A good but sometimes annoying sensor

I recently set one of these inside, up above my side entrance of my house which leads through the kitchen. I have recessed lighting that are the hue bulbs, so I thought what a great place, for walking in with groceries or kids or whatnot, not having to worry about flipping on the lights. That part it does its job. The customizing part of the sensor is pretty nifty as well, where you can put it at super sensitive, so mid day, your dog or cat isn't going to walk into the room and turn on the lights, or you can make it super sensitive where a window shade moving in the wind can set them off. So there is a nice balance where you can set it to be easier for your needs. The annoying thing, well to save money on lights, if they get turned on when im not home, I don't want them to sit on for however long, so I have the timer to dim them to turn off set at the shortest possibility, which I believe is 30 seconds. So if I am cooking and what not at the counter and not really moving, my combination of low sensitivity means my lights go off constantly, and I have to stop what i'm doing and give the sensor a good ole wave. I've now know this, so before I cook, or spend a prolong time in the kitchen I will turn the sensor off and just tell my google home to keep the lights on, and problem solved. Overall it's a nice product, and I can't really knock it for how i've got it set up. The price isn't that bad and it has a nice array of customizing features that should make anyone who wants to use it happy.

I have this motion sensor set up in my walk-in closet. While true that it only saves me about 5 seconds per day (I don't have to yank the light chain anymore!), there is something about having the light quickly fade in when I open the door that makes me slightly giddy. It works instantly and without fail. I plan on buying a few more of these for the rest of the house to complete the "I'm living in the future" feeling!

We have these all over the main floor in our home. Great customization options through the Phillips Hue app and they are very reliable and easy to use. No more light switches!

These handy little motion sensors are reliable, easy to install and even give you the temperature of the room they are in. I like to use them in closets because they give you instant light when the doors are opened.

The motion detector works as I had hoped. Great sensitivity, consistent functionality. One thing that is a bit annoying is that once it is tripped, the lights will turn off after the set interval, even if you alter them with the application. All-in-all I am happy with the purchase.

This has around a 100 degree horizontal angle, around a 60 degree vertical angle, and a range of about a 15 feet, meaning that anything within that scope that moves will trigger it. You’ll need the Hue app to set it up. You can choose sensor sensitivity (to decrement or increment motion sensitivity; i.e. how far it should detect movement to trigger), and how bright it should set the chosen light(s) depending on the time (you get two modes which are set depending on the time, one for the night and one for the day). The sensor comes with two mount options. One is basically a sticker like a 3M, or a screw for a wall or ceiling that allows it to rotate around a bit. Or you can also just set it on top of a shelf or other surface. It comes with an included battery and no physical connection is needed.

I love this thing. I have it in the kitchen because my light switch is in an inconvenient location but this solved all of my problems. My only issue is the price. I think it’s a bit overpriced but I’d still recommend it. Works flawlessly and has a magnet so you don’t have to drill into anything. Just stick it to the stud at the corner of any wall.

I have to say, everyone in the family is happy about this little, white “box”. Who knew I’d ever need one? Basically, you put it where you want it, do a little setup and that’s it. It detects movement and turns on your Phillips Hue bulbs automatically. We have an outlet, in a closet, that we have converted to a pantry off the kitchen. Plug in an overhead lamp, insert Phillips Hue bulb, mount the Phillips Hue Motion Sensor, and viola, let there be light. Now, when someone simply opens the pantry door, the light automatically comes on. It will stay on as long as we are in the pantry. We have it set to go off after 1 minute of inactivity. You can adjust this time using the Hue app. I highly recommend this product, maybe more than most other Phillips Hue accessories. It works great for what we use it for.

Purchased this to further help automate my home. This was purchased to install in a bathroom to eliminate a night light and help save electricity, plus me just being lazy. This was installed in my bathroom and configured to turn on full brightness during the day and nightlight mode in the evenings. There was a little bit of trouble trying to find the correct location initially when I installed the motion sensor. Picked up great when you walked into the bathroom but needed to be adjusted a few times to accommodate for shorter users in my shower. Wife was not happy when the lights turned off while she was taking a shower. :) Took about a week to make adjustments to position and sensitivity before it works great 99% of the time. One thing I did notice is when my network traffic is busy sometimes it will take it slightly longer than expected to turn on. Not a deal breaker however because as mentioned above it functions as desired most of the time. I would recommend it, just be patient while the adjustment process is happening as it may take a little bit to learn the device.
