I purchased this unit after some research. For my needs it works. The unit is in my master bed room. I don't have a need for 7.1 configuration. Now it's not the easiest to set up and has a bit of a learning curve. The interface isn't supper attractive but won't see it much and can be a bit slow. Regardless of the negatives the pros outweigh the cons.

I finally caught up with the time with this receiver. Streaming my tunes through it rocks and controlling it through my iPhone (when the Pioneer program works!) is even better. TV and movies now have sounds I couldn’t hear without it and so much audio depth I can’t believe I waited so long to join the modern world.

I came from an Integra receiver costing about 2k that only supported 1080p so after purchasing a 3d 4k TV I wanted to make sure my input source supported the new 4k resolution. I did not want to go overboard being that I am still only using 5.1 surround. I was immediately happy with the weight and heat output of the unit. It runs much cooler than the overly powerful Integra unit. I was also very pleased at the sound quality through my preexisting speaker system. With no additional speaker calibration, the sound was already more accurate than my previous unit. No more (can't hear the voice) complaints from my wife. It seems to drive the speakers beautifully, actually more efficiently than my overpowered integra unit. This is great for a modest home theater system, I might go for the 7.1 model if I choose to build a real theater in my new house but I have to say, this is a great purchase. After going with Pioneer Elite, I am probably going to be a customer for a while.

Bought this Black Friday after hours of research and ready many reviews.
This is perfect for what I needed, giving me ample power. Watching a movie at home now makes it feel like we are in the theater. Set up was fairly simple, with plenty of hdmi connections. Very pleased with my purchase, at a great price.

I bought a new 4k Samsung 75" TV also from BB. My audio and home theater equipment had not been upgraded in 15 years, so I needed HDMI compatibility. I am piecing together speakers as well. This Pioneer Elite receiver was a great price and had been reviewed well. It has so far been an excellent addition.

I like this receiver. I picked it up for $250 around Black Friday. I'm using it to power a 5.1 (soon to be 5.2). I've got two of the Dayton 12" subs on the way. Currently using my old HTiB sub with 4 Pioneer FS52's and the matching center. I have a small room, open on one side and tile floor. The sound for music is perfect at -20db. TV even sounds good (meaning reasonably loud) at -25db. But of course this is just using the front L and R. When using 5.1 I have to turn it up to -15db or even -10db. Still fine but keep in mind the small room with tile floor. For a small HT set-up with a powered sub (or two) this will do just fine. I would not use this if I was trying to power a med/large home theater room or if I had a huge living room. But the power works for me and there are a ton of features. Well built. Front lights aren't annoyingly bright. Calibrates speakers. Recommended.

I picked this up during the holidays for $250, so my enthusiasm comes with that great bargain price. It's a nice looking receiver and the lights on the front are sharp and easy to read. Setup is pretty easy, though not exactly intuitive. I do manual setup for my gear, but you can use the included mic for auto-setting speakers. The OSD menu is helpful, but not a great layout or intuitive to navigate. The iOS app that you can connect to the receiver with is good, but it too is just oddly laid out. I get reasonable control, 6 HDMI inputs and 4k upscaling and the latest 4k HDCP compliance. Overall, a killer value and a very good receiver.

Product was better than expected. Can be run wireless for wi-fi and you download an app to your tablet and sit on the couch and go to work. Even has an app to control the receiver which is easier to use than the remote. Allows you to set the balance and all kinds of things. Lots of extras such as internet radio, pandora, spotify and many more.

This receiver was a breeze to set up. It looks great (which is important) and sounds even better. You may be able to find something better and more powerful, but at its price point I doubt it. A great AV receiver!

Recently purchased - I brought it home, set it up, plugged in the speakers and viola!! It works great even without all the detailed programming. I would definitely recommend using banana plugs for the speaker wires - so much easier to work with. And yes, I highly recommend this unit for your home theater.

All of the punch needed, and excellent sound quality. It was easy to set up, and it is a HUGE improvement over our older Yamaha unit. The mobile app, is a plus.
