I love the drone but there's obviously some setbacks that could be worked on parrot is now working on these things but after buying replacing about $300 worth of things on this due to my own fault obviously poor pilot piloting skills I do recommend people to take precaution when flying. Fly aways due can happen.

I bought this a few weeks back and it is.. OK. It is good for a starter drone to get used to how to fly these things. I did not buy the extra controller, I am just using my phone to control it. The range is not very far at all (again using my phone to control it) It is about 90 to100 feet and then it looses signal with the phone and displays lagged video. If you are looking for a good drone to start out and get the hang of it and not too worried about crashing it, its worth it.

    Great Entry Level "real drone"

I highly recommend the Bebop for people who are looking for a "real" drone that can be flown outdoors but aren't looking to spend a fortune. This is definitely not a toy. It certainly isn't the top of the line outdoor drone, mechanically or technically, but it offers great bang for the buck.

I purchased this in January and never got to fly it because of the Oregon winter rain until May. When I did the one battery wouldn’t charge correctly and it wouldn’t stay level. I submitted a warranty replacement to Parrot and the one they sent me back would lift off and then immediately bob up and down about 6ft then crash to the ground without and Input from me. Needless to say it’s a piece of junk and I wasted my money, Parrot support is no help either.

First off I Paid the extra shipping to get it the next business day since my nephew was flying back to cali and i was getting it for him before he left. It didn't arrive as stated. Second The drone was decent good camera quality the only thing that kills it is that it has no expandable memory and no mic. Im deciding on returning it and getting the bebop 2 instead.

Hard to control via iPhone or iPad

I tried this out for ten days and was unable to control the flight. I watched countless videos online for assistance and the aircraft simply would not respond to my iPhone or iPad as it was for others on youtube. I have always flown a DJI phantom copter, so I do know what I am doing, but this was the first copter I tried out using wifi enabled devices as the main controller. I suspect the transmitter would work better, but then this takes you to a new (and higher) price point.

the bebop drone is a lot of fun and works great. the tab is also works great. wish I could store the videos from the drone on the SD card. but the free flight program does not have a way to do it.

    Really enjoying this Bebop drone

First I was worried. I tried to buy this drone at Apple Store yesterday and they had two bad ones (not their fault). Self-diagnostic on each indicated one bad motor out of 4. I began to have second thoughts about buying this thing. But I went to Best Buy this morning and picked it up there, getting a $60 one year warranty just in case of a problem. I checked the drone's diagnostics in store (the battery had enough life to do this) and even updated the firmware (do this!) and did a test launch. It lifted 3 feet and hovered, just as it should, then landed on command. (I'm controlling with a Samsung Galaxy 3 phone.) I went home, plugged in the battery charger, and finished reading the full downloaded manual: highly recommended. I have had multiple test launches on the first battery charge today. I am still getting used to the controls. They are not too hard, but you have to develop the reflexes. Two circles on the phone screen. Left thumb on the left circle on the phone. Move it up and down to move drone up and down. Move it left or right to rotate drone left or right. Right thumb on the other circle to activate the other controls which are managed by tilting the phone forward, back, left, or right to move the drone in that direction. It is initially easiest to have the phone facing the same direction you are. When it is facing you, the controls are reversed, and that takes getting used to. But that is really no different than any RC device. It's pretty breezy out today but the drone still stabilized and compensated for the wind. I'm impressed. The video quality is quite good and the stabilization is very impressive. Since I bought this for the video abilities, I'm really happy. I've crashed it 3 times, twice over grass and once over gravel from 6 feet up. No damage that I can tell. (Whew!) I am getting used to the controls so the crash rate should go down. I like that you can limit the height for flights to prevent accidentally going too high. I've read the scary reviews about spontaneous lift-offs, but have not encountered this. I guess it's the january firmware update that fixed this, which is why I made sure to update before flying it at all. Downloading video to my MacBook Pro was easy. Just download the Android File Transfer app from the web (not in the App Store) and it treats the drone like an Android device. Plug it in, and the App opens it like a folder. Select, drag to copy, delete from menu, All easy. Downsides? Plugging the battery in first time was tricky, but then I got the plug to come out further by tugging on the battery. Hard to explain. .In the first (failed) drone I was going to buy, there was a string attached to the plug that pulled it out into position, but my current one doesn't have that string attached to the plug. I think the string is supposed to be attached to the battery to help hold it in place, but I have not figured that out yet. The velcro strap holds it very well though. Even on crashes. It would be nice if battery life was more than 11 minutes, but that is actually more fly time than it seems. I like that it comes with 2 batteries, but I may get 2 more. ($30 each). So, I like this thing. But if you buy it, I would do in person if possible. Download the Freeflight 3 App before you even go to the store, and pre-download the firmware updates to your phone. Also watch the training videos and read the instructions. Then when you go to the store, ask to test the drone before you even leave. Do a wifi hookup to your phone. Go to the "start" screen on the Freeflight 3 App, and press the settings (the gear). Then slide over several screens to the next to last screen where the diagnostics are to make sure it is all working. I don't know if you have to update frmware first to do this. I did, but that takes a few minutes, and maybe you can check diagnostics first. If you want to do a test launch UPDATE FIRMWARE FIRST. You don't want a rogue drone attacking you or other folks. Then take it home, charge it up, and practice in a safe area. The battery is charged now. I'm going back outside.

This is a great beginner device to introduce the basics of flying. It costs the same as building one. It does take some getting use to on the flight controls

The Bebop is fun to fly...WHEN IT WORKS. It has lost communication with my son's IOS device several times, causing it to "have a mind of its own." We have had to look for it several times after it loses communication and crashes. Waaaaay too buggy for my taste.

I really enjoy my Bebop. Flying it is fairly intuitive and the video is amazingly good. Longer battery life would make it even better, but I still give it a 4+.
