Great AMP but...

I purchased this AMP to compliment my new Martin logan setup and its an excellent amp and a very capable one. My only problem is that the airplay feature on the amp is not up to the mark yet, the signal gets dropped every now and then which means the playback of the music stops, yeah all the purists will say use a cable which gets the best audio sound but this is 2015 and I like to be wireless some times ? I even did the software update but that actually made it worse, now the only thing I can do is wait for another software update by Pioneer. I didn't return it as the AMP other wise is impeccable and I know this is a software bug which is causing the airplay support to not work properly.
And thats why this AMP does not deserve a 5.

Quickest setup ever based on wifi connection and simple to use technology. The sound is great and there's even an app to control the receiver with major tweaking ability.

Only 3 of 7 HDMI inputs HDCP 2.2 compliant

I read all the reviews and specifications for this receiver before purchasing and it is represented that all 7 HDMI inputs are HDCP 2.2 compliant which is now a standard for much UltraHD (4K) equipment to work. As it turns out only 3 out of 7 inputs are HDCP 2.2 compliant. Now this may not be a problem for you since currently most people do not have more than one or two 4K inputs, but this will change in the near future. For instance, I currently have a 4K media player, a 4K DirecTV receiver, and plan on purchasing a 4K Ultra HD bluray player when they come out in coming months; therefore there is NO room for any additional 4K equipment. Additionally this receiver does not have Pre-amp outputs for all channels which limits those who have powered front speakers or surround speakers. Again however, I think the marketing for this receiver is misleading at the least (see photo of front of receiver indicating HDMI inputs are HDCP 2.2 compliant.

Bought this product for a large room (20' x 20') and was concerned it may not be enough power to fill it sufficiently. I was wrong. The sound was full, and the purity of the sound was impressive after running the MCACC system. Normally after running similar systems from different brands, (Denon, Yamaha, Onkyo) I make minor adjustments, but this made everything perfect. It was also nice to find Dolby Atmos on a receiver at this price point. I'm very impressed.

This receiver is for the true audiophile. Anyway you like your music or movies, you can hear it with this receiver. There are dozens of settings that allow you to fine-tune your listening experience for the media you're listening to and your personal tastes. Pioneer Elite has always been a trustworthy name in high end audio and this receiver does not disappoint. Classy outward appearance and unbelievable sound quality and expandability. If you want to hear your music or home theater like never before, the VSX-90 is for you.

Great sound; twist in setting up second zone

This receiver replaced an Integra DTR5.8 purchased in 2008. The sound quality is better and it seems to push more power to the surround speakers. The receiver includes Internet Radio, and the ability to push both analog and digital signals to a second zone, both of which were not available on my Integra.
Set up for most functions was pretty straightforward, but configuring the second zone took way to much time. It's not that it is hard; it is just that the directions are not clear. So there was a lot of experimentation before I was able to get it correct. The HDZ and Z2 designations were a significant issue; I needed to wrap my head around the difference between zone B speakers and HDZone. It took me a while to figure out that I do not connect my zone 2 speakers into the "B" speaker area, but in the HDZone area which is also called the 7.2ch area.
Overall, very happy with the receiver, particularly as my sleep deprived nights blur in my memory.

Still learning what it CAN do. It's very HDMI capable, and setting up speaker placement with provided microphone was simple enough. iPhone app works fairly well. What it CAN'T do is allow me to use most of my older (but still nice) equipment because of its lack of component or composite connections. It has but one input and no outputs for this type of equipment. Shame on Pioneer. Some of us geezers still own a turntable as an example. The 5 stars was generous.

I matched this receiver with the Def Tech 600 series speaker set and.. Wow!!! With a 4k Ultra HD tv I was able to connect everything thru the receiver and out to the tv. It was a little timely getting everything hooked up and set up but well worth it! With Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4k pass-through, and being able to control the whole system from a cool app on my iPad and my iPhone is definitely a plus! You won't be disappointed! And, at the sale price of $399 ($699 Retail) it was a "no-brainer!" I did the wiring, install, and set up myself (see pics).

I am totally satisfied with the performance of the receiver. Its ability to handle Internet music, and multi-zones is strong. However, it took me hours to set up through trial and error the multi-zone capabilities. It's not intuitive, and the user manual really doesn't help. The app is a nice touch.
Overall, though, the system has been working for several weeks now flawlessly, and my set-up pains have all but disappeared. Robust sound. Does not have HD radio, which would have been nice.

Had it for about 2 months. I plugged a flash drive into it with some mp3's and used the remote to navigate through the folders and play the music with no problems. Upgraded from an older Pioneer receiver because of the new 4K television. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it lacks all the inputs I need for my entire setup - not enough RCA inputs for my older equipment. I knew this going in, however, and didn't want to pay the extra $$$ for more inputs. I will continue to use the older receiver with the older components in another room.

In reading other reviews on this site, I saw a lot of complaints about set-up, so I was prepared for a real struggle. I don't really see what they were complaining about. Set-up went fairly quickly, and everything worked the first time. The sound quality is excellent, and the receiver can adapt to a wide variety of speaker configurations. The remote was an unexpected bonus, as it can be programmed to control other components of your system, and specific buttons can be re-assigned for frequently used operations. This receiver is *packed* with features, so, yes, it takes a while to learn to operate properly. However, most of the answers to my questions were contained in the user manual, which is provided on a CD. My only real complaint is that the pages of the CD loaded very slowly, and it was impossible to scroll from page to page quickly. This product is probably not suited for someone who is setting up their first home entertainment system, but anyone with experience should be able to handle it.

I looked around for a receiver that would have 4k capability with my Sony 4k 55 inch tv. Sony for some reason just hasn't caught on the band wagon fast enough with their receivers only having one input for 4k. I wanted to buy something i would not need to upgrade in a year or two. i picked this pioneer receiver that has 3 4k inputs for the 4k 2.2 protection. i'm all set for future 4k devices. it also has great sound with dolby atmos and the onscreen display. also has wifi and bluetooh. loving this receiver. i paired it up with the powered pioneer subwoofer and it blows the house down!

I bought this receiver on a whim when I went to get a new tv. I wanted to replace my Denon with an atmos receiver. It was on sale for $499. The setup was super easy although the app isn't the greatest to use but SO MUCH better than trying to enter information from the on screen menu with the remote. The Bluetooth and wifi are the best parts. I use AirPlay often so I love that feature. You can control the entire receiver from your smartphone with the app. I'm disappointed after learning that now that I'm a few days outside my return period that it is not DTS:X upgrade able. Still the receiver is great and works well
