I like it being waterproof naturally, this makes it very easier to use in the shower without creating a mess in outside living areas. The battery is straight forward to charge and battery life is excellent. The quality of the blades is exceptional. The various multitude of various cutting and trimming attachments is phenomenal. The guides are self explanatory and very easier learning curve. I used it to trim my hair, my beard and upper body hair. I find it is not conducive to private area grooming due to the attachments. The hair and ear trimmer is very functional and of course useful. The battery life I got was at about 4-5 hours with power diminishing as you get to the 5-6 hour mark. The power of the motor is pretty power and no complaints. The build is something I find to be very durable and therefore should provide years of functional usage. The ease of switching attachment is also another big plus. The included travel pouch provides an easy area to keep everything together without you losing the necessary attachments.

Just after 3 months one of the attachments fell apart in my had as I was using it. Just horrible for something that I really liked when I bought it.

Terrible packaging. Clippers were just loose in the box. Looked used, but all the original tape was still on the box so it probably happened during packaging at the factory.

This is my second Philips Norelco beard trimmer, I have the Multigroom 7000 as well so I can provide a good comparison between the two where it applies. After receiving the trimmer, I did a full charge and went through the instructions. I have built up my winter “coat”, so I’ve already managed to trim my beard, neck, body, and side burns. Starting out, I like the travel case that comes with it. Much better than the little bag with 20+ pieces jumbled up in it that comes with the 7000 series. I am not a fan of how the power cord doesn’t come with a USB block, just the cable. The 7000 comes with a regular charging cable which I prefer. Not sure if this tactic was to save money or make it easier to pack and just share charging usb blocks with your phone, but they do say if you need a charging block to contact support, I assume they will ship you one upon request. The 7000 charger does not work on the 9000 either…not sure what the point was of changing the plug between the two, they are both nearly identical. The trimmer itself is quite similar to the 7000 series, in size & weight, and the same attachment sizes. You get about 6 hours of usage from a full charge on the 9000, about an hour more than advertised for the 7000. The 9000 comes with adjustable beard guards which I really like. You get one that adjusts from 1-3mm with micro adjustments between, and then one from 3-7mm. These were a great idea. It was annoying fumbling through a bag full of guards of different colors, trying to find the right size I needed. This way, I only have to keep one or two guards with me at all times to cover all the sizes I need, and can adjust most sizes without swapping them out. TRIMMERS Rating the trimmers from 1-5 (5 is best): Body Groomer – 1, had to go over it several times and still would only barely trim. Nose Trimmer – 3, pretty standard for a nose trimmer. Never been impressed with these from any trimmer I’ve owned, I prefer small scissors. Precision Shaver – 2, felt like it was barely picking up anything when trying to shave my neck. Hair and Extra-wide Trimmer – 5, equally good with the 7000. Cuts well and is sharp. Precision Trimmer – n/a, Don’t ever use it. No point for it IMO unless you want to draw designs on your head. I can reach everything else with the standard trimmer. I’m not sure why the body groomer and shaver were even added, if I was using them correctly they were performing poorly…almost useless. Just like with the 7000, I prefer to use the bare trimmer itself. It works great on the body and neck area. I like to use the wide-trimmer on the body because it covers more area and doesn’t nick or cut as much as the regular trimmer even though its designed to be used on the scalp. GUARDS This is a weird setup IMO. You have a single size eyebrow guard, which didn’t work for me because they are too big, so you must have to have some really thick eyebrows to get them trimmed. There are only 2 size body trimmer yet there are 6 scalp trimmers. And as mentioned earlier, 2 adjustable guards for the beard. Its like they prioritized the trimmer more on people cutting scalp hair with this rather than body and or beards. I’m not sure who would want tiny clippers to cut their head, but that would seem to be the lowest priority for me when shopping for beard clippers. I wished they did include more body or beard guards that were non-adjustable. The adjustable ones, while great, are clunky and big, and make it tough to reach small or narrow areas of your body. These plastic guards must only cost them a dime a piece, so not sure why not add a few more. I ended up trimming my body hair with the bare blade trimmer because I like a close cut, and the 5 & 3mm sizes weren’t small enough for me. Plus the bare trimmer cuts better than having a guard and doesn’t build up hair within the guard. To summarize and share my final thoughts, this trimmer does the job well. The case is nice and easy to pack in a bag. The adjustable beard guards are the nicest accessory to come with it for me, however, I don’t see where the price jump between the 7000 to 9000 is justified. I was expecting something much more premium since the 9000 costs about 45-55% more than the 7000, but the cut, trimmer device, and general usage felt nearly identical. The extra shaver attachments didn’t provide any benefit for me, felt like cheap add-ons that were put there for marketing. Nevertheless, the trimmer itself works well and provides you with most of what you will probably need. I’ve had the 7000 for 3.5 years and it still functions great, so I expect many quality years out of this one.

    Great Trimmer!

My first impression of this trimmer package started with the really nice carrying case that all the accessories fit in. Previous trimmers that we have owned just came in cardboard boxes, which leads to pieces being lost and broken. This kit came with a rubberized zipper case with molded pockets for the attachments and mesh pockets for all the trimmer guards. The trimmer blades are more like professional hair clippers nice and sharp, so no pulling of hairs. Overall construction of these are great, they are nice and heavy feeling. There are 2 different width trimmer blades for use on large areas and small areas, Great for face to a full head of hair. Battery life seems to be very good as well in comparison to other trimmers that we have owned. Now on to the few things we didn't really care for. The trimmer attachment that is designed for more sensitive areas doesn't work very well. It seems to get jammed up with hair pretty easily, it works slightly better with the guard removed. The "finish" shaver attachment works ok, it gets about as close as most electric face shavers do while pulling a little. The last item I feel needs a bit more refining is the nose hair trimmer. It works but I feel if the rotating parts inside the cutter were metal rather than plastic it would work much better. Even with these few short comings I would definitely recommend this package if you're in the market for a all around good trimmer package.

I use this trimmer to keep my beard looking good and trim my hair. It is easy to use and does a great job on my old gray beard. I like the attachments, particularly the selectable beard length attachment, pick a number if it works for you, leave it there for the rest of the time.

My old trimmer died months ago and I kind of just shrugged and didn't do anything until I got this. Was very excited to take this for a spin as I shaved my beard down to a civilized size. Comes with a ton of guards, both adjustable and fixed, guards for doing a fade, as well as a pretty nice carrying case. Only complaint with the overall package is that there are so many guards and accessories that it's actually hard to zip everything closed. I think I'll probably end up tossing all of those plastic guards into a big bag or something because I just don't have a use for them. If you have kids in the house, or are routinely cutting hair at different and very specific short lengths, then these things are amazing. I tried them out just because it's been so long since I've even had a trim, and they work great. But I've been trimming my beard free-hand for year so I don't need these. Speaking of free hand trimming, this comes with an extra wide trimming blade which on its own makes this the best trimmer I've ever used. Huge time saver as being able to make longer straight lines is super convenient. Overall great little trimmer. Takes awhile to charge through the included figure 8 to usb-A cable, you have to use you're own power brick, but seems to have plenty of power for lots of cutting/trimming. I like that it's wet/dry and so far seems easy to clean. Yeah it's great.

Takes Grooming Luxury to the Next Level

Grooming products can be highly individualized to a person’s needs and preference. A few years ago I decided to try the Philips 7000 trimmer because it offered a large selection of head attachments, and seemed heavy duty. I wasn’t disappointed at all. The battery life was great, it had a little travel pouch that held all the parts, and had the trimmer tools and flexibility for my needs. Fast forward to now with the 9000 Multigroom trimmer. It has all the heavy duty and battery robustness of the 7000 with even more options for grooming. Some notable additions include two guards that offer a dialing length adjustment so that you can have precision beard length, more options for body hair trimming, and instead of the pouch that the 7000 included, it has a hard sided case that holds all the pieces so it’s even easy to travel with. The body of the 9000 is similar to the 7000 in that it has a stainless steel shell, but the rubberized grips and accents to hold it comfortably feel more contoured. So it has an even more premium feel. It is as quiet a motor as the 7000, which I always appreciated with that model as well. Overall I would highly recommend the 9000 Multigroom to anyone looking for a high quality and versatile trimmer. It’s not inexpensive, but it will last you a long time, and likely save you money long term.

Some of us have to contend with body hair where we may not desire it to be. For me, it’s arm hair that shrouds my tattoos that adorn both of them. And then there’s the occasional nose hair that will protrude from my nostril. Shaving the arm air with a razor is tedious and sometimes misses spots, and I can’t use a laser hair-removing device because that will damage the ink. And I’ve attempted plucking the nose hair(s) but that’s a painful effort that I am not willing to commit to. I went with the Philips Norelco Multigroom 9000 because it has other grooming options that I may explore down the road. It’s Waterproof: My previous shaver wasn’t allowed in the shower which was inconvenient. I used the Norelco 9000 on my arms in the shower and it was a smooth experience. And when I say it was a smooth experience, I mean it. Normally, when I have used other shavers on my arms, there’s redness and faint traces of irritation from the bare blades. With the 9000, I didn’t see any irritations whatsoever. Also, I didn’t have to re-shave. It got each hair on the first go. I also decided to groom my chest (which I do occasionally). Again, fantastic trimming without issues. The NetherRealm: A lot of us prefer to be well groomed in areas that are rather ‘sensitive’. I’ve tried using standard grooming shavers down there only to be wincing as I cursed into the void. And I dare not attempt a standard razor to groom the forbidden forest because I just don’t trust myself to have a steady hand. So, I attached the bodyguard over the blades (the 3mm option). I am happy to report that there weren’t any sudden “catches”. Haircuts: The Norelco 9000 comes with a wide variety of attachments that allow you to precisely trim your beard, sideburns, and mustache. Maybe one day I will be able to grow a beard worthy enough to be trimmed. However, having the options with the various hair guards will allow me to trim my unruly hair when I can’t get to a barber/stylist. Or I can have a friend do the trimmings since the guards are foolproof. Whatever your hairstyle may be, I am pretty sure the 9000 has an attachment for it. There are also attachments for eyebrow grooming and nose/ear trimming. Maintenance: The Norelco 9000 is easy to clean. Whether in the shower or the sink. It’s just easy. Switching out the blade heads and guard attachments is just as simple as well. No need to apply awkward pressure when changing heads. Just fit and snap. I’m enjoying the Norelco 9000 immensely in the few days that I have used it. It’s a quality device that I foresee being around for a while.

With this one trimmer, I can almost replace the three different trimmers I was using. Grooming tools today need to satisfy a range range of use cases, everything from trimming beard hair and eyebrows to edging around ears or necklines and grooming body hair in various nooks and crannies. Due to that wide variety of use cases, I was employing three different trimmers, each of which was optimized for one or two of those uses. This one has a few different attachments that can help optimize its function toward specific uses. It also has different guards that clip on those attachments to leave the right length of hair behind. There are two different multi-length guards for the medium-sized clippers, which IMO are optimized for trimming facial hair. I only need to use the longer one, but I can imagine that if you kept your facial hair closer to stubble-length, you might use the shorter one. The teeth (or comb) on the guard are more closely spaced, making it much more comfortable than my last beard trimmer. It also does a better job of lifting the hair into the clippers, meaning it requires fewer passes over the same area to ensure an even length. This trimmer is also much more effective at trimming moustache hair. This would almost be worth using just for that improvement alone. The different clippers are fairly easy to snap on and off, which also makes it easier to clean the clippers. There are no hidden areas for hair trimmings to collect, and no tools required to get to those areas for cleaning. Neither is there any oiling required. All-in-all, this is a great tool for grooming hair to various lengths in varying places.
