Overall I was really happy with this purchase but I exchanged it for an xbox one S since it also plays 4K DVD and 3D and I also use it for games. However I will say the quality of the 3D and 4K was noticeably better on this player than the xbox which makes me wish I kept it. It also is small compared to the Samsung players and comes with a copy of Creed the first good Rocky movie since Rocky 4.

The picture quality is great, it is easy to set up, and the upscaling from 1080P to 2160P is better than my previous player.

This is a great Blu-ray, very easy to use and great picture, even though I have only seen 4 movies so far. The only reason I didn't give 5-stars for this machine is, there are many buttons on the remote to do many things, but no guide to tell you what some of them are. Only to how to hook it up to your system, and a few functions. Fortunately you can go on Phillips web site and download a very detailed instruction manual to do many things for the player.

Just having bought a 4K TV with HDR from Best Buy, I wanted to have a player capable of all current formats. This Phillips works just fine and was on-sale. It's slow to load but has not faltered through 4K and Standard Blu Ray, not to mention 3d Blu Ray discs. DVDs are good as well. The small footprint helps too. Only reason it didn't get a 5 is because it's slow loading discs. Maybe all 4K players are at this pint in time.

Just a great little machine. I almost went with a different more expensive device, glad I didn't. The Philip's offers everything I needed in a 4K player in a small footprint. With the added bonus of giving my one button access to my Netflix shows!!! Binge watching has never been easier. The picuture is fantastic, it's what you'd expect from a 4K player on a 4K TV.

I had been looking at a 4k Blu-ray player for awhile. Being a fan of another brand I was disappointed when Best Buy was sold out on Black Friday. To my surprise there was one left of the Phillips 4k player. I did a quick dash for the box, held on for dear life while I read other Best Buy reviews. I felt some were mixed.. so I took a chance! And I'll just put it out there... This was the BEST investment to enhance my home theater set up. This paired perfectly with my Samsung SUHD 55" 4k TV and my Samsung surround sound. I've moved most my movies over to 4k or Blu-ray. I almost feel like being at the movies watching a movie at home. I wasn't sure about the 4k upscaling for DVD and Blu-ray movies. While I haven't tested a DVD, I have tried many Blu-ray movies and I am quite impressed. If you are unsure, I totally recommend going for it!

I recently bought a 4k tv at Best Buy and needed to get a 4k Blu-ray player for it. I went to Best Buy all set to get the Samsung player (the only other model available) when I noticed this one for 20 dollars less. I compared the specs and saw how much smaller the Phillips player was and I bought it instead. It came with a free 4k movie in the box and I was very impressed with the performance and simplicity of the player itself.

4k picture quality. Check. DTS:X surround sound. Check. LAN and wifi connectivity. Check. It simply delivers what it was designed for. And yes, although the packaging only states sound support up to DTS HD Master and Dolby True HD, because of the player's bitstream ability, and as long as your A/V receiver contains support, you will receive DTS:X and Atmos surround sound. What are you waiting for? Go get one!

Only knock is song titles not displayed for CDs. But that is also the case with Samsung and Panasonic. The Oppo 203 will display that info when it hits the market. Other than that, regular blurays look so good I do not feel the need to buy the 4K versions. Am extremely satisfied with the look, feel, sound and ease of use. Philips did fantastic for only $300!

Have been very pleased with this player. Couldn't be simpler to install and use. Exceptional 4K picture quality, everything I hoped for. As the only potential con, it only has the Youtube and Netflix apps, but not an issue for me as those are my main apps and I have all the others from my SmartTV, PS4, etc. Philips really delivered with this, great quality and value. Get it!

This unit does everything it is supposed to very well. Combine that with a small foot print and a price to match and you have a winner. It only has Netflix and You tube "apps" which are plenty in my opinion. If you need more get them through your smart tv, or box or your computer or your phone etc. Bottom line I think that this is the best value in 4K UHD out there.

First 4k player, so hard to compare to Samsung. Picture looks good on 75" LG 4k with HDR in bright mode. Loads a little slower than other Blu Ray players and I found it has a some trouble reading some Blu ray disc menus'. A few discs would show the top menu so I had to find chapters from the jacket cover--otherwise it serves its purpose.

I bought this for my guest room's 65" 4K 3D TV. The unit itself seems to work very well. It has played everything I have thrown at it. I even have some multi-region Blu-rays and no issues playing them. Some of my other players have not. If you want to play 4K movies, you must set the video to AUTO. The player scales everything to 4K. If you change it to anything else then it will force all video to that setting. Where the player is lacking is the non-disc features. The DLNA player is VERY picky about the file types. My other players will stream about anything. It also only has YouTube and Netflix to stream on-line videos. The only plus is that Netflix is the HDR version. If your TV is a SmartTV with Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, etc. and all you need is a basic player, then this is the one for you. If you need all the on-line bells and whistles, then wait for other manufacturers to jump on the 4K UHD bandwagon.

Does not have many apps. There are only two apps available YouTube and Netflix. But for the price it is a good 4K player. I also like that it's not a big 4K player, like the Samsung player. Watching movies like Superman and Batman vs Superman in 4K is just a great experience.

Bought this unit instead of the other Blu-Ray 4K player that was at Best Buy. I missed the Black Friday special on the Samsung and I am glad it worked out that way. The Phillips is about half the size of the Samsung and is much better constructed. It has an incredible picture when viewing a 4K Blu-Ray and the upscaling of regular Blu-Ray movies takes them to almost a 4K quality picture. The internal menus are critical for adjusting the signal being sent to the TV and you will probably have to adjust a few settings on the TV to get an optimal picture. My conclusion is that I highly doubt that the Samsung and other offerings on the market could be worth the hundreds of dollars more than my Phillips. My only problem has been that the separate power unit that plugs in to the back of the player is hard to hide in my current home entertainment cabinet.

I bought this to go with a new 4k TV I recently purchased. It looks quite nice and well built. It does not have a display, but that was no big deal for me. Overall, I am happy with this player. The picture quality is excellent (especially with the LG 75" TV I bought, which I love), and it is a no frills type player that does what you need it to do without any needless "bells and whistles". My only reason for deducting a star, is that it takes a very long time to boot up and also to read discs. I updated the firmware to the latest version, but still find it takes quite a long time. I can live with this, as it seems a quality 4K player, but would not rate it as "oerfect".

I Wanted to upgrade from my up scaling,3d, 4k dvd player, but the price of the majority of players are cost prohibitive! I was about to walk out of my local Best Buy, when I decided to speak to an associate, telling him about my disdain of the prices, he went into the rear of the department and returned with the Phillips,I couldn't believe it was half the price of the others! Well needless to say I purchased it with the extended warranty, got it home and HOLY COW!!! What a difference from "up scaling" players to the real thing!!! As far as I can tell, the main difference from the others is it doesn't have as many apps,it's a great machine and more than worth the price!!! And it also does 3D!!! Phillips and Best Buy knocked it out of the ball park with this one!!! Phillips is once again a major player in the electronics sector !!!!!
