Having a limited budget but looking at my options , between Samsung and Philips I immediately went for Philips .The design language and sleek style and quality is what sold me(Samsung looks like an insulting betamax player ).The Philips device itself is very lightweight including the GUI ,and plays movies perfectly, it supports HDMI link control with my 4k Sony TV so I only use one remote for everything PS4 pro etc. ! One remote ! :) Having over 2k dollars of failed Samsung short lifespan junk , it was immediately obvious that paying 30 more dollars over Samsung easily pays for itself. Great product period.

Best value of any UHD player currently available. Very nice looking. It loads 4K HDR DVD's reasonably fast and excellent image even when paying Blue Ray discs.

This is a great product. Has a small footprint instead of being a large addition to your entertainment center. Easy to set up and the remote is easy to use.

You won't make a mistake purchasing the Philips unit. Chose it over the Samsung 4K player, because of picture quality, sound and ease of use are better.

This player is an excellent value, specially for the price. It set up easily and the playback quality is great. I also like the small footprint.

We bought this player for our 4K t.v. It is very easy to use and the video is smooth, bright and clear. Very happy with this purchase.

This Philips player paired right up with my 9500 series 55" Samsung curve. It doesn't take long at all to load up a 4k movie and is very quiet and built sturdy. I also liked the smaller size of this unit compared to others. It also shows you what it is playing in such as 1080p or 4k-2160p. I was always a Samsung person but their 4k player was flimsy compared to this one. Now I can finally see the actual 4k-2160p that this tv puts out since cable companies only broadcast in 1080. What a difference from 1080.

I bought my 4k TV in May of 2016. My original plan was to skip getting a 4k player and just stream. A big issue with that is the audio. The Sony ultra movies only have 2 channel audio. Some players don't have 2 HMDI outputs either, so I would need (another) new receiver. This player is value priced, solves the audio issue by having two HDMI outputs - one for video/audio and one for audio only (if needed).

After months of debating between this model or the Samsung model I finally chose the Phillips. After reading several reviews for both models it appeared to me that more purchasers had ultimately returned the Samsung 4K player. I am very pleased with my purchase. Setup was easy and disc startup is fast. I have only viewed The Martian and The Magnificent Seven so far but I was impressed. Colors are more vibrant and images are crisp and clear. Noticeable improvement over 1080p.

The player was more of a dark gray rather than black. I was pleasantly surprised how easy this was to use, after connecting to the network the unit performed an update which took about 15mins but it added features that were not listed on the box. Discs slide in/out easy. The next most awesome thing about this player is that it has a seperater HDMI audio only which is great for me since I have a non-4K Audio System but style able to connect directly to the player for 7.1.

Well worth the price. Using 4K ultra movie that came with the package. Have not yet used an older CD without the 4K

I compared the Samsung & this Philips 4K player. Both offered the same features. But the Samsung was at a higher price and did not come any extras like the Philips did. With the Philips I got the 4K movie Creed and a 4K HDMI cable. I would have to buy them separate with the Samsung which was already at a higher costs. Works and looks great on a 4K tv.

This is my first 4K DVD player. It was very easy to hook up and easy to operate. Absolutely love the size of it!

I wanted the Samsung 4K player, but they were out. This plays 4K content, and works extremely well.

I bought this DVD player with full knowledge of its strengths and weaknesses. Strengths... good blu ray player for the price. Might be the best performing 4K UHD player for the Epson 5040/6040 projector. Weaknesses... YouTube and Netflix are the only apps you will find on this device. I hope they expand this to at least few more with an update. Overall this is a solid player and would recommend it.

I like the 4 k player it is has a sharp picture and at a good price point excellent 4K player

I was debating between a Samsung UHD and the Xbox One, both kind of pricy. I ended up with the Philips because it was on sale and, though the xbox was only $50 more, I don't game... at all. So far, I have had no issues. The quality of the 4K is great (my TV is a Samsung). If you research the specs, there really isn't much different between this and the much more expensive Samsung player.

This is my first Blue Ray player. Easy to use, great set-up. And of course great picture.
