Once you try french fries with this unit, you'll never fry them in oil again. The air fryer has a preset for frozen fries and converts them to crunchy crisp fries in 18 minutes. Probably my favorite part of this unit though is the cleanup. The basket easily comes apart to make cleaning a breeze and then just as easily goes back together.
Everything for operation is digital from the timer to the temperature with a unique push button dial to execute and start the unit. Once done frying it also has a keep warm setting.
The unit also comes with a book of recipes and more are available from the Philips app.
We are very impressed with this fryer and are left wondering why were messing around with our previous cheaper unit from another company that took longer to fry and was hard to clean.

It's a nice enough unit, and does its job well. I use it to cut down on oven times (many of the items I put in the fryer take half as long to cook) and to cut down on the heat that my big oven puts out when I fire it up. I've cooked steaks, frozen corn dogs and burritos, potatoes, pork chops, and chicken in the Phillips, and its done an outstanding job. When we are in a hurry and need to whip up a quick meal, we throw some corn dogs in the basket, put it in the fryer, set the temp at 400 F, and cook for 8 minutes. Gives us a wonderfully golden crisp finish on the breading and its delicious. In a regular oven, the same process can take 25 minutes easy, so it's nice to have that kind of speed. We've done the same with taquitos and burritos, cutting out the defrost stage in the microwave and then frying them in oil.
I'd love to air fry a fish, but this unit doesn't come with the non-stick pan that Phillips offers to do that. There are some different attachments you can order from Phillips, this unit only comes with the mesh basket. Additionally, the basket in this thing is pretty small. If you're cooking proteins for a couple of people, it will be ok, but there just isn't enough room in the basket to feed more than that.
The Phillips air fryer also comes with a recipe book and a mobile app that supplies hundreds of more recipes. They are worthy of perusing. This is a great kitchen component that will cut down on oven cooking times while also keeping things healthier.

This is our first air fryer, so I'll try to focus on the operation and results and not on air fryers in general. This particular air fryer seems to be a good size, but as it doesn't list it's size in quarts (it lists it in lbs. of food), it's hard to compare it to other fryers on the market. I will say that everything we've cooked so far has turned out really well. We've done a pork tenderloin, fries and cheese sticks. The fries and sticks were perfect, very crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The tenderloin turned out perfect as well. Very juicy and flavorful.
The controls are extremely intuitive. Press the temperature button and turn the dial to set the degrees, press the timer button and turn the dial to set the time. Push the dial in to start cooking. If you want to pause cooking and pull out the drawer to check on the cooking progress, simply push in the dial to pause, pull out the drawer to flip things over or take a peek, close the drawer and push the dial again to keep on cooking from where it left off. There's also preset cooking modes you can use for cooking things like veggies, poultry, pork, etc.. Very intuitive. The digital display is a really good color, and very easy to read.
Cleanup is very easy. Everything comes apart nicely and cleans up without any scrubbing. All the removable parts are dishwasher safe, although we've just given them a swish with a soapy sponge and and a rinse. The outside of the fryer does not get hot and you can move it if you need to without getting burned. The cooking vent is on the back side, so it doesn't blow out where you might put your hands.
The instruction manual is on the small side, and not very easy to read but that's pretty typical of any new device you but these days. There's also a recipe booklet included that can help you get started. We actually just looked up cooking time for various foods online. There's lots of web sites devoted to air fryer cooking. All in all, this fryer was a big hit for us. It cooked the food perfectly, the operation was very easy and the cleanup couldn't be easier. Can't say enough about it, great job Phillips!

When we received the Air Fryer it quickly made a home in our kitchen. We recently moved and our new kitchen oven lacks the convection “Quick Bake” feature that we had become accustomed to, and this air fryer quickly filled that void.
The unit is intuitive to use, cooks quickly and is easy to clean.
Over the past couple weeks, we have used it to cook: Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Breasts, Sweet Potato Fries, and Broccoli Tots. All came out great and took so much less time than they would have in the oven, or on the grill. The Chicken Breasts were the biggest surprise for me. They had an extremely thing crispy layer on the outside, but very juicy on the inside.
I would absolutely recommend this unit.

This air fryer costs twice as much as a lot of other air fryers and it doesn't allow you to select the full range of temperatures between 200 and 400. I wanted to follow a recipe that called for the machine to be set to 360, the wheel only allows you to select 350 or 375, NOTHING in between. I thought it was human error and contacted customer service. They explained the limitation and I will return the machine because that is ridiculous.

Great Cooking, Easy to Use, Instructions Poor

As a first time user of an air fryer, it’s important to read and understand the instructions but the accompanying air fryer user manual is not user friendly. Instructions refer to figure illustrations that are on the inside flap of the front and back pages so one has to go back and forth to find the correct illustration (there are 54). Then the display of parts is on page one and its corresponding identification is on page 8. So again you flip back and forth to understand what information goes with what pictorial. After that though, the cooking process is quite easy. Putting together the basket was literally a snap and selecting temperature and time was easy to do. Food (and we tried raw, battered and frozen) both veggies and meat came out cooked just right with the temperature and times advised in the manual. The air fryer works as advertised and will be a part of our cooking fried foods. Pan parts quickly come apart for cleaning. The air fryer is easy to use and produces perfectly fried foods.

This Philips Air fryer is the 1st fryer that I have had in a long time. The last one used oil and made a big mess. I hardly used it at all. This one is a breeze to operate, easy to clean ad does a great job.
It's very easy to operate. Once you hit the power button, you simply use a control know to change the settings. turn the dial left or right to change the temperature that is shown on the digital display click the wheel then turn it left or right to set the timer. Click the wheel again and the unit starts up.
I've made fish, shrimp, chicken, frozen fries, fries from scratch, mozzarella sticks and a lot more. There are so many things you can cook in this frier and it does it all in about half the time it would in the oven.
Cleanup is as simple as washing the internal basket and oil catcher from the bottom of the basket. It is so easy to use and clean that I make something in it just about every meal now.
This unit is great and I highly recommend it.

Delicious food, cleanup a chore

We have made egg roles, steak, and wings so far and all three were delicious. All crispy on the outside while the meats were juicy on the inside. The wings were amazing as not greasy at all. This fryer definitely does what it’s supposed to, fry delicious low fat food. The unit is very heavy and not conducive to keeping under counter for that reason. However, it is very nice looking and looks great on the counter if you have the room (it is fairly large). Biggest negative is cleanup. There are four components that have to be washed after each use and washing them is not easy. All of the components are supposed to be dishwasher safe, but I’m a little leary about how long the metal components would last after being washed several times in a dishwasher. We did wash it one time in the dishwasher. However, there is a fan looking type “pan” that goes in the bottom of the basket. It has small feet which seem to capture food and did not come clean in the dishwasher. This same piece is the most difficult of the washable components to wash by hand. To summarize, cleanup takes some time. Operating the fryer is pretty straightforward with digital temperature display and preset temperatures available with one button. Another negative is that the manual temperature knob will only allow you to choose temperatures in 25° increments. Because of this, it is not possible to choose the exact temperature that some recipes call for. This is the only fryer I have used, so not able to compare to others. Despite the cleanup time, the end result is well worth it as the food is delicious.

So I’ve been wanting an air fryer for quite some time. Having the opportunity to finally get my hands on the Phillips Digital Air Fryer, I would have to say that it has changed the quality of some of my meals for the better!
I’ll begin by saying this is almost the perfect size for maybe one or two people when cooking things like chicken. For a larger family, you might have to look for a larger capacity fryer.
One of the first things I made with this air fryer was chicken wings. It was fast (maybe about 15 minutes) and they turned out perfect. They had an ever-so slight crisp on the outside. After I took them out, I tossed them in a bowl to coat them in buffalo wing sauce, and bam – homemade wings.
Frozen foods also come out amazing with this air fryer. I’ve warmed up egg rolls, mozzarella sticks, and taquitos in this. Each have come out perfectly crispy. Previously, I used a regular oven to warm these items up, and while it did the job, the outcome in the air fryer is just way better.
The actual device is simple to use, and the digital display does make operation easy compared to some other lower-end air fryers that have analog dials. There is a base in the basket that captures all the grease/oils, so it makes cooking your food that much healthier. The pan is a non-stick surface, so cleaning up after was easy, although it did take a little more scrubbing than I expected.
Overall, I would say that the Phillips Digital Air Fryer is a great buy. It’s relatively small to store away when not in use, works efficiently to cook food, and has a nice design. There are apparently accessories that can be purchased separately, so I am looking forward to seeing what I can buy from Phillips. If you’re looking for an air fryer to try, do not hesitate with this device.

A new fan of Air Fryers

This is the first Air Fryer I have owned or used.... and I love it. Food just tastes better in it than a microwave. I have been cooking some chicken sandwiches in it instead of the microwave and they are about a million times better in my opinion... I've tried a few of the recipes and just randomly tried a few items on my own. First thing I thought of was fryer equals panko breaded items and those are delicious and good and chicken nuggets actually taste like they should coming out of that instead of a regular oven. But since then I've tried just throwing veggies in there with just basic prep, things like zucchini, sweet potatoes, broccoli, carrots, and I love how they taste. Then I tried a steak roll (flank stead with a layer of spinich and a red pepper spread rolled then cut) that I then put a layer of panko bread crumbs on and that brought that little dish to a whole new level... Basically it has become my new favorite toy in the kitchen. For the fat removal I do have to say that it seems to work, the flank steak had very little fat to remove and so it was fairly clean and most things are when I go to clean it. But I cooked a burger that was 80/20 on the meat/fat content and lets leave it at that it wasn't the most appetizing looking thing I've pulled out of there... (though it did taste pretty good once I cleaned it up a bit) Pretty much I love this thing and would recommend it. I have the larger version and I'm not sure if I could handle anything smaller though I cook for two of us adults and a couple of toddlers so that might differ for you.

So this is my first air fryer, and I have to say I'm very impressed. I was able to cook a full meal in almost have the time it would have taken in my oven.
It was very intuitive to use, big enough for a family and cleanup was a breeze. I don't have anything to compare it to but in my opinion this is the one you want to buy!

I never knew what I was missing!! This thing is awesome! I always thought this to be a gimmicky item till now!
Love this thing, easy to use, cleans up quickly, and all dishwasher safe.
A favorite is obviously wings! They cook evenly and come out crispy and steaming! Fries are good as well. Just a spritz of oil and they are fabulous!
I now need to get a few accessories such as the roast pan and stacked grillers so I can cook for 2.
The size of the overall unit is not bad and fits on counter easily.
Highly recommended!!

I have been thinking about an air fryer for a long time. I've heard so much about how great they work and prepare food. After using one, I can confirm that I will NEVER use a microwave or toaster over again if I don't have to!
The digital controls are so easy to use, cleaning up after use is very easy, and the food comes out perfect every time. This air fryer is the perfect size for modest 4 person family, 2 adults and 2 child. (I am not convinced 4 adult could enjoy an entire meal from this size) The cooking area disassembles and can be hand washed or machine washed.
This air fryer has quickly become my go to appliance, at least for my entrees / main dish.

Personal Sized Air Fryer

So i selected this product knowing that air frying is supposed to be a much healthier way of cooking than conventional frying. I would say in terms of cooking ability, this product is pretty awesome. I was able to season some boneless skinless chicken thighs and in 16 minutes they were juicy inside with a little bit of crust outside. One challenge is actually getting the unit set up - the instructions are reminiscent of a certain Swedish furniture company; there are words to follow but on a completely different page than the pictures. I definitely found myself fumbling until i got it all together and from there i was good. Another great thing about this product is the number of available accessories. You can grill and bake; as well as double stacking with a special rack. These accessories do not come with the unit and you will end up wanting at least the grill pan if you intend to use it regularly.
Overall i would say this is worth the price you pay as long as you’re single and don’t have to cook for a family.

A Convection Oven Would Serve you Better

Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I like the concept of the air fryer, except is is basically a countertop convection oven with a smaller footprint.
Functionality wise, it works fine. Set the temp, time and you're off. It is noisy if you have a small apartment though, so keep that in mind.
You're better off with a real countertop convection oven, it does the sam thing. The oven would also double as a normal toaster oven, which I'm a fan of reheating pizza in. I wouldn't attempt that with an air fryer.
It does what it claims to do and well, but I don't see the need for the product in the end.
