I just couldn't come to purchase the 4K player from Samsung - I personally don't like the curvature of their products, the display model looked cheap and flimsy which was confirmed by the online reviews and I didn't think it was worth $400. I was able to pick up this Philips unit for $100 (after sale price, and gift cards), and it is money well spent. My local Best Buy only had one, and it was my lucky day! Even at $279 this is a great buy. Out of the box, it looks like a MacMini on steroids. Quality construction throughout, even down to the remote. Two buttons on top - power and eject. Set up couldn't have been simpler. Plug it in, make the connections on Wi-Fi, download the update and that's it! No longer than 10 minutes. The picture is outstanding in 4K (I have it connected to a Sony 65" 4K set). So what the only aps are Netflix and YouTube, but those are the only one's I watch any way. I can't say enough great things about this product. I think it's been discontinued, but If you can find one, buy it. You won't be disappointed!

Worth The Money

If you are looking for a 4k dvd player and don't want to spend the big money on the Panasonic this is the one for you. Blows the Samsung out of the water. DVd's look fantastic on here and it streams 4k off of Netflix like a breeze. Does a much better job streaming than my brand new sony xbr 930-d smart tv and they are sitting right next to each other. For the price I am very pleased with this purchase. I was very nervous when I first decided to purchase this. I have seen the Samsung 4k dvd player at my friends house and didn't want any part of that noisy thing. I didn't want to fork out the big money for the Panasonic. That left this one and I am over joyed with it so far.

Nice little package with excellent performance. Having dual HDMI outputs made setup with our home theater receiver a breeze. Controls are easy, works with our Harmony 700 remote. Only minor drawback is a slight lack of tension on the front drawer, making it not always shut completely.

My purchase was strictly spur of the moment, but ended up taking a little over an hour when researching and reading box information and Goggle information.
The Phillips 4K Blu-Ray player was a great choice and has great features. The size factor is perfect. The device has a very small footprint and fits perfectly in my audio component area.
Of note with this player, you must use a 4K compatible cable from Player Out to the HDMI Port HDCP2.2 on your TV for a true 4K Experience. You also need to make sure your settings reflect a 4K connection at either 8bit, 10bit or 24bit passthrough, based on your TV HDMI Port.
Blu-Rays load EXTREMELY fast with this player. It is pretty much a straightforward set up for the device, other than the 4K settings. We are very pleased with the device and it holds up against larger name brand competitors. Our motivation was not cost savings but rather features and this hit everyone of my check-offs.

I had the Samsung K8500 and didn't like it. I have been waiting for the Philips BDP7501. Very nice unit smaller then your typical blu-ray player. Missing Amazon streaming app but for price and how sleek it is a
keeper. Comes with HDMI cable and Creed Movie :)

We needed an UHD player to go with our new tv and the aesthetics of this one appealed. The performance has lived up to the initial impression. Functions arw intuitive and setup was a breeze. One does need 2 HDMI cables if one is sending sound to a receiver/amp.

I am very happy with the quality of the video. I specifically bought this for my 4K tV, and grabbed a few movies in Ultra 4K and was extremely pleased with the functionality of this player. The price was right, and even my blu rays pop a bit more here.

Overall this player is a winner. 4K clarity and HDR is fantastic.

Easy to set up. Easy to use. Remote is well built but the eject button is located where the play button should be.
Value- upscales regular dvds nicely. Makes blu rays look spectacular and 4K dvds awesome.

The 4K Blu-ray player works well. Plays 4K and up converts Standard Blu-ray to 4K. Plays USB devices also. The user interface has very basic graphics, could be updated to provide a better user experience.

Since there are only two UHD blu-ray players on the market to choose from the Philips for me was the easy choice, being $100 less than the Samsung and including Creed in the box. The hardware looks a heck of a lot nicer too. I read the Samsung loads discs a bit faster, but this is bar none the better value. I only give it four stars because it only supports HDR 10 and not Dolby Vision, although ditto for the Samsung. Otherwise this is a near flawless machine with a nice remote and interface. Everything about it carries the look and feel of the $300 price point when compared to my old Samsung and Sony 3D blu-ray players. I love it.

I have a Sony XBR 4K HDR Tv. The blu ray upconversion is superb. I watched Transformers 4 and the Jungle Book looked excellent. For the 4K HDR was good but only worked well in 8bit ( I hope I'm saying this correctly). 10bit panels Sony/Samsung) do not look right with Philips' setting at 12bit (I think this is Dolby Vision). If it had a 10 bit setting it'd be 4.5-4.7 stars. However the UI is basic but practical. Allows you to further tweak you picture for personal preference. Does not have an Amazon video app but does have Netflix and YouTube. This is a good purchase. Possibly better for an LG, Philips, or Vizio 4K HDR Tv

Great product. Plays 4k very well, no problems so far. Easy to set up and the picture quality is amazing. The free 4k copy of Creed definitely was a great bonus to my purchase.
