Great Feeder for Single Pet Use

This is a great feeder! Setup was easy and it works exactly like it's suppose to! The food portions are precise and the timing is accurate. It is very dependable. The phone app is also easy to navigate. Sometimes the Petnet network is down for maintenance, but the feeder has an internal memory and the daily scheduled feedings still happen as usual. So the network downtime is not an issue. The only downside is that if you have more than 1 pet you might need to buy a second feeder to accommodate both pets. Like my one cat eats all the food and doesn't leave any for my other cat. But I knew this could be an issue upon buying the product, so it was not a surprise and I am very pleased with my Best Buy purchase.

My feeder had a charging problem after about a month. I called Petnet and they were really nice about sending me a whole new Petnet feeder. They didn't bug me with providing a receipt of purchase, they simply asked for my address, and solved the issue. The new feeder works great!

I was a little reluctant to buy this after reading the reviews of how the food doesn't completely go down the ramp. I bought it and sure enough, that's the issue. I was going away for 2 weeks and was afraid that my cat would starve. I propped the machine up on a book and it seemed to do just fine. After registering my product, petnet sent me an email for a free ramp and it's made all the difference!!! Since I got the ramp, NO issues and the unit looks complete. I absolutely love it and my cat doesn't bother me at night to be fed.

I purchase the smartfeeder regardless of the negative review mostly related to connectivity issues/smartfeeder offline. For sure, I did have the same problem on day 2, but customer service was helpful enough to find out the base had a defect and immediately they sent me a replacement as they said the product has 2 year warranty. I received the replacement and it works amazingly. My dog now does not have to wait longer hours for me to get home and eat but now she can have her meals on time and even a quick snack at noon thanks to the scheduling functionality. I came to realized that in order for the feeder to always online needs to be connected to the wall charger because if not, the feeder will go offline and missed the scheduled meal as the backup battery only last 10 hours. Now it's plug all the time and it is always online, and if there is a power outage there is the back up battery to rescue. My recommendation, give it a shot, be pacient and get familiar with the functionality to avoid the mistake I made originally.

Almost perfect

I will just list my disappointments:
- The food does not dispense completely into the bowl. A large part of the portion backs up in the inaccessible chute. Therefore I am not confident in the portion size. Seems like this could have been engineered away.
- The unit is light and my overeager bully really pushes the thing around.
- The iOS App does not allow for using Facebook for login. Why must every service want to maintain its own user accounts database? I really do not want to maintain a separate username and password for a dog feeder.
- The device/app is designed for a bachelor. No ability to maintain a family therefore the credentials must be managed and offered to everyone. This just makes for a poor experience.
- No Alexa support.
- Price. If the above were not issues then maybe the $150 would be worth it. As is I think this is a $80 device.
- App presented an error during setup because I walked around the house once to find the dog and I believe the setup connection to the server timed out. I went back a few screens and then forward again and it succeeded. Fortunately the data and photo I took were retained so the hassle was minimal. Just not a "perfect" experience and a "normal" (non techy person) might have not known what to do.

Finally a review for a big dog

1) had to tilt the feeder forward to allow all the food to flow into the bowl BUT
2) my dog is 90lb large breed so his 1cup of food and size of food is why it doesn't all fit freely
3) there is no indicator when food is dispenses but my dog hears it hitting the bowl from anywhere in the house
4) VERY large food database in Petnet system to calibrate food size and give analysis of food ingredient
I bought this feeder because my dog is prone to stomach issues and needs 3 meals a day. That has never been possible with my schedule but has worked great with petnet. I push feed his meal in the mornings and have 2 others set for the rest of the day.
Common complaint in other review was their app and lack of computer access. I've had no problems and find the app VERY user friendly. I use this feeder to supplement a meal in the day and don't "rely" on it to feed my dog since I am here morning and night. I have been very pleased with this purchase despite hesitating to buy!

I installed this pet feeder about a year and a half ago, and it's simply amazing, We use it to feed our cat. Our other cat, we used to simply leave the food out for her, and she ate whenever she wanted. Our current cat will eat ALL THE TIME and got very heavy, so we had to put her on a diet. We have this feeder set to feed her twice a day, in amount prescribed by our vet. I think the feeder is a bit 'generous' with the amount, but it also seems to depend on the type of food you use. The smaller the pellets, the more generous the portion seems to be. The company recently sent me a plastic bottom that elevated and angled the food tray so that all the food dispenses better. This was a GREAT innovation, and they sent it to me for free!!
The customer service (if you need it) is excellent. I had to call to get help connecting the unit to our new wi-fi, and the gentleman who assisted me was extremely helpful. I absolutely love this feeder and don't know what I'd do without it.

We bought petnet almost a year ago. At first there were a few glitches. Cust service helped tremendously. Every once in a while their server had a blip - BUT BUT BUT - we havent had any issues since.. and we purchased basically when this product was a start-up -- so we expected these issues. My now husband was really bad a keeping his dog on feeding schedule, and he and I were out alot when we we were dating..so the poor dog didnt get his dinner at a regular time all the time.. so i saw this and thought - here is our solution! - he gets a 1.5 cups in the morning - found out that 1 manually measured cup is about 1.5 cups for this feeder to feed him the proper amount.. at dinner he gets normally 2 cups - so we have it set 7pm, for 1.5 cups and at 7:02 1.5 cups which equals his 2 manually measured cups. This is awesome bc it slows him down eating, and he gets to enjoy his meal instead of scarfing it down and looking for more. He runs to the feeder when he hears it start to dispense. Only trouble I have is reminding the hubby to refill - about every 6 days, but the app does tell you when its running low - but ive found that isnt always consistent, dont know why -- but doesnt matter, we still check the hopper every few days and refill - honestly, BEST purchase for our dog to date. I would highly recommend to everyone - and i have! people are in awe when they come to our house!

Exactly what I was looking for to feed my 11 lb dachshund while away from home. I loved the ability to feed her 'snacks' several times daily to supplement her regular meals. I set the program to dispense 1/16 c 4x daily. Simple set up and programming, alerts on your iPhone, all wonderful. It worked perfect for 3 days then suddenly it started dispensing 1/2 c feelings at random unscheduled times. Good thing I was home as she started gobbling the food before I could stop her. She threw it up and I threw out what was still in the bowl. This happened two more times the most recently this morning at 5:49AM! I called customer service and left a message but have yet to receive a response. I've ordered another brand and plan to return this feeder today. I am truly disappointed as I wanted to love this feeder.

NOT to be trusted as a feeder if you are away!

I purchased this as a last minute replacement to a feeder that didn't turn out well. I did have a neighbor stop in to check on my cat in case it didn't work out well. The setup wasn't bad, walked it thru a few feeding cycles, left home, then a few days later i tried to check the app for the feeding cycles, but it wasn't connecting somehow. I tried to send a few manual feeds through, but they didn't seem to go, then a few hours later, it sent them and the bowl was too full. After that, it settle down and behaved for the most part, with my neighbor checking to make sure as well as giving the cat some attention. Getting home, i tried to give it the benefit of a doubt, but after passing the 15 day return, it gave me a "lost communication to bowl" error message 4 hours after the manual feed worked once. Mind you I can see the bowl AND my wifi router from the chair i was sitting in to do this.
In hindsight, I should have taken it back right away, Best Buys 15 day return made that impossible now. The good news is that Best buy got its last $150 it will ever get from me, as there are MANY other merchants still giving a 30+ day return policy.
Lesson learned
