Stephen King's 1989 Pet Sematary

About this film, directed by Mary Lambert, full of scares and creepy scenes. Without giving up the plot, the scene where Louis Creed, played by Dale Midkiff, wakes up after a vivid dream to learn he did go to the Pet Sematary. Supporting cast Fred Gwynne as neighbor Jud and Denise Crosby as Rachel Creed the wife, who has plenty of childhood horror of her own. This new print was remastered. The colors are now vivid and picture quality sharp. It was like seeing the details of the film for the first time!

Best buy rules when it comes to steel book exclusives, this was no exception, the transfer was pretty good to 4k, but most of all love the movie!!!

Synopsis: Dr. Louis Creed, having just moved to Maine with his wife and two children, is heartbroken when he finds that his daughter's beloved cat has been hit by a truck and killed. Thankfully, a strange, elderly neighbor called Jud knows a secret that may spare the young girl's tears. He takes the dead cat to an ancient Indian burial ground that lies hidden in the surrounding hilltops; and when he buries the feline there, it comes back to life a few days later. But Louis can't be trusted with the secret, and, despite strong warnings that something horrible will happen, he uses the power of the burial ground to bring his son back from the dead.

PET SEMATARY (1989) 4K+BLU-RAY STEELBOOK

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS MOVIE...and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS 4K+BLU-RAY+DIGITAL Best Buy Exclusive Steelbook, featuring the artwork of MONDO X. On 4K, the detail, color timing and color correction (supervised by Mary Lambert) is absolutely solid. The audio is crisp and clear and delivers to all the right speakers...screams...music...echoes from the pet cemetery... This is the definitive release of (in my opinion) Stephen King's scariest scareshow to date. Highly reccommended!

A Horror Classic

This film scarred me as a kid, so this one definitely holds a candle of nostalgia for me. Seeing it on 4K, the restoration is absolutely gorgeous. The reds and blacks really jump off the screen and present the cleanest possible image you could imagine.
If you haven’t seen this film, this is a true horror classic that will certainly give you a great viewing experience, especially if you like the 2019 remake. It comes backed with both new and original/vintage special features and making of featurettes, as well as a free digital redemption code.

PET SEMATARY IS STILL SCARIER THAN EVER

The original PET SEMATARY, not the 2019 remake, remains one of Stephen King's scariest novels and screenplays. This 30th Anniversary version looks great, sounds great, and stills remains one of the scariest movies ever.
From beginning to ending, you are always on the edge of your seat, never knowing what's happening next. Beautifully directed, and by a woman too, King knew even 30 years ago who could master his brilliant scary screenplay.
The 2019 remake has its moments, but the 1989 version still stands as the best of the two films.

Another Steel Book for my Video Library

Movie is the earlier version of a remake, which I was also able to find in Steel Book. For the price that is charge on these, I sort of would expect the full disk collection DVD/Br/3D/4K, But the Steel Books seem to be holding up better than the plastic cases, which seem to get brittle and break after a couple of years. Would help if they would have replacement inserts that would make it possible to store the four formats (maybe soon five with 8K) in the one case, instead of having to have several cases of the same movie on the shelf.

This movie was a great one way back when I seen it. Rewatching it again with my wife, it was even better this time around and it was a great movie to rewatch before the new pet semetary comes out.
The steelbook is one of the best steelbooks I have ever seen. I love the combination of matte and gloss and the inner artwork.. I can’t stand a steelbook without inner artwork, they seem dull and plain. And to top it off, it has a plastic slip for the steelbook itself. Highly recommended! P.S I love the shiny cat eyes on the cover.

Man, as you all know that when some company or hollywood takes it upon themselves to try and get a film made of one of Stephen Kings great novels, it always seem to not translate well to the screen. Don't have any idea if its the writers or directors but whatever. Theres only two or three that are really well done thet I have in my collection, and this is one that I had put off for awhile. Its worth having, and its a creepy movie that makes your hair stand up on your neck.

. An intense horror movie! Redefines the genre by delivering a solid plot with a scary lead actor and multiple chilling moments. A little bit of pacing issues could've been handled well but the end takes the viewer by surprise. Christian Bale is effective. I first saw him as Batman and now as Bateman...His performance is outstanding! It's hard to decide which genre it actually comes under because it blends multiple genres: horror, drama, crime, thriller etc. But I would classify it as horror because even without the chills, the lead character still is pretty menacing.

I'm quite impressed by this 4k, considering that Pet Sematary was never really a "looker". Compared to bluray, it's almost like watching the film for the first time. I wish there were more special features, especially the feature length making of doc that came out a few years ago, but overall, a great package for fans of King and this great adaptation.

This was an upgrade for me and the PQ is better than the original Blu-ray. Colors and grain are great. There is some super small revisionist with a couple of frames/scenes, but they don't change the story and honestly, I wouldn't have known if I wasn't told. It isn't the Star Wars special editions, lol. On a package level, I love the new cover art and the weathered look of the slipcover. Fans of the film should feel comfortable with it.

Well worth the price! This is one of my favorite SK movies from the 80's and seeing it now in 4K with HDR is amazing! There have been some very minor changes (such as color timing and editing) to the movie but nothing that takes away from it. I watched this on my 119" screen and the picture quality is great! Very filmic which is wonderful for watching a projected image. Highly recommended!

Love the look of the steelbook, well done by Mondo. Note that this version does not come with a poster. There is a FYE exclusive one that comes with the poster. However that version does not have a 4k version, just regular blu-ray. Another bonus with the steelbook is the discs come with art on them, as oppose to the regular 4k disc that are plain. Something to keep in mind for collectors
