I am happy with it!The only downfall is it’s not always quick to connect to Bluetooth. It’s got a good amount of power and it’s pretty easy to use.

Wow... When I bought this unit it was on sale, and it just can't be beat for the price. This is my first "big boy" system, upgrading from a basic 5.1 soundbar setup. After extensive research, I decided to upgrade for the greater decoding capabilities, as my old setup just had DD and DTS 2ch. I found this unit on sale at my local Best Buy for nearly $100 less than the comparable Denon and Onkyo receivers. My "new" setup consists of this receiver with an old 1st Gen. Polk SurroundBar I found in my parents' storage unit. I added new Polk TL2's for the surround back channels and a Polk 11" subwoofer. Everything's running at an 8ohm load. While the left and right surrounds are simulated by the SurroundBar setup, this is where the Pioneer receiver shines. It has breathed new life into this dated SurroundBar. It really packs a wallop, too. While the unit is rated at 80w/ch at 8ohms, this rating says little to nothing about decibel output. The space I have is fairly small, however, so I can't say how it would perform in a larger space. The Dolby Surround and DTS Neural: X upsampling seem to vary by input source, but both sound just awesome coming through the receiver and speakers. The differences between the two definitely seem to say more about the input source and encoding/decoding than about the unit itself. The automatic calibration feature is also great, and makes this unit a great option for first-timers and those who are not particularly tech-savvy. The automatic calibration has required very minimal tweaking, and most people probably wouldn't need to make any adjustments one way or another. Another awesome feature is the built in analog to HDMI up-conversion and 1080p-4K HDMI-HDMI upscaling. The former is especially handy, since I can play all of my retro game consoles on my TV, which has no analog inputs. While the 1080p-4K upsampling from my current generation consoles is subtle, it's certainly noticeable. My bookshelf back surrounds are small enough to position as down-firing speakers for a 5.1.2 Atmos setup, but I haven't had an opportunity to play or watch any titles with native Atmos or DTS:X just yet. All in all this was a great buy, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an upgrade or a first receiver.

I recently bought this receiver when it was on sale for $300 while purchasing a newer TV to go with it. I had recently made the decision to skip out on a sound bar and opt for a receiver with a simple 2.1 setup. With only needing a 2.1 setup, obviously I didn't need much out of a receiver. I was going to go with a simple 5.1 Denon, but I saw this receiver was on sale for less so I figured, why not? This was probably the best decision I made. This receiver has completely blown away my expectations for it. All HDMI ports are able to handle 4K HDR and HDCP 2.2 content, so no sacrifice there (other than 4 HDMI In ports, which, to some people may need to be a sacrifice), and the HDMI Out is able to do ARC flawlessly. Have had no issues with ARC ever since I've got this thing up and running. I thought a nice touch on this receiver was the Phono input, which is great because it means I no longer have to use a preamp with my turntable, bonus points!. I'd have to say the absolute highlight of this receiver that has blown my expectations the most is the fact that it does AirPlay. I can pick a song on my phone and tell it to stream to the receiver. 2 seconds later it's playing out of my audio setup. It may sound simple, but it's really cool! And also great because now I no longer need to move my bluetooth speaker from room to room and can just keep it in one place. In all honesty, this receiver has done a tremendous job at bringing all of my living room pieces together. I like to think of the TV as the President, the figurehead of the entertainment setup. But then this receiver is the Chief of Staff, the guy in the background that's doing all the grunt work you throw at it and making sure everything works smoothly. I can't recommend this receiver enough, well done Pioneer.

I love this receiver. Pioneer is a great company and they take a lot of pride in the quality of their components. I'm still using this receiver to this day and I love it does everything I needed to do and more. When I sync to my streaming service or my Chromecast it automatically switches to the correct channel without me having to do anything. Very good addition to my smart home.

Sony - 1015W 7.2-Ch. 4K Ultra HD and 3D Pass-Through A/V Home Theater Receiver is better in my opinion and half the price. The connection is instant practically on the Sony. The pioneer can take up to a minute to load. With my galaxy phone I can click connect and play on my music then it's turned on and playing in seconds for the sony. Now with the pioneer it can take up to a minute. The sound quality is the same as far as I can tell. The pioneer rarely used features in addition. I would go with the sony.
