Have one in every room. Can program up to 4 different scenes or 3 and an off option. Love them!

I currently have five of these in my home. One is on the night stand, and I currently have it for evening, sleep, morning and daytime routines. The others have a variety of functions assigned to each button, and I change them somewhat regularly to fine tune how each reacts. In the Hue app there are many routines that can be found in the "Hue Labs" section. Those routines add different kinds of functionality to the Tap Switch beyond the standard on/off.
A point of clarification about how these are powered: each tap of the switch recharges the on-board battery. The battery isn't (as far as I know) replaceable, and the unit does not have to be charged via a separate power source.

Good bulbs, so-so app

The bulbs have been pretty solid so far - my roomie & I use geofencing to turn them on/off as we come & go. I have mine set to fade up to a sunrise-ish glow shortly after I get up. The Philips app is okay for that sort of thing, but to get stuff like color fading/animation or a little more granular control, you'll have to download a 3rd-party app - but there are plenty on both Apple & Android sides.

The switch needs no batteries or power. It generates the power by you pressing the buttons. Yes, this manner of sorcery is real. But you do notice that it takes a little effort to shove the buttons. If you are a big cromagnon kind of guy you probably shove buttons all the time so wont notice this.
If you don't already have 'scenes' defined for your lights you'll need to do that first - even if a scene is to just turn the lights on to 100%.
Its very easy to program using the phone app, and you can reprogram the scene at any time.
Easy to use, sticks on the wall, and can be popped off as a remote, but you don't need that if you have an Amazon Echo and can just ask Alexa to turn on the lights...

This remote is fully programmable and yet somehow connects to the hue system...WITHOUT ANY BATTERIES. it is powered solely by using it. Anyway, there are 4 buttons that can be customized in the hue system

Set up was pretty easy. A couple small complaints I had were: it would be nice if you set one of the buttons to turn a light on, you could press it again to turn it off. You have to use another button to program it to turn off, kind of lame. The other one is I have a bulb and the cabinet lights set into "Kitchen". When setting up the switch, I selected "kitchen" but it doesn't give me the option to pick a specific light to program, it just sets whatever setting I choose for all the lights. I had to take the cabinet lights out from my "kitchen" setting and give it a separate "room" before programming on the tap switch. Other than that, so far its been really great!

I love that you don't have to put batteries in this switch. It's easy to program and use. Wish you could use it with more than just one light though.

I like the HUE Tap except for the fact it is very difficult to push just one of the buttons if you have large hands/fingers. I still would recomemed it to anyone that does not want to share the app with others. I use it to turn off all lights when leaving and to quickly turn on lights when i get home.

At first I didn't think I'd need these to control my Philips Hue system, but I'm so glad I have them for those times when I don't have my iPhone or iPad with me. We have one for the bedroom and one on the wall of our living room, both set with our most commonly used lighting settings.

A Must Have for any Hue Set-up

I absolutely love the hue system! all the ways you can customize the system is mind blowing. the only real hard thing about the system is getting used to the idea that you don't use your light switches and only use your phone... this can get annoying. even tho its really cool to be able to pull out your phone and impress friends with your crazy lights, doing this for every day use isn't very intuitive. generally you will settle on a few basic themes that you will use in your every day life. the Hue tap solves all the problems of using your system on an every day use, and best of all IT WILL NEVER NEED BATTERIES! the tap is an absolute must have for any Hue lighting set up, its amazing they don't include it in the initial set up box set.
