Another cool HUE product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was waiting for outdoor motion sensors for a while and I have been using indoor sensors which work pretty well. So I decided to buy an outdoor sensor. Pretty sturdy, well made and does the job it supposes to do. I believe it covers bigger range compare to indoor sensors. I hope it comes as white version as well and bit cheaper in future.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This motion detector works as advertised. Picks up anyone entering my driveway and turns on my hue floodlights and my hue lights inside. Very flexible to set up various routines.it also greatly improves the video quality at night for my Nest Cam.

Useless
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn’t know there was no bulb included and I had to buy the hub separate. The item is useless unless I buy that.

Love It
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sensor is awesome. I have successfully caught three teenage girls attempting to enter the property to have relations with my teenage sons. Busted them cold, thank you Hue. This product has single handily prevented at least one teenage pregnancy. The sensor works very efficiently and is wonderful add on to the hue light bulbs. Together they light our entire courtyard and was very simple to set up. I look forward to adding more Hue products in the future. My kids future depends on them. I would definitely recommend this item if you love your kids and wish to prevent teenage pregnancy.

Expensive Sensor, but a good "arrive home" solutio
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is expensive for a stand-alone sensor, but solves the "arriving home" problem better than location tracking. If your outdoor lighting is already part of the Hue system, adding a motion sensor works better than trying to get to Hue app or Google Home app to identify when you arrive home fast enough to make a difference. If you are looking for a motion sensor flood lighting solution and are not already embedded in the Hue ecosystem, a solar powered flood light is more economical overall and less frustrating since the expectations are lower. I have set up one of these for both my front and back porch since those lights are part of the Hue system. They tend to turn on anytime a person walks or drives by, but unfortunately adjusting the sensitivity also affects the lights turning on properly when someone walks up to the front door. Thus, I ended up setting these up so they only turn on the outside lights to minimize how the affect, and the lights only stay on for a minute or two. Otherwise, the lights would probably remain on constantly until daylight. Installation is easy since it only takes a single screw to fasten the base to the house. Setup in the Hue app is relatively easy too, though adjusting the settings is not as reactive as promoted in the materials. I am not sure why, but adjusting this accessory takes a lot longer to save than the other accessories like the switch. Also, adjusting the daylight sensitivity does not work out of the box, as it seems to need a day or so to acclimate to the environment. (i.e., did not work well when first installed, but was adjustable the next day) Overall, it generally works well once set up properly, though if the Nest Cameras motion detection can eventually be tied to the Hue lighting; this will end up being unnecessary.

helps keep tabs on the backyard wildlife
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a couple of outdoor WiFi cameras, not for security reasons, but for entertainment, tracking the backyard wildlife. We live with backyard "neighbors" who wander through, as we live abutting a state forest and a river runs about 100 meters behind our house. So bears, opossums, turkeys, raccoons, bobcats, etc. are visitors. We share the footage with our grandchildren, who delight in the escapades. At night, the cameras have IR cameras, but having a porch light turn on, detected by motion, makes the video much clearer. After a set period of inactivity (adjustable in the Hue app; 5 minutes works well for us) the light turns off again. After perhaps 2 years, the factory alkaline AA batteries that power it were spent. Swapping out the batteries was a bit of a chore, and NOT readily obvious, but with looking up on YouTube, the method became clear. The waterproof seal that keeps the insides dry from weather grips pretty tight, and prying it loose was where YouTube gave suggestions. It installed easily, paired into our Hue bridge, and integrated into our lighting system rapidly and intuitively, like I have come to expect from all our Hue items: Hue light bulbs, light strips, switches, portable Go lamp, front walkway path lights, etc. With this history, we purchased this device again, this time to automatically turn on the front walkway lights, to guide the way for visitors or delivery men. That saves us from running the lights on a schedule every night, which was the prior method. Now we have the lights turn on when they sense a mammal passing within the beam (I saw mammal, since it senses the infrared heat of the body of the person, or the animal. I think a raccoon is big enough, but mice, voles, chipmunks, etc. do not get picked up.

Awesome, absolutely love it.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome addition to Philips Hue lights. I have this outdoor motion sensor set up to turn on the lights in the breezeway. When we get home and it’s dark can safely get in the house without having to worry about tripping on toys the kids left out. Also don’t have to worry about someone coming over in the dark and having to leave lights on all night. Very easy to set up in the app and very easy to install. An added bonus I didn’t realize it has a thermometer in it so can check the temperature outside.

Does the job just a little expensive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really like this sensor, it’s easy to install and joins my HomeKit setup easily. It offers motion, light & thermal information allowing lots of sensor led info. Only reason it gets 4stars is the price

This motion sensor is great!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For outdoor purposes, I much prefer passive infrared sensors to video-based motion detection. This is a *great* PIR sensor. It's very sensitive, and includes light level and temperature sensors. It runs off AAA batteries so there's no great expense incurred when the batteries die, unlike, say, a SmartThings motion detector. Hue integrates perfectly with Homekit, and so I've got outdoor PIR sensors able to trigger both hue and lutron lights without requiring an internet connection! I really like these motion detectors.

Great Outdoor Motion Sensor for HomeKit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This motion sensor didnt seem worth the price, but the quality and speed to notify makes it a good investment to add to your home automation network. I use it with homekit and its a great asset for motion detection and using it as a trigger. It also has a built in thermometer for outdoor temperature which is nice when you want a more accurate idea of the temperature outside.

Another amazing Hue product!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hue motion sensors are awesome and easy to setup. I already had two indoor ones for my hallways. When this came out I quickly jumped on one for my garage. I couldn't be more impressed. It picks up movement of almost the entire two car garage in complete darkness. With this device I don't need to worry how cold or hot it gets. It just works.

Great companion to Philips Hue lights
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is our second Philips Hue outdoor sensor. We now have the front and back of the house covered. They are very easy to set up. Love that we can have indoor as well as outdoor lights go on when there is motion. Also so much flexibility in the duration, color, brightness etc. Great addition to the Hue light system that we already had.

Works as it should for over a year
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two and they have been rock solid outside. I wish the Hue app was a little bit more advanced in adjusting motion sensor times to sunrise/sunset with changes during the year and daylight savings, but really no complaints on the actual sensor. The mounting with it has been good, and I haven't had to change the batteries. I've had them for over a year with no issues. They connected easily to the Hue bridge and the range is solid for me.

Love this for my front porch
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this controlling my front porch lights. They are set for dust to dawn and I have them set to match the season (red/green Christmas, pink/purple Valentine’s Day, orange Halloween) but the motion detector turns them to bright white for a few minutes before they return to their programed setting. Very handy for coming home and security.

Great Product!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this product for over a month and it has met or exceeded my expectations. It allows for up to 3 defined "rooms" to be activated once motion has been detected. I have set this up at the corner of my house where it meets my driveway. When it is triggered, my Hue floodlights turn on along with my Hue exterior wall lights on the outside. On the inside, my foyer light is triggered so I am notified that there is motion outside. There are controls on the Hue app that let you define sensitivity and control daylight and nighttime operations. Overall, this is a very useful product.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is great. It works great. You can turn off and on using Hue app. Easily mounts to any wall. You can also set it to turn on more than one area. I use to turn on out side lights and my bedroom lights. To alert me someone is at back door. I will buy more of them.

Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor - Great for Alexa too!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Minneapolis MN For those with Hue systems. I've had this for +6 months and I'm extremely pleased. It's in the front of the house and will pick up anyone walking or coming up our driveway. It's incredibly reliable, very sensitive and few false triggers. To reduce the sensitivity, I have it set to low and I've covered the top 1/8 inch of the clear sensor with black electrical tape to keep it from reaching the street in front of our house. The native Hue app allows for a daytime routine and nighttime routines. The routines allows 3 Hue groups or zones to be turned on with motion so that BOTH the inside and outside of the house will light up bright near the entries creating the impression of indoor activity (I enable lights between 11PM and 7AM). In addition, with Alexa integration I have a daytime routine and nighttime routines to quickly announce visitors. No surprises when company arrives or there is activity in the middle of the night.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With all that's going on, we needed a motion sensor with the lights outside. Great motion detection
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to control my entry lights and it works great. Using the HomeKit automation I am able to turn on the switch that controls the lights and have them turn off after a set time period. Works great outdoors. Wish it was a bit smaller and easier to make blend in.
