These bulbs are fantastic. First of all they are very high quality, not cheap construction. They are LED and inside the bulb is WiFi circuitry. As is normal with devices that are distributed in your network, you do need to purchase a special HUB to communicate to the devices. At first this might seem unnecessary for example if you have other smart HUBs, and want to just connect via those HUBs to the Hue Philips smart bulbs, but you cannot without the additional Hue HUB. This is true for Samsung Smart Home and also for Alexa type devices. You will need to purchase the Hue HUB, but my feedback is that you are better off anyway as you will see that you have unique options and setup within the Hue HUB/App that will indeed work better with the Hue smart bulbs. You can connect Alexa once you have the Hue Hub as well as the bulbs and use voice control. So buy the HUB and download the Hue Philips app to your phone. The HUB is not expensive. This Hue App will make it very simple to set up and use your bulbs. Now you can alter the colors if you have color LED Hue bulbs or change the kind of white light with other bulbs. This is great for getting the right light for what you are doing like reading or brighter for assembling electronics or whatever. The HUE app is very well done and professional, easy to use and never fails. The app also has some canned lighting setups for a particular ambience you may like - so that's another benefit of the Hue App. One piece of feedback is important and I did not know this till I tried it. If you configure a bedroom light for example into your smart lighting setup, you might think that you will need the cell phone to turn the light on and the cell phone may be off charging or otherwise not available. Not to worry, flip the light switch off then back on, and the bulb will light - that's smart design by Philips even though it sounds simple. However, when you shut the bulb power down and back on, any special lighting color for that bulb that you had set is removed and you’ll have to set up your colors and brightness levels again. I definitely recommend the Philips bulbs and HUB, it is another correct step in automating your home.

What can I say , they are bulbs, expensive ones yet high quality made so you do not feel cheated. The bulbs work right out of the box, you screw them in and turn them on. However if you want the WIFI / App functionality you will need to ensure you have the Hue Bridge. I wish the bulbs themselves had WIFI built in to make things easier, however if you are buying the bulbs more then likely you have a Hue Bridge. There is a double layer casing to help protect the bulb from decaying from touch as well as the housing fits in most light fixtures. Be sure to read the box as there are "White Ambiance" bulbs as well as "White and Color Ambiance" bulbs Pros: Rated 15,000 bulb life Energy Efficient Durability Bulb Casing Plug and Light Cons: Cost Must Have Hue Bridge (Sold Separately) Lumen Rating (450 Lumen) Overall I would recommend this product if you are interested in controlling all your lights with an app. It is energy efficient, fun to modify/change lights and very convenient when away from the room / house.

This is a tiny candle bulb (E12 base) that can bring a new life into those small light fixtures you might have. Color output is pretty amazing for the size! It's an extended color light which means it can go into deeper blues and greens than a previous generation Hue lights. Light output is equivalent to 450 lumen (about 40W incandescent) which is not very bright, but ideal for accent lighting. In addition to color mode - this bulb can be used in "shades of white" mode where you define a color temperature from 2000K (candle flame) to 6500K (bright daylight), this makes this bulb a better choice than Iris or Bloom if you already have a fixture in place. Home automation features such as schedules, accessories, Apple HomeKit compatibility are all the same as with other Philips Hue bulbs. In short Pros: - small size, about the same as an incandescent bulb, will fit into any fixture with E12 sockets - very rich color output - "shades of white" mode - Has all Hue family remote control and automation features Cons: - light output of 450lm is not sufficient for general lighting, but it works great in accent lights - bulb goes into full brightness mode if power is interrupted and restored

    Very Fun and Cool Light

Who knew a light could be so fun! This decorative light can somehow change to any color you can imagine. There isn't much else to say about the light except that it works great. The only thing I would change would be the base - would rather see it in a standard base instead of candelabra. I purchased an adapter so I could plug my light in on the ceiling where we all hang out (for great ambience). The most difficult part about using a smart light is that you have to have a bridge installed to use it - it won't connect directly to any apps without a bridge. With a Philips Hue Bridge you can set programs and put on some pretty cool light shows. Instead of installing a Hue Bridge, I set my lights up with the Amazon Echo Plus, which has a built in bridge. Just in case you are interested, I thought I would share my thoughts on this. The really cool thing about using the Echo Plus is that you can tell Alexa to turn the light on, turn to whatever color you like, and to whatever brightness percent you like. The downside is that Alexa doesn't have an app that can program the light to create effects (like a sunrise for example). The only way to change the light color is to do it with voice. The Philips Hue app won't recognize the bridge on the Echo Plus, which I am hoping that changes in the future. My guess is that Philips wants you to buy their bridge instead of using the Echo bridge. Since it is still a new device, I am hoping that Philips changes their app or that Alexa adds one. Overall, no matter how you hook it up this light is a definite buy and almost enough reason to get your smart home started!

If you're reading this, I am assuming you've already invested in the Phillips Hue ecosystem. You need a Hue Bridge to get things going (sold separately or in a starter kit) and then you can add bulbs as you go along. With that in mind, this bulb's biggest drawback is the price; $50 for a bulb is tough to swallow when you need dozens to fill your house. You're probably like me and just pick a few light fixtures here and there to convert from "dumb to smart." Set up is easy. Once you screw it in, turn the light switch on, (assuming you have a Hue Bridge) it takes seconds to find the bulb on the Hue app. Adjusting the color is super easy and honestly, fun. The options are endless. My biggest concern (and it may be my lack of experience and use of the bulbs) is that I can't adjust the colors of the bulbs with my voice via Google Home. So I have to go into the app to change the color. This honestly isn't a big deal, you would think that you would change the colors all the time, but you really don't. And the other big drawback applies to ALL smart light bulbs, they rely on the wall switch to be on in order to activate with your voice. IF the switch is off, you can' turn it on with your voice. My only word of advice is to MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT SIZE BULB!! This is a decorative candle bulb for certain light fixtures and are NOT the same size as "normal" light bulbs.

I’d like to give a positive review on this smart bulb but I can’t. Not because the product is not good, I cannot tell that. The reason becomes clear when you look at the box. Take a look the front and back of the box. Can you tell where it clearly mentions that you need a Hue Bridge? What is the Hue Bridge, where is it mentioned? It is there, not on the front but on the back with one tiny sentence “ requires a Hue Bridge.” There is another equally small sentence of “ Dimmable only with Hue compatible devices. “ No where is this clear on the front of the box and barely noticeable on the back. So for you to use all the features, functions and benefits of this bulb , you need to buy the Hue Bridge at a cost of about $60. These bulbs are $50 each so for a 4 bulb fixture, this will cost $260 plus tax. Even if I was able to fully review the product, I would not recommend this product on the cost alone.

In order to use HUE in as many rooms (and outdoors) as possible, I changed several light fixtures that had Candelabra sockets to fixtures with the older Medium Base sockets. That enabled me to use HUE bulbs, which were previously only available in the larger size base. Now HUE is also available in the Candelabra base! They are pricey, but these are the smartest & the brightest LED lights available today in this small base. They are bright & the colors are the same as with the "full size" Medium Base HUE bulbs. Lumens: 450 Average Life (hours): 25,000 Shape: E12 Candelabra Energy used: 6-Watt Lumens per watt: 80-Watt Watt Equivalence: 40 Watt These Generation 3 bulbs produce rich multicolor light just like existing Medium Base HUE bulbs & work with the same software & app as the other HUE bulbs & Light Strips. These bulbs, like all HUE products, easily earn my 5-Star Rating!

These are great candle color LED lamp bulbs.. Espececially the blues! These work with amazon alexa, apple homekit, and even google assistant. These are not for everyone however, as they are pretty expensive, especially for just one. But wow are they cool once you are in the Philips Hue ecosystem. They even will work with your Hue Dimmer Switch, Hue Tap, and Hue Motion Sensor. I was suprised to find out it also will work with a Nest or SmartThings setup too. I love being able to change the light colors from my smartphone and tablet, and changing the actual “HUE” of the colors too. It is like being able to change the color of the paint on a room at your will!! The bulbs themselves are there brightest on the middle brightness settings. While the bulbs are pricey, I can see getting even more of these down the line. For those new to the Phlips HUE ecosystem, you must have a Hue Bridge to use these as intended to control your lights for virtually anywhere you have an internet connection!

I bought a set of these E12 decorative smart light bulbs for my foyer, hanging, open air light fixture. Might also get an accent lamp bc I like the different colors. Love the ability to control the hanging light fixture using the Philips Hue Bridge and app. When I’m away from my property, I can set the hours the lights go on. Can even set a random pattern. With the app, I don’t have to worry about forgetting to set up the time schedule. If I have company over, I use the different colors to liven up the party and create conversation. Also during December, I can use different colors with an accent lamp, to complement my X-Mas tree. Philips Hue Lightning products are the most comprehensive line of smart lightning available now, so have a look around at all they have to offer. These light bulbs are a very nice addition to my home and highly recommend them to anyone with a similar environment/taste.

I have retrofitted most of my home in Philips Hue smart LED bulbs. I love them. They are saving me in energy costs and allow me to set the mood in various rooms by changing the color, hue and brightness of lights. No more needing to purchase different wattage bulbs to do this. The only complaint I have is that they are still way too expensive and the color ones are all sold individually. Wish Phillips would sell these in bulk at a discount without all the fancy packaging. Even when I got these on sale it still cost a bundle to retrofit a home. While I would love to have used the candelabra bulbs in my chandeliers this was just way too pricey for the number of bulbs required .... so the candelabra bulb is not one that I would buy again until the prices come way down and sold in multiples.

I was waiting for this size bulb since the first day I purchased my first Gen 1 bulbs back in the day. Think I’d be happy right? Well, yes, the bulb works fine, and I have 47 Hue bulbs in my house. However, the one thing that makes this product that should be AMAZING, not worth buying, and that is the INSANE price point. I have a small chandelier that needs 8 bulbs. I expected these bulbs to be $19.99, maybe $29.99 for full color, but $49.99? The same price as the full size bulbs? And same with the bigger bulbs, why is there no 4 packs available? I have 6 hubs from buying starter packs to get multiple bulbs at once. How about a little incentive to get us loyal Hue customers to keep buying, instead of being tempted by all the new competitors out there. I hate complaining but the price for this bulb is ABSURD!

This decorative candle from Philips is downright beautiful. When adding it to your home and hue kit it shines and gives your home a wonderful vibe. Not only it can do warm and cool white but it can also do 16 million colors to your liking. It works as expected and adding it to my A19 kit was easy. To me the Philps Hue is worth to own just for the colors bubs alone. The bubs get really bright as well and will illuminate your home with extravagant colors. I personally am just going to buy more of these myself as well as recommend it to my whole family. You can't buy these separately because you will need to hue bridge and a smartphone app to change colors. Philips if you are listening keep improving on this product!

As with most of the Hue system, this bulb is certainly pricey. But if you're able to look past that, the Hue system is one of the best out on the market with its app and voice assistant integration, as well as integration with IFTTT. This bulb can help create just the right atmosphere in areas of your home that use a chandelier—think dining room or perhaps staircase or that chandelier hanging up from your vaulted ceiling? It has excellent dimming capability, a bunch of lighting presets you can use in the app, or you can create your own presets. Setup your lighting group and choose whatever color you want (wish they offered hexadecimal options or manual R,G,B input values).

Expensive but best for what I’ve tried. Only have 2 Wifi bulbs which are Kasa. They are good however I find Phillips to be best reactive lights. Instantaneous vs other smart lights. I have a wink device that controls a bunch of sengled lights. They can sometimes be quirky and slow to react. Phillips is much quicker. Not sure about lifx. Didn’t go with lifx cause I didn’t want to bog down my WiFi router. I have around 35 smart light. Mixed between Phillips, sengled and kasa. I’ve you want budget go sengled. If you want top of line I suggest phillips

HUE Color in a Candelabra Base Bulb

I am admittedly a hard core HUE lighting fanatic & admit to have changed several light fixtures in the house to convert to medium base bulbs so I can use HUE lights. Finally, HUE brings out these E12 candelabra base bulbs which produce the same color rendition and output of their larger siblings. They are expensive, but their reliability is second to none. They always respond, no matter where in the house or even outside the house you locate them. I have located a number in the Outdoor fixtures which are protected from direct rain and they work great! These bulbs are my highest recommendation.

I live in a small apartment with high ceilings. These new hue bulbs have breathed new life into the task and ambiance lighting that i use everyday. Once you configure how you use them day in and day out, its amazing. I have them both connected to Homekit and Alexa, which is super handy! I placed a small order just for the living room (to test). I was so blown away by these for just a couple a weeks i just placed my second order for the kitchen and bathroom.. Side note: I really don't see these being used fully at their potential if you're not tech savvy... If you love techie connected stuff these lights are the route to go...

Philips - Hue White and Color Ambiance E12 Wi-Fi Smart LED Decorative Candle Bulb - Multicolor has been promoted as a breakthrough in lighting and technology, however at the end of the day is merely an LED light bulb unless you have the Philips Hue Bridge. Without this piece of technology, these bulbs are nothing more than extremely expensive LEDs. You can not change colors or control them without the Bridge. Since this package comes without the Hue Bridge, it is only recommended for someone who as already invested in the Philip Hue concept and has the Bridge from a starter kit.

I have had hue lights for a while now. I did not know they had candelabra light bulbs. I was so excited. I had been wrestling with myself if it was worth it to go out and buy the adapter to change the socket from candelabra to a standard light socket. When I saw these lights in the best buy store, I bought them immediately. If you have any experience with the hue lights lineup. They work like the rest of the lights. I currently have 14 Phillip hue bulbs. My plan is to eventually have Phillip hue bulbs in all my lights.

The light is just as easy to setup and use as the standard hue bulbs, which perform as advertised. It also seems as bright. I deducted one star because I’m not fond of the broad white base. As a result, I would never use it in a location where it would be completely in the open, such as the case for most chandeliers. It would look better if they extended the opaque plastic cover all the way down, despite it not allowing light through.

This is a nice bulb as far as light bulbs go. This would be cool for holidays, but I doubt that I could justify paying $50 each for enough of these to fill the chandeliers in my dining room or foyer. The app is the best part of the Philips ecosystem because you can customize them any number of ways from brightness to what time they are turned on and off. All in all, this is a good bulb and if you aren't worried about budget or if you only need a couple for table lamps, I would say go for it. Other than that, I would probably pass on this.
