smartphone control. I lost this drone on a roof of a school because the battery died and the wind began to blow it towards the roof and had gotten out of range. The drone will automatically land itself if 1) the drone is out of range and/or 2) the battery is very low. It was fun while it lasted, I would recommend this drone to anyone... just be very careful!!

I purchased the device to see how far the tech had come along. While I enjoy using the unit, I've found that the run time and control of the device leave a little to be desired. Overall, the unit will suffice as a toy or gift but for other purposes it's probably not a good fit. Additionally, the price was a bit high for its functionality when you take into consideration the cost of another device to control it.

This took some getting used to but was quickly grasped. The controls work well in joypad mode but the flight is jerky. Once you get used to how it likes to turn and stop abruptly, it is pretty fun. Keep some spare propellers and pins handy if you will fly near trees as the wind can take it sideways from time to time. The camera is a novelty as it is pretty clear but the videos are hard to watch without stabilization due to the jerky flights. For the $, highly recommended.

Bought the drone for my son (10 yrs old). Works great but need to be careful it is not flown too far out of range of the controlling device. He is able to fly on his own and keep control. The only bad part is that it is too lite to be flown in anything other then optimal conditions. If there are any types of winds controlling the drone will be difficult.

if you are looking to try out a functional drone without dropping a big chunk of money on one this is a great starter set up. Easy to use, both cameras work pretty well, smart phone is required to use though. the indoor shell is a bit delicate, but glues back together pretty easy should you crash it. outdoor use it does seem susceptible to even gentle wind, of course this is the only drone I have used so i can't compare to how other drones handle wind.

I got this for my fiance on his bday and he certainly loved it. He had issues connecting it to the cellphone, but it worked well with the tablet (iPad) The drone is very stable and the camera is amazing. Also the battery is not too bad, but he did buy two extra batteries for when we go on a full day journey.
