Setup:
If you don’t have a Hue bridge already, you will need one to use the lamp. The Hue bridge is easy to set up. All you need is a wired network connection on your home modem or router. I set mine up on a wired port on a child node on my wireless network and it worked fine. After the bridge is connected and turned on, you need to install the Hue app on your mobile phone or use the Hue web site to connect to the bridge. My bridge needed a software update at setup. The app said the update was complete, but pressing “Done” after the update was “successful” did nothing. I had to perform the update again (or perform a second update) before the bridge would work.
Once bridge is updated and online, the app will guide you through connecting all of the Hue lights within range. Individual lights can be assigned to rooms.
Control:
Lights can be controlled individually or as a group within each room. The app will work locally over your wireless network or remotely over your phones cellular service if you establish an account at the my.meethue.com. The web interface to your my.meethue.com account will allow you to enable/disable your bridge and mobile app, but it will not allow you to control your lights. This must be done through the app.
There are three types of lights available for your Hue system. The basic “white” light can be dimmed, but will not vary in color, remaining fixed at 2700K. There are two types of “ambiance” bulbs. The “white ambiance” bulb can be varied from warm (2200K) to cool (6500K). With the “color ambiance” bulbs you can use any one of 16 million colors. You could get “funkadelic” with a few of these bulbs in one room. The app allows you to control the brightness and color (“ambiance” bulbs only) of each Hue bulb in your lighting network.
The app can be controlled by touch or voice commands. If you choose to share location information with the app (and have an active my.meethue.com account), you can control the behavior of your lights as you leave and return home. This might freak out those who are still in the house, but it’s possible. You can also set schedules for each bulb (or room) that vary by day of the week. You can even specify the “width” of a random window for the beginning and end of each cycle. The automation system is well thought out and implemented and great when you plan to be away from home for a few days.
Lamp:
The Wellner table lamp looks something like a stemless mushroom made of white glass. It has a few very modest bits of silicone around the base. I suggest supplementing these with something more substantial that will allow air under the base, particularly if you plan to place it directly on a wood surface. The glass globe is rather thin. The advantage is that it is not very heavy. The down side is that feels rather fragile. I recommend placing it on a stable surface where it is unlikely be get bumped.

So what is this?
The Philips Hue is an app based system that allows you to turn the lights on and off (dim and change colors depending on the lamp) with an app or if available, with a Voice Assistant (Google, Echo, etc).
For the intents and purpose of this review, this hue lamp CANNOT be used without the Philips Hue Bridge so you have to make sure to get one to seamlessly integrate the light and the bridge is NOT included with this lamp.
When you get your Hue Bridge, you hook it up to your router and then through the app, you search for your light. That takes probably 2-3 mins max.
I like the app because with this light, it allows me to dim from 0-100% with a slider bar, and the app also has pre-programmed schedules or you can set your own schedule. This is convenient if you will be out of the house and you want the lights to go on and off while you are away or for example if you want the lights to automatically go on at a certain time in the morning and off at night.
The lamp itself is really light and has a warm ambiance to it.
Having it hooked to Google Home, I am able to turn it on and off with my voice based on either room, or light name.
Don't expect instructions inside the box, rather look on the side of the box where it simply says "download the app" and follow instructions. It was very easy from there but it threw me off at first. The manual just shows how to assemble the light, but make sure to get the light bulb serial number before assembling the light cover because you might need it for initial setup.
The lamp brightness is good and I really like the ability to dim to whatever level you want. After dimming it, the light will stay at that dim level when turning on and off unless you change it. I have mine in the baby room so I keep it very dim (25%) and that allows baby to keep calm and not wake up if I need to check in.
I think this lamp is a great product so I gave it 4 stars. I didn't give it 5 because it requires a bridge which is sold separate, and also because the bridge requires to be wired to my router. I'd think by now, they could at least have a wireless bridge.
I do recommend it though.

This is my review of the Philips - Hue White Ambiance Wellness Dimmable LED Smart Table Lamp - Black, and the overall Hue Lighting System. I can’t discuss just the light without going into my experience related to the lighting system as well.
Before I get into the lamp and lighting system, you need to know that to use these lamps or any of the Hue devices, you need to have the Hue Bridge. The Hue Bridge is the hub that connects to the local network. The Hue devices then connect to the hub (the Hue Bridge). The Bridge can connect up to 50 different devices. The Hue Bridge is sold separately and runs from $50.00 to $60.00 by itself, but overall, I think you get a better deal if you purchase a starter kit. However, know that even if you own Amazon Alexa or Google Home, you still need the Hue Bridge.
I received 4 of the Ambient Wellness table lamps in one bigger box. Each lamp was in its own box consisting of a base, a glass globe, and an ambient Hue bulb. Each lamp was very well packed, and secure.
The Wellness Table Lamp is a small globe lamp that is about 6 or 7 inches wide and about 6 or 7 inches high. The base on each of these lamps is black and made of solid wood that has enough weight to easily support it. There is a groove cut out on the bottom of the base for the power cord to pass through which prevents the lamp from rocking. It is actually a very attractive design and will fit into just about any decor.
I took the first lamp out of its box, screwed in the bulb, and read the directions that come with each lamp. I expected it would take me about 10 or 15 minutes to get the Hue Bridge set up and another 10 minutes to get the first lamp to function. The directions tell you to plug the light in and then go to the Hue website to get the installation instructions.
I am not a technical genius, but I do know how to follow directions and I consider myself to be competent when it comes to setting up electronic gadgets, computers, WIFI, Bluetooth, etc. Well, I spent hours trying to get that light to connect to the Hue Bridge. I was frustrated with the whole experience. I could not determine what I was doing wrong. The Hue Bridge was connected to my WIFI, and I registered it with Phillips. I certainly did not expect to have any trouble getting these lights set up. I knew I would eventually get it. I decided to let it go that day. I gave it some thought off and on in the next few days and finally decided to see if I could get the 2 bulbs to work that came with the Bridge Starter Kit. If I could get them to respond I would feel good about something anyway. I screwed one of these bulbs into my desk lamp, opened the Hue App and named this light “desk lamp.” I then instructed the App to find a new device. The Bridge found it! I finally had control of a light. From there I named each lamp depending on which room I placed it in. I then connected each lamp one at a time to the Hue Bridge. Then I named each room where I wanted to place a lamp. I named one “bedroom.” The Hue App would then list each device and I would check which light I was placing in that room, like “ambient light #4.” I then opened the Alexa App and went to “Smart Home.” I tapped “bedroom,“ and “Ambient Light #4” showed up with the option to choose the ambient color and how bright to make the light. I could then tell Alexa to do each task from that point on. I went through this process with each lamp and room.
I think part of my problem was that my iPhone wanted to use the “Apple Home Kit” App after I had installed the Hue App. I have the Amazon Echo (Gen.2), and an Echo Dot. The Alexa App also got involved in the process when I was trying to set up the first light. This all came about because there was nothing explaining how the Hue App integrates with the other Apps. If I had only started with the Bridge Starter Kit], got the 2 lights that came with it to work, then the Ambient lamps would have been simply a matter of naming the room each was in, naming the lamp itself, and connecting each one individually.
What I found out somewhere in the whole process was that the devices connect off of each other sort of like “piggy back.” If a device is too far from the Hub to connect it will connect to the nearest device. That is what happened when I got the bulbs from the Starter Kit to connect. The rest of them then followed suit. I also disabled the “Home Kit” App in IOS, ignored the “Alexa App,” and only used the Hue App to set up the room structure and each individual light. Then the Alexa App knew the names of the rooms and the names of each light. I would Imagine that it would work the same way with Google Home and Apple Home Kit, but I was not going to experiment at this point.
So, in closing, the Hue Wellness Ambient Lamps are great. There are 6 different settings of warmth those bulbs can be set to for “color,” from cool daylight to warm white, and each color setting can be dimmed from 0% to 100%. It is so nice to be able to tell Alexa to “turn basement lights off,” or “turn dining room light to 50%.” I fully recommend the lamps and the Hue lights.
I will only give 4 stars to the Philips - Hue White Ambiance Wellness Dimmable LED Smart Table Lamp - Black because of how ambiguous the instructions are. I looked at other reviews when I was trying the original setup hoping to gain insight and saw that many others were also frustrated too.
Then again, maybe it was just me and the fact that I am now 64 years old that I had challenges.

This is a very nicely built little table lamp with a sturdy metal base and heavy glass shade. The smart LED bulb that comes with it is a white dimmable model (that the Phillips market department somehow has decided enhances "wellness") that is roughly the same brightness as a 60 watt bulb.
If that's what you need and price is absolutely no object, perhaps this is the lamp for you. Otherwise, maybe not. Because the $100 price tag on this thing is just the beginning.
It really doesn't do anything (and I mean anything) unless you also already have or invest in a Hue hub ($60) which is required to control the lamp. It lacks even a basic on/off switch. So you are talking some pretty serious money just to get this small table lamp up and running.
But lets assume you don't care about cost. If that's the case, this thing does everything Phillips claims. Once you download the Phillips Hue app and get the lamp set up, it can do all the smart stuff any smart bulb should do. You can turn it on and off with the app (or, much easier, with Amazon Echo or Dot once you set that up). You can set up customized timers to have the lights go on and off at certain times or even sunrise and sunset, with fade ins and fade outs of the period you prefer. Or tie it in with motion detectors. (those cost extra of course).
For what it's worth, the bulb that comes with the lamp is an upgraded "white ambiance" bulb instead of just a plain old dimmable smart bulb. That means the light can be warm or cool, depending on your needs. Regular bulbs are mostly just warm, like incandescents. I assume this is what makes it a "wellness" bulb.
The best thing about the lamp is that it works with Amazon's Echo, because simply speaking a command to turn a lamp on or off it lot easier than digging out your smartphone, launching the app and finding the appropriate on off switch.
Be aware that if you opt for Amazon's s Echo Plus, which has a built in hub that in theory replaces the pricey Philips hub, there is a price to pay. Some functionality is lost since Phillips wants to make sure you DO buy one of their pricey hubs. You can do more with the light this way, in terms of customization, than with the Echo Plus hub. And if you have already set up you light using a Philips Hub, there's a somewhat complicated process for resetting the bulbs so they are controlled directly by the Echo Plus instead of the Phillips Hub.
The lamp also works with Hue's color bulbs (but of course those can cost $50 to $100 each) if color is important to you.
The lamps works well but there are a few cons, besides the price. I found the required app somewhat flaky sometimes, losing track of what it was supposed to do. Timers that worked for a time suddenly stopped working for no reason, I had to delete them, put in new ones to fix the problem. This seemed to be associated with upgrades to the app.
Also, be aware that in the event of power failures, the lights lose track of what they are supposed to be doing. So when the power comes back on, they immediately turn on to full brightness. A rude awakening if it happens in the middle of the night. Worse, you have to unplug them to turn them off since it takes a while for the hub to come back up if your wi fi router goes down at the same time.
My only big concern with the table lamp is that it is a pretty tightly sealed unit once the shade is attached. The instructions that come with the bulb say never to place the bub in an enclosed space. But since Phillips sells the lamp and bulb as a package, I guess it's OK.
In the end, this lamp does what it is designed to do. But I could not give it top marks because of the high price and somewhat flaky app that controls it.

This is a mixed review -
While this is a Hue product, it does everything that the rest of the Hue line does. Links to the bridge, remote dim and brighten, and will connect to the Phillip's products such as motion detectors to automate. It comes with a standard white Hue bulb, so don't expect colors right from the box (but you can switch it out)
What you see is really what you get - a lampshade with a bulb and a cord. No stand, no mount, and very limited ability do do anything but to set it onto a table
I set this up on my workbench in the garage along with a Hue motion detector. It does what it is supposed to, but just looks incomplete. The light comes on when I enter the room, and I set it to turn off after 5 minutes of no motion
If this is what you want, then perfect, otherwise just 3 stars

The Philips Hue White Ambiance Wellner LED White Table Lamp brings satisfyingly soft illumination to your favorite nook and cranny. It simulates natural light to help you relax and feel energized in the morning (or whenever you wake up), and it's bright enough in the red spectrum to read by at bedtime. The Hue table lamp connects to the Hue bridge for remote control. I went to the Michigan Avenue Best Buy in Chicago for assistance in putting together an iPhone and Android controlled Hue lighting system. They provided me with the information to set up the environment in a seamless and easy to install way (and saved me money!). I love the style/design.
I wish I had this all my life!

This Philips light is the first of several hue items I chose to install. After installing the bridge (which is needed to control the light remotely), I added the light to the system. It was surprisingly easy to add and configure through the app on my phone.
The light allows me to set a waking schedule that matches my wake times each day and eases the waking process. It works well. I also like that I can control the quality of the light to match the situations - reading, relaxing, dim or bright, warm or cool, etc.
The only negative I have is that it is large and takes up most of the table top. The bottom edge of the glass is unprotected (un buffered) and will scratch the top of a table if it is not picked up to move it. Also, it would be nice to control it at the fixture in addition to through the app. There is no physical on/off switch.

This is a strange looking yet beautiful lamp. Setup was easy with the Hue app (you do need an existing Hue bridge or an Amazon Echo Plus with a built in hub).
I initially thought this was a lamp similar to the Bloom, where the bulb is built in. But, this is a glass lamp with a socket so you can change out the bulb if you want. It comes with a white Hue bulb, which I switched for a multi-color bulb.
This works well with scenes and routines (in the Hue app or can set up in the Alexa app). It looks really nice and does make a statement.
I’d easily recommend this for the interesting design and Alexa integration.

I’m really impressed with the overall quality of this lamp. It’s easy to setup. Simply take the hand blown glass base, remove the bulb from the box, and screw in. Then pair it with your Philips Hub (I used and Amazon Echo Plus) and start using it.
I couldn’t be happier. I have a side accent table that this sits perfectly on. The design allows the light to hit every angle. I’ve had several compliments from visiting friends and family. The ability to dim the light at night is also a plus in movie nights! My kids even love using Alexa to turn the light on when they go downstairs.
Super impressed, and highly recommend. Just make sure you have the table space to place it.

This smart lamp throws off more light than I expected, but it is dimmable. The lamp is voice controlled and does not have an on/off switch. You can have it as bright as you like or as dim as you like. It is a frosted glass globe, not plastic and is a more subdued light source adding to the ambience. Because of the design of the lamp, it looks just perfect on my nighttstand. I like the clean white globe design and it would go with most any decor.

So cutting to the chase here, this is a wildly expensive lamp. While its built really well i just dont see the value. It comes with the white bulb, frosted glass shade and the base. Its all very easy to disassemble which you will do if you want to use the colored hue lights as like mentioned above it only comes with the big standard white bulb which is disappointing in a lamp at $100.
The app works well and you can set different moods, they really do work but my main gripe with this lamp is it literally can only be controlled through the Hue system or the app. Now thats not an issue when you want the thing on and once its on it is fine but you have no on or off button, you literally have to pull the cable or use the app to turn the thing on or off. That may sound trivial but when getting up for work at 6am its a pain because i have no light until i get up, walk in the dark and grab my phone off the shelf. I'm not sure as to why they felt the need to remove the power button on a $100 lamp.
So its a nice lamp with great mood features but i wouldn't recommend it unless you are already heavily invested in the Hue system

My Philips Hue Ambiance Wellner Lamp arrived and I was very excited to add it to my Philips Hue collection.
Packing is nicely done. When opening, I kept looking for more. It's just the glass lamp and a light bulb that you screw in. I thought, surely there is a base that the glass attaches to, but nope! I don't think it detracts from the attractiveness, but I would've appreciated a brushed nickle or some type of accent stand--especially for the price.
Setup is a breeze. Basically screw in the bulb, plug it in, and connect to the Hue Bridge.
While this lamp doesn't come with a full color bulb, it is 100% interchangeable in case you want a little flare with your lamp. The white ambiance bulb is impressive. The light mimics natural light so it can go from warm white tones to cool white. I'm always one for warm white which is very relaxing whether reading, watching TV, or getting ready for bed.
In all, I love the addition to my bedroom and I think it'd make a great addition to any space where you'd like additional light. It's plenty bright enough to light up the room without feeling harsh and can be soft enough to create a relaxing and warm environment. My only suggestion would be to add a small base to it.

First thing to know about this lamp is you will need to already have or purchase a Philips Hue Bridge that will act as the smart interface.
This lamp is controllable via Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Nest and Wink via the Zigbee certification among others so smart home integration is easy and of course works with the Hue App.
The frosted glass is top notch quality and diffuses the light perfectly throughout your living space.
With a range of warm white to cool daylight you can taylor the lamp for whatever you are doing, reading, relaxing etc
A great addition or start to smart home lighting.

When I received this, I did not realize that it required a HUB/Bridge to operate it. Once I realized that it came with a standard white bulb without the color options, I opted to purchase a Dimmer instead, and I am glad I did, as the dimmer is lower cost than the HUB/Bridge and has more functionality since you can attach it almost anywhere and use the dimmer itself in remote form or attached to the base frame in the convenient location of your choice.
The lamp works as expected, as it goes through a very wide range of dimming levels. The circular shade allows for great lighting in all directions, and the low profile allows the light to have a better spread. Since I went with the wireless dimmer option as opposed to the HUb/Bridge option, I cannot speak to use of the HUE App, but the dimmer with remote more than meets my needs, and I find it much more convenient to use than accessing my phone and an app just to turn my lights on (I might feel differently if I had a broader HUE lighting system than just the one lamp in my home).
I've been so please with this device that I may expand my Hue home lighting network after my upcoming move. I would definitely recommend this to everyone I know, as this is so convenient, especially with the remote dimmer. Definitely a 5 star device!

I have had some of the LIFX products but this was my first experience with the Phillips Hue brand of lighting products and honestly I'm pretty impressed. Once I received the lamp it was easy to setup and I had already preinstalled the app on my iPhone and iPad. After a quick setup of the lamp itself and then some configuration in the app I was ready to go. Note that the lamp doesn't seem to have an actual on/off switch which is why I deducted a star. If my wife or a family member of friend wants to turn on the light I seriously doubt they will have the app and the knowledge on how to do that so in this case I think it was somewhat of an oversight not to include this.
However, once you get over that shortsighted issue I think the actual use of the lamp is really nice and yes it does provide some serious ambient lighting. It's also very bright if you want it to be. In the past I've had colored lighting so I thought I'd be somewhat disappointed with only using the shades of white but it's pretty impressive all the different shades that this thing can put off without being actually coloured. I don't think I ever really realized just how many shades and hues of white there are until I used this.
Anyways, bottom line is my wife and I love this lamp. I think it has found a permanent place beside our bed and we both love waking up to it coming up and lighting up our room slowly and with a warm hue. It's also quiet handy to be able to brighten up the room if you're doing something like say assembling something and you really need to see what the heck you are doing.
All in all I'd highly recommend this lamp, it really is a really nice addition to a lamp collectors repertoire and it works especially well in the bedroom for a wake up light.

This lamp is awesome. It comes with a base, lamp globe, and dimmable light bulb. The globe has a snug fit onto the base, so it should help keep bugs from getting inside. You will need the Phillips Hue Bridge in order for the lamp to work with your home setup. The lamp sets up easily with the Phillips Hue Bridge. I was able to adjust the light bulb using the app, Alexa, and Google Home. The light bulb can only display various shades of whites, no traditional colors. I'm really enjoying this lamp.

This is a great smart lamp for the bedroom. The like all of the various lighting modes that can be set. I am no stranger to smart lighting, since I have several different smart bulbs, switches and outlets already setup in my home. This is my first Philips Hue product and I have no complaints. It was easy to setup and use. I also connected it to my Alexa account without any problems. I think I am going to get another.
