Exceptional light show for both Video and Audio

Outstanding sync with your TV (video signal) and audio signal when listening to audio. All connections are via HDMI. There is no microphone to sync the audio as some other lights sync with audio only. You need a Hue hub, in addition to hue lighting. If you connect an AVR to the Sync Box, and you want to sync with an audio only source, you need to make sure that your AVR is sending audio over the HDMI signal. Most AVRs only send video through the "TV out", because the AVR processes the audio for the connected speakers. This would not be a problem if connecting the TVs ARC HDMI audio to a soundbar or equivalent. All-in-all, provides a great compliment to both watching an audio/video source and audio-only source. Watching a concert is spectacular, as your Hue lights will sync to the lighting on the concert stage. Just a little closer to feeling like your there! If you still have a 3D TV/setup, it will not sync with a 3D blu-ray disk. But, not a problem for most.

Way too pricey for a hdmi splitter. This should be packaged like the hue bridge when you buy the gradient light strip. I love the experience of playing games in a room that changes color with my actions on screen. Super fun and immersive. I spent way too much money setting all that up, but now that I have it I love it. If you bought the gradient light bar buy this.

Watching movies are so much enjoyable with the Hue Play HDMI Sync. Set up was easy and once that is done you can immediately add lights that will mimic the lighting from the show that you are watching. The best movies to watch with this are action movies with lots of explosions lol. It's a bit pricey though.

The Sync box is such a cool product, it takes a few minutes to get everything set up with your Hue lamps but the end result is stunning. Very immersive experience with the Gradient light setup, very happy with the unit!

Does what it needs to. Makes the lights work great with the stuff on screen. The control is a little off and doesn't turn on when you need it to all the time but it's a minor annoyance. A little overpriced in my opinion.

This is a great product to have your surround sound of lights sync with with your shows, movies, and music. Price is steep for sure especially knowing you can get the same function on your computer for free.

Nice hdmi synch box. Pricey, but should be worth it. I’m waiting until the tv light strips are available to hook up so can’t really give an opinion just yet but typing this for BB points.

Works great with NVIDIA Shield, and 2015 Samsung TV

Shockingly easy to get connected.
My setup is NVIDIA Shield TV -> Denon X3300W Receiver -> Samsung UH8700 , so an old (2015) TV, a receiver that's a few years old, and a "new" NVIDIA Shield TV. I put the Sync box between the Receiver and TV, and it "just worked". Really. Installed the Hue Sync app on my phone, followed the instructions (which were basically "push the blue button on the hub"), and tada.
Since I use my receiver to change video sources (although 99% of the time it's just the Shield), I haven't done anything with the Sync box other than connect one input and one output, but it was super simple.

While this works with a Dolby vision it washes out the colors and reduces sound quality for Dolby Atmos. Pairing this with a LG Oled and Sonos sound system was not good at all. I do not recommend. Wait for a new model that has better support and hdmi 2.1 support.

Works great! If you can get it refurbished I’d say do it! It may be stupid to mention for some, but keep in mind this will only work if you run an HDMI through it (so like gaming systems or Amazon fire stick etc). If you run apps through the TV it will not work. Works great with my light set up! Awesome with music (via app), really makes it a surreal experience.

I don't know why this was returned but it works perfectly fine. I have seen reviews where they say it lags but mine does not lag. It's because your Internet is terrible people. Sorry but that is the truth. The lights are very accurate when it comes to timing the picture on my tv. No lag at all that I can notice. My modem and router are in the same room. So if you want to have a no lag light show, purchase wifi room extenders circling your main router and modem....and also upgrade to gigabit internet. The tv lightstrip I got is the 65inch gradient hue light strip for my 60inch which fits perfectly l, all the way to each corner so the light covers the tv. I have hue light bars on my floor pointing up diagonally to my mounted tv. And so far this setup is much better than having them attached behind my tv bottom. If you have a 60inch tv do get the 65inch gradient light strip instead. I will be adding more to my setup with the 4 new GO's. This is a very too honest review I think and I apologize but the main tip here would be to get your internet upgrade to gigabit first and then setting up your main modem router in the center OR in the same room where you wish to add your lights in. The only thing would be that when I hooked up my comcast flex box into my hue box, the hue box will not turn on unless I physically press the button and then my comcast will not activate so I just unplug my comcast flex box , restart my comcast service , then the comcast apps show up...no biggy. If there is a way to fix this then I am open to suggestions.

I thought this would be a cool upgrade for my current gaming setup with the Xbox series X on my 65” lg CX. However I found that it doesn’t allow hdmi 2.1 pass through and cuts back on the 120hrz capabilities as well as sound quality. This was very upsetting along with the fact that I couldn’t even get the thing to work! $450 led backlight setup is unheard of and should be bulletproof if you’re paying that much. So I “downgraded” to the Govee immersion kit and wow am I impressed, it’s practically the same thing for $70! If you’re looking for syncing you ambient lights with your tv I recommend Govee.

In my opinion, it’s extremely overpriced. It’s just another thing to add to your Hue eco system. Works fine, but it’s one of them things that I don’t see myself using as much as I thought. I think the problem is mainly that you have to turn it on through the app. Even if this was half the cost, it’s not worth it.

Difficult Set Up

Difficult to set up initially. Had issues getting it to connect to the same WIFI as the Hue Bridge. Had to reset and run through set up multiple times to get it to finally detect / connect to my main Wi-Fi. I wanted to stick with Philips Hue as I have multiple lights / set up already. However, for the price of the Play Sync Box, and lights, the set up and ease of use should be easier.
