The Tap switch is built around an odd system where three smaller buttons are connected with a single large button. The end result is that hitting one of the smaller buttons (labeled 2, 3, or 4) has a reasonable probability of having the switch register that as a press on the large button (labeled 1).
I bought two of these switches, and I noticed that one switch has this issue a lot more than the other (both have different "DC" model numbers on the back).
Also to note is that the switch still requires a network connection to work, so you cannot use it on a Hue Go away from your home network after registering functions, for example.

I purchased this switch to control the 3 Hue lights that are in our nursery. Rather than fumbling with the phone during middle of the night feedings and diaper changes, I figured this switch will get the job done easily - and it sure did! The button has four buttons which can be assigned a light scene individually. I programmed the large button as the "OFF" switch, followed by three level of brightness on the rest of the three available buttons (night light, dimmed and bright). Even though the Hue lights in the nursery are controlled by this tap switch, it does not hinder controlling them through the phone app. Highly recommended if you want to control light scenes with the tap of a switch! It does not use any battery.

SImple to set up - toughest part is deciding what to control. It's more than just a tap - a firm push to get the unit to do its thing. You select the button that's programmed to control the event, then the whole unit needs to be pushed down to activate the switch. A very clever, BATTERY FREE device. Makes life good.

I purchased this for my daughter for her night stand. It allows her to simply tap to turn off the lights or tap one of the three buttons to turn the lights back on. Each button can be programmed for a particular scene.

The easy-to-use Philips Hue Tap brings practical convenience to existing smart lighting setups. Its wireless, kinetic-powered design needs no battery or electricity, which is beyond cool.

This switch is awesome... simple to setup and can be installed in in a couple of ways (flat surface or on the wall). This is a great way to add physical controls to your Hue lights. My wife is technically challenged and and isn't into using the Hue app... this little device gives here the ability to turn our accent lighting on/off with out bugging me or having to mess with the app... Perfect for introducing some physical control to your setup!!!

Overall connection to the hub and setup of the buttons was easy. It is way simpler to just hit a button on the Tap than unlock my phone, open the Hue application and select a light so the convenience factor is huge. It does have problems not responding sometimes. I find that if I press a button every day it works fine but if I go for a period of not pressing a button, it stops responding. Maybe something to do with the way it powers itself. Still a good trade off for not having to plug it in or use batteries.

Depending on which app you use to control it, it can get a little messed up when applying multiple button presses to activate different scenes. Otherwise a great idea for a light switch replacement and I'm still blown away that it doesn't use batteries.

Does the job, easy and simple to set up! For those moments in which you do not have time to open the app on your phone you can simply push a button like a traditional light switch and change which type of light scene you want. Highly recommend.

You need to have this switch if you have the Philips HUE system, its the only way to control the lights with out a phone or internet access.
Could use more prgramming features from Philips.

I want to love this thing and it is really cool, but every once in a while it just drops the connection to the hub and you have to go through the tedious process of reconnecting it. Also, the functionality out of the box is not worth anywhere near $60. To get the most out of it, you really need to download something like HueTaps for Android, which will allow you to cycle through multiple scenes with a single button, increasing the usefulness exponentially.
Still, unless you can afford to go with something like one of the newer Harmony remotes that support the Hues, this really beats needing to get to a smartphone or ipad every time you want to turn your lights on.

When I bought hue lights I thought it was pretty awesome to be able to turn on and off and change the colors of my lights with the app. However, sometimes (most times) I didn't want to dig out my phone and start up the app. The app isn't terrible, it's just not quick enough to quick turn on a light and walk into a room. The tap fixes this and gives you some options for other colors. I gave this product a 4 mainly because of the "kinetic power" switch. It's really cool that it doesn't need batteries, but if you don't use the lights everyday, you're going to find yourself pressing the buttons multiple times. I also do really like that you can take the switch anywhere with you.

This is a great Gadget to have if you own any Philips Hue Lights! The only thing I don't like about it is you have to press it a little hard at times to get it to turn the lights on/off or whatever you have it programmed to, but other than that it's great! There's no batteries, it's easy to hook up, it's easy to program, and it's easy to use! I would definitely recommend this over the other switch they have and it's only a few dollars extra!

It's nice to have a few color S hemes that I use frequently without having to talk to Google. It doesn't work for color schemes with music, but it does a few simple routines like dining the lights, powering up to 100%, movie lights etc.. If it was more affordable I would have one in every room. But it is a little pricey for what it actually does.

I love the Hue personally.
You will be wanting these for that familiar light switch feel that your phone just is too weird for always pulling out at say...2 AM...
GENERAL BULB REVIEW:
OK, yes they are expensive...But, they are awesome. If you buy only a couple at a time and wait for sales at Best buy (they DO have them from time to time) You can eventually have the whole house set up.
Speaking of set-up, it is relatively easy for even a novice. I do have suspicions however, that they take up a bit of the bandwidth if that is an issue for you. They work best if your home is primarily light colored walls, as you can completely have a new look whenever you want to by uploading any picture or color scheme that suits your mood and...Bam, new paint!

Get the dimmer switches for half the price. I bought two of the taps and while the kinetic energy power thing is neat I found the tap to be sketchy to work with. Unless you stick it down with something it will turn and you end up hitting the wrong buttons (not to mention having to remember which button does which lights). As I said before get the $25 dimmer switches. They work better at least for me. You lose one option for the same money but get dimming that you don't get from the tap switch

The Hue Lights are great but having a 4 pre-set click button to use in each room makes it faster than the app. (The app is great with all the choices but sometimes you need some quick light recipes fast!)
