Customers value the Hue Play Starter Kit's brightness, ease of use, and ability to create ambiance. Many appreciate the straightforward setup and compatibility with other Hue products, although some find the app could be improved. A common concern is the relatively high price point. While some users mention the size of the lights, the overall feedback highlights the positive impact on lighting and entertainment experiences.

Very pleased with this product. Yes it is a little on the pricey side but it really gets the job done. Lives up to my expectations and provides an excellent amount of ambient lighting around my TV. Very easy to set up and control using the mobile app or voice command. Provides a whole new atmosphere in my bedroom and looks amazing.

! I wish they weren't so expensive, because I would buy so many more. I'm waiting for them to go on sale and then I'll be buying at least another 2 sets of 3 for other spots around the house. You can sync them with your monitor so they react to the colors on the screen and match them in behind the monitor and change as the colors change on the monitor. Incredible!

Pricey, as are all Hue lights, but very effective for what they are. I have them behind a tv, and when connected through a computer using the Hue Play app, and they work seamlessly with other hue lights in an entertainment configuration. The build qualify it plasticky and a bit cheaper than many of the other lights, but they're sturdy and have survived a couple drops, so that might not be a bad thing.

Excellent quality. Real magic is the app. Nothing out there has a better app engine that drives these lights which does explain the premium price but I wish they were a little more affordable. Do all your lights need to be Hue lights? That’s up to you but they are addicting. I’ll never go back. Hook it up to the Hue Sync Box and mind blown!

My wife was angry with me when I bought this, but after hooking it up and making sure that none of the equipment or wires were visible, she is slightly less angry with me. This replaces some string led lights that I had that never really worked as I had hoped. We both enjoy the enhanced lighting around the TV.
The Alexa voice control with our Fire TV is also helpful when I don't feel like pulling out my phone to use the app.

The kit itself is inexpensive and simple to set up with what is included. You can connect three to one of the power sources inside of it, so it's expandable for the PC/TV feature.
I actually ended up buying two of these packs and three on the TV does look nicer than one. The color changing feature for TV/movies/games and the like requires an additional 220usd accessory which is kinda absurd. It will work on PCs without it though and I was able to stream my PC to the TV to round-about use it. Frankly it's just kinda annoying and distracts you from the movie. I think you'll be fine without streaming to your TV/ buying a HTPC/ getting the accessory. On more interesting thing about the accessory it acts like a receiver of sorts and will require all hdmis into it for the light source info. So if you have a receiver or a unique setup that may not even work -- on top of which, it will disable high end audio that is not compatible for the pass through.
It's just meh. I removed the third light and now have two, two-light setups at my living room and computer desk. They are neat, but far from great.
It's sadly color changing Lyft driver bar.

We love these bulbs and use them daily! Smart lighting is amazing. From things like a slow fade in to wake you up in the mornings, to turning off and on when you leave or return home using geofencing. There are so many more features to list but they all work great and setup couldn’t be more simple!

I used to use the LED strip version of HUE, but recently switched to this one so that I could use the LED strip on top of the blinds. This one is better for use behind the TV as it allows 2 color tones (if that's how you like it). Otherwise, even at single color, it's just as good, hence a perfect substitute.

Work very well. Changes color with the app. Colors are static and only changes when you change it. Has preprogrammed scenes where the colors are already picked. The only negative is the sync box needed for full HDMI functionality is expensive. There are apps on the Play store such as Hue dynamic and Hue stream that give you some of those functions. I like it very much overall.

Due to having to use a PC (not going to buy their expensive box yet) I haven't used them much, if at all. I just hooked them up and thought yep, they are cool then shut it all down and used the smart tv functionality. Yeah, this review sort of blows but all in all they were easy to hook up and make nice light.

I have over 50 Hue light products and these are among the coolest. These are best used projecting light onto a wall. They are diffused and create a halo of light in whatever color your heart desires. I have them on top of a high shelf in a room with vaulted ceilings. They create an amazing ambiance for whatever occasion I need. I have gotten so many compliments. Hue is definitely tops of the smart light sector. The app is straightforward and easy to use. They are reliable and can achieve almost any color (struggle most with red). Each "bridge" can control up to 50 lights. But I've found in a 3,000 sq. ft. home that is a stretch. I'd say you would need 1 bridge for every 40 bulbs (or devices). And once you go beyond one bridge it gets tricky. I have faith that Philips will figure something out for this but right now it is a pain controlling multiple bridges. Google and Alexa only recognize devices on the active bridge and you have to manually change which bridge is active. All that being said, this is an impressive starter set. You can't go wrong.

This was a gift for my son’s to use with their bedroom tvs and computer/gaming systems. They love how it adds a fun variation to their other hue lights. It was easy to set up and I got a great deal on the 2 sets. I’m happy with them. I’d buy again at the sale price but for myself I wouldn’t at full price. Teen boys thought it was a great gift!

The Hue Play sticks are a nice accent to a TV or PC setup. I don't have the Sync box currently but look forward to adding a more dynamic effect later when the box is more reasonable in price.
As standalone sticks I could see a living room setup being a little space without other hue lights but as a PC kit it is just the right size with a respectable response and color effect.

Got these around Christmas at a good price so thought I’d try them out. Really easy to setup & install. My ecosystem is Home Kit so these add easy and can be set with scenes and Siri Shortcuts. Really like how easy it is to change colors for seasons, holidays, mood. Adds a nice & professional touch in out theater room.
I’m now looking at other indoor/outdoor Hue products.

For basic use, it's great but once you want to synch to movies, it gets a little rough. You need the separate synch box which costs too much for what it does with too much drawbacks which you can see in reviews for the synch box. The app works ok but won't synch with any DRM protected signals.

Its a great smart light. Works great and love seamless it is. You can control via app and sync the lights to your screen to create a cool experience while playing games or video. One negative though is how overpriced the Hue line of products are. I got on sale, but it’s not really worth the full price unless you really want this product.
