I purchased this from BB a few weeks ago. Set it up and it does have a nice sound-except the blue tooth did not work. Also wasn't sure if the sub woofer was working properly. I went to the Pioneer website and found that they had posted problems with this particular model and gave a phone number to call. I liked the unit so I began trying to contact the company. Left message, hung up after long wait and sent e-mails ,after several failed attempts to contact company I finally got through (after a long hold of course). They did concede that there were problems with this unit and that it would have to be sent in to Pioneer and they would pay the postage both ways-but that I would have to take it to the nearest Fed Ex office. I ended up taking this back to BB-I figured that if they had such a widespread problem with the unit, why did it get past quality control, also unit was too heavy to transport to Fed Ex. It is too bad, because it did have a good sound and looked nice.

    Lives up to quality expectations

I have had this soundbar four months. First to address some of the earlier reviews: The reported Bluetooth problems are no longer a problem. Bluetooth works flawlessly but you do need to remember that the sound bar can only be connected to one Bluetooth device at a time so turn off the Bluetooth after use or keep it out of range if you will be using other Bluetooth devices with the speaker. If your device pairs but won't connect, this could be the problem. Professional reviews on sound quality are the best source to evaluate sound quality but my nonprofessional ear appreciates the tonal clarity. The three sound presets are excellent: voice, movie, music. The voice preset turns off the subwoofer so dialog is not obscured by background music/noise. Many reviewers have criticized the small remote. I love it. I really appreciate the feature that allows the subwoofer volume to be adjusted independently of the soundbar volume. I bought the soundbar primarily for my TV but in reality I use it much more for music. Criticism of the included instructions are correct: They are way too skimpy, and in the case of my soundbar incorrect in as much as they say the light on the back of the soundbar will blink blue when pairing with the subwoofer when in fact it blinks red. Still setup is mainly plugging in the soundbar, placing and plugging in the subwoofer and pairing, and connecting the optic cable to the TV. I have another soundbar that cost in excess of $1000.00 but the Pioneer is superior in sound quality.

    Plenty of bass

I placed this soundbar in my great room which has 20 foot ceilings. I was worried about the bass being able to fill the room. No worries here, that sub has some major boom and tucks away quite nicely. My wife asked me to turn it down, so it officially passed the test. I also like being able to change the volume of the sub. Some movies/shows just sound better with lots of bass. The remote control also has 3 viewing modes that can be used when you don't need bass, eg. watching the news. My only complaint is that from time to time I can hear the sub generating bass during the dialogue of a show/movie. However I can easily fix that by turning down the bass just a touch. The bluetooth connected immediately and I have had no problems. Overall, I think this soundbar has plenty of power and provides an enormous improvement over the sound that cames from my flat screen TV. This soundbar generates similar sound quality to competitors that were twice as much. Great value, great sound, thumbs up!

I researched sound bars on cnet.com and they all pointed to this bad boy for sound quality, depth of tone and economy. I have to admit, they nailed it. The subwoofer adds alot of bottom to the sound, but the bar throws sound throughout our space incredibly. Remember, this is not surround sound, but for our space, it works perfectly and I don't have a ton of wires to conceal. The only issue I have had so far is trying to pair the sound bar with our phones or tablets. No luck at this point...

    Excellent Sound Bar

Search hard for a sound bar and found this to be the best of them all include Bose when considering cost. I compared this to $700 Energy Elite Soundbar and found the pioneer to be superior in sound and quality. I am a big energy speaker fan and love my pioneer 5.1 receiver. I looked up all the reviews and rely on cnet for and cnet reviews score this speaker as excellent. No problem with Bluetooth. Either reboot phone or turn off and on sound bar and Bluetooth works. I was concerned with the small subwoofer. When I took the sub out of the box I was a little concern because of its size, but once music started playing sub and sound bar was fantastic. I have the sub hidden in one of my rooms on the opposite side of the bar and the sound is out of this world. Now my 5.1 speaker system in another room is superior, but the sound bar is just right for the room I need it for. I recommend this sound bar. Don't get sucked in the big boom from other subs, the pioneer sub has a very smooth sound especially at low volume. Don't compare it to 5.1

    "Disposable" electronics

I got this as a simple way to enhance the sound for a non-primary flat screen TV and use for occasional blue tooth music streaming. While the sound was okay (definite improvement over built-in) it is not up to par with a stand-alone AV unit. Worse, the all-on-one design is not particularly robust or economic. My unit just "died" in the middle of the morning news talking-heads just past the 1-year manufacture warranty. It had less than 50 hours of use time, has never been listened too on loud settings, and is plugged into a very robust surge protector. It just dropped out. The problem is very clearly a main power supply/feed issue as no lights come on. When I looked into having the unit repaired I learned that it is not considered (by Pioneer) to be field-serviceable so you cannot take it into an Pioneer repair shop. There is an option to send the unit it and pay $80 to have them tell you "it doesn't power on", but the manufacture considers the product a disposable electronic appliance, so you probably should too. If you're okay dropping this sort of money for 50 hour of "better than built-in flat screen" sound, enjoy. I will consider this a learning experience and go back to tried and proven home theatre solutions. (Sadly, Pioneer and Pioneer Elite brands fit into that picture less and less.)

I have this Pioneer sound bar paired with my 60" Vizio and it sounds amazing. The subwoofer blends seamlessly with the sound bar and everything from music to movies sounds fantastic. If you are buying a sound bar for the quality of the sound that it can produce look no further. After shopping sound bars for many months I finally pulled the trigger on this one and I'm glad I did. I even signed up for a Best Buy account just so I could leave this review. Buy one of these and try it out. You'll be glad you did.

    Top Rated Sound Bar!!!

The Pioneer SP-SB23W offers outstanding sound quality for a sound bar, particularly when it comes to the blend between the sub and the main cabinet. Performance is even more impressive considering the size of the tiny wireless subwoofer, which is easy to hide in the room. And there's also built-in Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming. Big and clear sound from a small unit. The Pioneer SP-SB23W is the best affordable sound bar if you care about sound quality, with its outstanding sonics making up for some of its design limitations.

Took a little risk and just got one of these and thought I would write that I have not had any of the known bluetooth problems. I didnt compare too many other soundbars but just bought based on other reviews, cnet etc. and the sound is very good, clear and warm. The manufactured date on mine is 10/14.

I actually bought 2 sound bars on the same exact day from Best Buy. This one from my new 60" in the living room and a Sony for my older 52" that I put in the basement. I set up the sound bar about 4" below the tv, on the wall and put the sub behind the recliner towards the other side of the room. Please keep in mind the reason I went this route was for convenience of not having to deal with 5 diff. sets of speakers and running insane amounts of wires all over my house. I like quality sound as much as the next, but I'm not that committed. I give it like 4.5 out of 5 stars. Draw backs: Not surround sound and only 2.1, but if you're a basic entertainer like me that watches a ton of sports, likes to stream music via their phone and watches the occasional movie on their TV then this is a very good choice for the lack of hassle and relatively low cost. Side note: That bluetooth issue, I was told by Pioneer has been recently fixed. I thought I had an issue, but it turns out I just didn't know what I was doing.

I read numerous online reviews and then visited the store to listen to this bar. The display in store was somewhat disappointing but, it was on sale so, i thought it was worth trying. I'm very glad I did. There are 3 sounds modes, movie, music and voice. The in store demo must have been on vocal....very little bass in this mode. the other modes have tremendous sound. The unit is bigger than some others but, that's how you get such great sound.

picked it up on sale and no complaints. only annoying thing really has been the fact that the bluetooth auto-connects to whatever device i have paired with it even if it's not chosen as the source on the unit. this means i don't get audio notifications from my phone.

I bought this soundbar and the Bose CineMate. The Bose was twice as much money and has less features (won't play mp3s from your phone like the Pioneer). The Pioneer sounds just the same (to me). I am returning the Bose.

I purchased this product about 60 days ago, for the first 30 days it worked great. Sound quality was excellent, no complaints when the system is working properly. Then the blue tooth feature stopped working, I tried 3 different devices and all would connect but no sound would come from the speakers. So I started researching the problem, come to find out that this is a known problem at Pioneer. On the Pioneer website, there is a notice posted stating that they are aware of the issue and to contact customer service. So my reason for the 1 star rating comes not so much from the product having an issue as it does from how Best Buy and Pioneer handled the issue when I brought it to their attention. First I tried to return it to Best Buy, explained that the issue wasn't an isolated one and that Pioneer had issued the statement about problems with the product. I was beyond their 15 day return policy so they would not accept it. I understand the return policy, however when a manufacturer issues out a memo that a certain product that is being stocked on Best Buy shelves has a serious problem. Best Buy should either pull the product or change the return policy on that specific product. On to how Pioneer is handling the problem, they are fixing the problem for free so long as you are within the 1 year warranty (which I am), but I have to ship the sound bar to their repair facility at my own expense, the shipping costs between 40 to 50 dollars depending on where you live. So I now have to pay an extra 50 dollars and go without the sound bar for a few weeks. So I issue a buyer beware warning to this product or any product purchased from Best Buy the return policy is very restrictive.

I first purchased my SP-SB23W 1-27-14 . After 10 months it started making clicking/popping noises. I lived with it for a while, then decided that I better use my 1 year warantee. I shipping it to Pioneer on 12/29/14 (at my cost). I got it back a month later. It worked fine for two years. Now it make a pop sound again, turns off, then on again in a different sound mode. I called Pioneer, but they no longer service the soundbar. Now I have a long paperweight.
