Elegant and powerful, the Sonicare 9000 offers a luxurious touch to fine dental hygiene. I’ve used several electric toothbrushes over the past decade+ and keep going back to Sonicare because they consistently provide the best mouth clean feeling with outstanding build quality. The 9000 lives up to that reputation, offering a waterproof body, 4 cleaning modes (clean, white, gum health, deep clean), 3 levels of intensity, a pressure sensor, brush pacer, and 14 days of battery life. It even connects to the Sonicare app which can automatically track your brushing pressure, habits, and length between brush head changes. The app is easy to connect to and pretty useful if you want to create good brushing habits for yourself and family. I’m not sure what the difference is with the special edition, but the somewhat bluish teal body looks great and the gold ring on top offers a touch of luxury. The charging base is also nicer than previous models I’ve used, with a round body and translucent top cap for the brush base to nestle in. It doesn’t offer the poles to store additional brush heads, but I never used those anyway. The case is gloss black and well made. It’s similar to the case of my old Sonicare brush, but slimmed down significantly. The old case was convenient to put in your luggage, but this new one is convenient enough for your glovebox. Using the brush is simple with one button for start/stop and the other to cycle through brush modes. The body is motion activated and picking it up will illuminate hidden writing that highlights what brush modes are available, brush intensity, and battery level. How the light gently fades in and out is a little detail that I admire, because it helps build around an overall theme of high quality and luxury. The pressure sensor is a nice safety touch, because it will notify you if you’re pressing too hard on your teeth and gums. If you’re used to counting or watching a clock to ensure you’re getting a full 2+ minutes cleaning session, you’ll love the brush pacer which will pulse every 30 seconds to let you know when to switch sections. It makes brushing a thoughtless exercise, which now enables me to do other thoughtless exercises while I brush like scrolling through Twitter. If you’re in the market for a high end and luxurious looking electric toothbrush, you cannot go wrong with the Sonicare 9000 Special Edition. It offers proven results in an elegant body and an outstanding clean mouth feel. Highly recommended.

The Sonicare 9000 Diamond Clean toothbrush is slick little device. It looks cool out of the box. I love the blue finish. This is a toothbrush that “stands out.” The lighting effects are a neat touch. Philips isn’t skimping on the extras, either. Inside the box, you get a brush head, a travel case, a charging stand, and a charging base. That separate stand is a nice touch as it is clear and easy to clean without gumming up the base. The Sonicare 9000 is my very first “smart toothbrush.” Using a toothbrush with a smartphone app has taken me a bit to get used to, but it’s a nice feature to have. The app times your brushing sessions and helps coach you on appropriate toothbrush pressure. On the brush itself, you will see the power button, the mode button, and towards the bottom is a pressure sensitivity indicator. You wake up the brush just by picking it up. Before you turn on the brush, set your mode. Then hit power. If you wish to change the brushing intensity, you can then press the mode again to cycle between three preset intensities. Setting up the brush with the Sonicare app on my Android phone was super easy. You download the Sonicare app from the app store and then follow the onscreen instructions. One complaint, it’s that a lot of the brushing modes feel useless without the app. My brush doesn’t pause or light up indicating it’s time to shift zones. Without the app, the mode button feels almost useless. I couldn’t tell a difference between clean, clean+, whitening, or gum health beyond the timer in the Sonicare app. My second complaint is that the pressure sensitivity indicator is facing the wrong way. I don’t see it while brushing. If the indicator life was built into the base of the brush or on the back of the handle, I would be more apt to see it. As is, it kind of gets lost there on the front of the handle out of my view. Why have the indicator if it isn’t visible to the user? Based on the estimated life, Philips expects you will replace the brush heads roughly every three months. Currently, the price for the replacement heads is around $30 for a two pack. They also come in packs of four. At $15 a brush head, that seems reasonable. Plus, if you want to switch to a different brush head such as one that focuses on whitening or gum health, you could easily do so. Again, this toothbrush looks great. The travel case is a nice touch. App integration works, it just feels a bit empty, to me. Pressure sensitivity indicator is a great idea, but on this brush, it just isn’t useful. Still, my mouth has never felt cleaner. 4.5/5 Easily Recommend

If you’re in the market for a toothbrush, then the Sonicare 9000 is a must. It’s super clean looking, feels great in the hand, and I can already tell it’s a top notch cleaner. It’s not the first sonicare product and it certainly won’t be the last. This offers a fantastic brushing experience. I love that there are different brushing styles I can select. I use the clean setting, which is the daily clean equivalent. I’ve also been using the clean feature once a week and the gum health setting once a week. You can definitely feel the brush style and pressure change. I’ve only had the brush for a short time, so I’ve used the deep clean only once. It certainly felt like a deep clean, so I recommend that be used once a month. They maintain you’ll see a difference after using the toothbrush for 3 days. Well… I can nod my head in agreement. I brush twice a day and although my dentist says my teeth look great, she’s always recommending a sonicare. I really can’t wait to see what she’ll think come my next cleaning. I really like there’s a charger that comes with the toothbrush. It’s not the most esthetically or minimal charger I’ve seen, but it charges the battery nicely. You only use the brush 1-2 times a day for about 3 minutes so it’s not like you need to constantly charge the toothbrush. So far I’ve charged it on my weekends. Although I’m not a fan of leaving my devices plugged in charging overnight, you can definitely do that. Pros: Light Battery charger Different brush settings – clean, white, gum health and deep clean Travel case Great price for one of the best on the market Will let you know if you’re brushing too hard Cons: Will need to purchase additional heads Some brushing settings felt very similar Overall: This is a must. It offers a fantastic brush with all the settings you need. I know the price will deter some folks from wanting to try this. But believe me, this is a really good price for a lifechanging brushing experience.

Pros Attractive Design Lets you know if you are brushing too hard Tracks when it’s time to replace the brush head Automatically switches to the correct mode based on brush head Has 3 adjustable brush intensities Pressure sensor alerts when you brush too hard App automatically tracks your brushing habits Syncs brushing habits with Apple HealthKit Cons Lackluster travel case App could offer more descriptions Sonicare seems to offer a version of their toothbrushes to fit every budget and style. The Sonicare 9000 Special Edition is more for those who want more options and information about how they brush but also want their toothbrush to look more elegant on the countertop. With the blue to black gradient, metal accent ring, and black chrome base this toothbrush is meant to be left visible on the counter. Even when you put a new brush head on, it doesn’t just switch to the mode that matches the brush head. The lights fade in a cascade from the top down to the correct mode. If there was anything that detracts from this feeling of elegance it would be the travel case. It is made of very thing plastic and the place where your brush head and body stays aren’t even distinct. The case feels as if it was an afterthought. That said, it does the job just fine. A change from past Sonicare models is the easy start brush intensity is turned off by default. If you haven’t used Sonicare in the past, it would be good to activate this feature to help you get used to the feeling. You can also turn off the brush head reminder and pressure alerts although you would lose the convenience they provide. The toothbrush can also pair with your phone. It isn’t required but if you are the type that either wants coaching on your brushing or just to track your brushing habits this can be helpful. If you have the app open when brushing it shows you how much brushing time you have left for each of the 6 brushing segments but also gives you a visible warning if you are brushing too hard. It also tracks in the app the amount of pressure you apply while brushing. If you have an iPhone, it can also sync your brushing habits with HealthKit. What seems a bit strange is when you set up the app it explains it needs to have permission locations. It says it is needed to know if you are near your toothbrush for automatic logging of brushing. It’s hard to see exactly how GPS helps unless maybe the sync feature will see any toothbrush, and this is used to make sure you are at home and it is your own. If that is the case one would wonder how it might handle a household with more than one of these toothbrushes. In either case, you don’t have to allow GPS to use the app, it says instead you will need to pair your toothbrush every two weeks. IF you are in the market for a new Sonicare with the brush sync features, like the ability to choose brushing intensity, or want a more stylish toothbrush the Sonicare 9000 Special Edition is a great option.

I was looking to try out an electric toothbrush to see the difference from using a regular one and was very impressed. I never really thought about using one but now that I have, I will not be going back to the basic toothbrush anytime soon. The Philips Sonicare toothbrush is very easy to use and comes with a ton of great features to aid in providing a complete teeth cleaning. The packaging was very impressive with everything nicely sectioned and wrapped. It comes with a nice recharge station and portable case that helps with travel. The recharge station is compact and easy to place in small areas to keep out of the way or make for easy packing. The toothbrush itself is easy to clean and the toothbrush head is mid-level brussels. I was hoping they would pack 2 different toothbrush heads, a mid and soft for those who are unsure which level is better for the mouth. The toothbrush base has great indicators for which mode its in and battery level. I enjoy how easy it was to change the brush mode on the toothbrush along with the "easy start" feature it has. The best part about this toothbrush is there's an indicator if you brush too hard to save your gums. The battery life is very good and found after a week long trip I still did not need to charge it. I was also impressed with the instruction manual, it outlined so many of the features which was nice for first timers like myself to understand what all it can do. Overall this is a powerful toothbrush with a tons of features with a great instruction manual. It is easy to travel with and has good battery life. I would recommend this product who wishes to try out an electric toothbrush!

I already own another version of the Sonicare Toothbrushes so I'm familiar with how strong and great it brushes. What the 9000 does over my version is that it has a Whitening setting. From what I can tell it's just a deep clean but a minute longer. Does it make it better than my older version? Not sure just yet. The specs say it can whiten your teeth in just three days. I've taken a before and after photo, but the lighting and white point are the same in both. So any difference could just be from the camera. Regardless, I'm in love! If you have one of those rotary electric brushes you'll forget about them as soon as you feel the deep scrubbing the Sonciare puts on you. It's actually so relaxing that I've gone two cycles sometimes just to keep the meditation going. Just running your tongue over your teeth and you can feel how much the Sonicare 9000 takes off your teeth. It's almost like getting a dentist cleaning as smooth as my teeth feel. The only thing negative I have to say about the Sonicare really isn't its own fault. I've started dabbling in activated charcoal for brushing...DO NOT take the brush out of your mouth with the motor running. There'll be black spittle all over your bathroom! Lesson learned, lol. If my Sonicares ever die I'm grabbing another. I can't believe I went so long without one.

Phillips sonicare toothbrush is amazing. They did an amazing job when they made this and the app . I can tell you hands down this toothbrush does the job all the time. I do recommend using the app so you can learn how to brush your teeth and also update the toothbrush. The app and the handle let you know when the brush head has to be replaced. You can even subscribe to get a new brush head every month so you never worry about running out . They have different brush head types and you get a few in the box to try them out . On the handle you can set the speed to 3 modes and what type of brushing you want like clean, white+, gum health and deep clean+. You get the "wireless" charger . Just like the phone where you place it on a pad but the toothbrush brings the dock or the cup and place the handle there and it will charge it. There is no port which i like cuz after all it's water resistant you can brush your teeth in the shower . Plus you get the travel case that charges it too with USB plug.

This is the most amazing toothbrush I’ve ever used. My mouth feels cleaner than it ever did after using a regular toothbrush. The battery lasts a long while. I go days without charging it. The brush has lasted me almost a month so far and it doesn’t seem to need to be changed yet. The quality of it feels top notch. In conclusion, I can’t believe I went so long without using an electric toothbrush, and I think I have one of the better ones. This wasn’t a cheap toothbrush, but it was well worth the $100 price tag. I got it on sale, the original price is $200. I absolutely recommend it.

We're a Sonicare family as you can see by the rainbow of Sonicare toothbrush flavors we have for use at home and travel. Primarily, we've stuck to the sub-$100 to $120-ish brushes in the past, and frankly I've never really felt like I missed much over Sonicare's more premium offerings, especially once we moved up to the models that feature more than one brushing program anyway. However, after spending some time with the Sonicare 9000 SE, both my wife and I agree that along with the dramatic bump in style and build quality you get from having this admittedly handsome toothbrush sitting next to the sink, you really CAN feel the difference in product quality and product performance both in the hand and on the teeth. In terms of style and quality, the Sonicare 9000 SE is definitely a more refined and almost indulgent oral hygiene product. The dark blue and black colorway is quite striking in person, and the gold metal accents and deep bronze charging base really give this product a dash of class that certainly isn't necessary, but is definitely appreciated. The LCD display is easy to read with mode displays that gradually fade in and out as you move between settings. When you place the toothbrush on the charging stand, the LED display cascades down through the various setting indicators and a quick confirmation tone is heard to indicate that the toothbrush is situated properly on the stand to begin charging. Construction feels a bit more solid and sturdy than some of the base models and most everything simply oozes with a little extra refinement that makes it clear you're a more discerning Sonicare user. Admittedly, as others have noted, the included travel case is very minimal with just enough room for the brush and a single brush head; but I actually appreciate the more streamlined form factor...who wants to pack something the size of a middle-school pencil box into an already crowded overnight bag? If you've never used a Sonicare product before, you are in a for a treat--they really DO end up doing most of the work for you. This brush in particular includes a "BrushPacer" feature which helps encourage consistent and even brushing throughout the mouth. The idea is that once you begin a brushing program of a particular length, you divide your mouth into segments (for example, upper left/right/front and lower left/right/front) and the toothbrush momentarily pauses the motor/vibrations to indicate when you should move the brush head to the next segment in your mouth. When you've covered all sections, the toothbrush turns off automatically. You can also create and monitor custom brushing programs from the Sonicare companion smartphone app which includes visual indicators of where you should be brushing and duration of coverage, as well as offering you displays and assessments of overall oral hygiene habits, brushing reminders and atta-boys, and a host of other tips and how-to videos. Fortunately, the app is not required to get what you need from the 9000 SE, but for those of you with exacting concerns for your oral health, it's definitely a nice way to monitor your efforts and progress over time. There are four brushing programs of varying intensities and session lengths that offer optimized care to enhance plaque removal, plaque and stain removal, or plaque removal and gum massage. Along with manually selecting the program of your choice, you can vary each program's intensity level between low, medium, and high on the fly using a second selection button on the handle. The 9000 SE also supports BrushSync which automatically selects the optimal brushing program and duration/intensity simply based on the type of brush head attached to the top of the toothbrush. Special microchip-enabled brush heads are required for this particular feature and Philips offers a range of heads for purchase separately; this brush comes with a color-matched C3 head which is supposedly optimized for "premium plaque control." Oh, and as an added benefit of using one of the BrushSync heads, the 9000 SE will also give you a reminder when it's time to change brush heads with a small reminder LED that illuminates at the bottom of the handle. This replacement reminder is more than just time-based--supposedly, the handle tracks duration of use along with pressure recordings from each brushing session to suggest an optimal replacement schedule. I don't know how well this works over just visual inspection of brush head wear (my wife usually uses her brush heads until the bristles fall out), but it's definitely another feature that lends to the overall premium oral healthcare experience provided by the 9000 SE. Granted, I was a bit skeptical at first as to whether these brushing programs really offered anything MORE than Sonicare's more modest offerings as two of our other Sonicare brushes offer multiple brushing programs as well. But both my wife and I found that you can indeed FEEL the difference on your teeth and gums (in a good way) after using one of the new brushing programs. My wife in particular, whose gums and teeth more more sensitive than mine, thought her teeth felt appreciably cleaner than they ever had using her previous Sonicare toothbrush. For the record, we used a new C3 brush head on our other toothbrushes to make sure we were making apples to apples comparisons. Sure...there are still a few places where things could be a bit better. For example, the program selection and intensity selection buttons are both the same size and actuate with the exact same minimal level of force; depending on how tightly you grip the toothbrush, it can be relatively easy to accidentally press one of the buttons mid-program (or confuse one for the other) and inadvertently increase/decrease brushing intensity or change/interrupt the brushing program itself. The BrushPacer feature is also a very useful reminder to move on to the next portion of your mouth while brushing, but the vibration pause is very quick and sometimes almost imperceptible; a soft beep or maybe a pause with two quick pulses to make the transition point more obvious would be appreciated. There is also a pressure warning LED that lights up if you are pressing on your teeth too hard with the brush head. I tried to activate it during my own brushing routine to see how the sensor worked, but it didn't light up until I was using enough force to start bending the brush head stem itself--nice to know it worked, but I don't know how often the average person would be pressing down THAT hard. The warning light itself is also on the inside of the handle so it's not visible in a mirror, and it's located at the very bottom of the toothbrush so you aren't likely to see the warning LED anyway because it would be blocked by your hand while holding the toothbrush. Finally, the charging base, while handsome, is somewhat ungainly, especially for travel. The travel chargers for lower-end Sonicare brushes are single, integrated units that keep the brush in place with a small peg that adds stability while the brush is standing/charging upright. The charger base for the 9000 SE comes in two parts; the actual charger itself, which is the same one used for the MUCH pricier Sonicare offerings that come with the charging glass attachment; and a transparent plastic charger stand that nestles on top of the charging base to keep the toothbrush upright while recharging. Although this allows you to upscale your charger to use the even fancier rinsing glass attachment at some point down the road if you want to, traveling with this charger as provided means you have to keep track of the charging base AND the plastic stand attachment. And if you happen to lose track of that small plastic stand attachment, the toothbrush simply will NOT stand up in what remains of the charger base and therefore becomes impossible to charge. These are minor issues to be sure and don't necessarily detract from the primary oral healthcare experience that the 9000 SE provides; and upgrades to the case or charger accessories in particular *are* available but come bundled with other Sonicare toothbrushes that command an even higher price. For the asking price, the Sonicare 9000 SE strikes a very nice balance between form and function and is definitely recommended if you are looking for a more flexible and premium toothbrushing experience.

Included- handle, brush head, charging stand and base, travel case The Philips Sonicare 9000 is their latest and greatest version of what Sonicare does best. I've owned a few Sonicares and I believe they are the best. It does most of the work for you so brushing is easy and thorough. The blue/black design I have is beautiful. The ombre effect from top to bottom is a dark navy blue to a rich blue. It's dark and moody and very attractive. The charging base is a dark bronze. The updated charging glass is actually a plastic stand with a low profile. The travel case is a basic black plastic case with just enough room for the handle and head. It is not a charging case like some have included. The case is the least impressive out of everything because it feels cheap. The Sonicare 9000 has three intensities- low, medium, high and four different settings- Clean, White, Gum health, and deep clean. It's also equipped with smart sensors to give you feedback on the Sonicare app. There is a pressure sensor to help protect your teeth and gums, a BrushPacer with an interval timer to help brush evenly, a timer that lets you know when the cycle is done, and a brush head replacement reminder that tracks the wear of the brush head. The Philips Sonicare is the only toothbrush I will ever use and this 9000 Special Edition is great. I know they're expensive but a great investment. It will always leave your teeth shiny and clean.

I do not use the mobile application, so cannot speak for its features. However, the toothbrush is excellent, making my mouth feel cleaner after using. I really appreciate the quad, pacer technology, which allows me to time myself and be sure that I am getting the proper amount of brushing in per side. I just wish I had an USB-C charger instead of a dedicated wall outlet, but that's minor.

There is no question that this does a great job cleaning, but it is so powerful that it overstimulates my mouth with vibrations. I use it once daily, but it they lowered the power some I might use it more frequently. It has a nice travel case. I bought it on sale for 1/2 price. It has pretty good quality and it is solid.

The Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush is an outstanding product that provides a deep and thorough cleaning experience. The brush head's unique design and high-frequency vibrations help remove plaque and stains, leaving your teeth feeling fresh and clean. The toothbrush also has multiple cleaning modes and intensity settings, so you can customize your brushing experience to your liking. The battery life is impressive, and the brush's sleek design makes it easy to hold and maneuver. Overall, I would highly recommend the Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush to anyone looking for a top-of-the-line dental care product.
