I was shopping for a receiver that could support Dolby Atmos and DTS:X audio, various music streaming services, Google Cast, and bluetooth. This receiver does all of that and does a great job. It's set up for 5.1.2 for Dolby Atmos/DTS:X audio and the sound quality great. It does all of this for under $500. Pros: -Price/value -Great sound quality -Supports all the major music streaming servies -bluetooth support -Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support Cons: For Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, this receiver only supports 2 height speakers, and not the better 4 height speakers.

Love this new receiver. Although the low end of the Elite line this receiver is very powerful, sounds awesome and is much easier to use than older Elite models. I love great sound when watching TV and movies and this receiver provides. Easy to set up and easy to balance in my odd shaped set up. I have it hooked up to the Klipsch Quintet 5.0 speakers with and Klipsch wirless RW-10 sub. Great sound for my small room.

I needed a upgraded receiver due to my Xbox One S making crackling noises during 4K gaming using my yahama. This unit gets hot under pressure but will not let you down as far as power is concerned. I have 4 Bose shelf speakers 2 Bose redline speakers and a VCS-10 Bose center speaker hooked to it and it's a powerhouse. Absolutely no issues here. Hopefully the neighbors will be complaining for the next few years.

I am happy with purchase of this receiver. I was not able to use my Pioneer receiver that I have had for 20 years because it could not have the correct interfaces (HDMI, USB, etc.) used by newer electronics. There are not enough inputs for even 2 or 3 for legacy pioneer stereo components. The receiver works perfectly with my 4K TV and 4K Blu-ray and the receiver products excellent sound from my speakers for both CD and MP3 from my Media server.

What a great receiver! I have used Sony receivers in the past with great luck, so using a different brand was a little worrisome for me, but I am very happy that I did. This receiver is so much better then my Sony. I even had a brief thought of replacing my Sony up in the living room, but I will wait until it dies someday. Over all, very easy set-up and use right out of the box.

This is great entry level receiver with bluetooth capabilities. Easy to setup initially however, do not try to update the firmware via Wifi. Make sure you have plugged it via ethernet. Update over wifi stopped in the middle and the device went to an error mode that was difficult to clear. I had to exchange it for a another one and updated via ethernet and it works flawlessly.

I bought this to replace an old receiver that died. It ended up being an open box item that was returned by the sales person I was dealing with because he said he was trying to save some money. The receiver is probably more advanced than I need but the sound quality coming through my speakers on my surround system is great and I like the bluetooth capability.

I am using this stereo primarily for surround and it has more than enough power for my intended purpose. However, I also use it to listen to music. I greatly appreciate the blue tooth, and the ease in which I can connect (wireless) to my stereo and listen to music from any app or playlist on my phone or computer, etc. Super easy to use and was well worth the price.

After looking through so many receivers and reading different reviews, I decided to buy the Pioneer Lx101. Its a powerful, full featured receiver. If you are on the fence about buying a receiver that will last you many more years to come, I would definitely recommend this. It has dual band WiFi support, Bluetooth for music streaming, a front USB and aux port, and future support for google cast (stream video or tabs from your phone or laptops chrome browser) and DTSx. What makes this future proof is that it supports HDR for new 4k TVs, it up scales 1080p resolution to 4k, supports Dolby atmos, dtsx, google cast, and has other apps you can stream music from. Music and sound in general sounds crystal clear, I have no complaints at all. Can't test the 4k image upscale because I do not own a 4k TV.

System has all current features required for a 4k tv. System provides excellent sound for every audio connection. Speaker connections are very easy. Pioneer customer service is very knowledgeable and easy to work with. System has 7 channels if you have 7 speakers. I use 5 because i have 5 speakers. I strongly recommend this system.

I bought two units of this Elite model in Dec.'16 and Jan.'17 to replace my two ailing Onkyo which both had failed video parts. My technician friend told me that there are couple levels of audiophile in the market, consumer grade, of which its components are made of fair quality and the professional grade, its components are of heavy duty quality. I want to try this entry level of Pioneer Elite receiver which I have never owned them before. Found out that sound is crisp and clear after tuning its manual EQ. This unit is in one of my room which is small. The other is in bigger room, the auto sound calibration made a good job. Two main features, apart from ARC TV , the music server and Chromecast built-in for music which I use very often. With the good quality of sources of music files, this Elite produces a wonderful and decent sound (I can hear both low and high pitch clearly). It would be 5 stars if the physical remote control had a function to control TV , though the Pioneer Remote app does this job, but I sometimes prefer to use remote to the app. Overall this VSX-LX101 is one the decent Elite receiver family that the enthusiasts should try.

Had a 4K TV for 18 months and finally decided to get the most out of my home system by upgrading my receiver. Salesman pointed me to this model since I have a simple 6 speaker setup and best high-end receiver for the money to get my 4K throughput. Upgraded my XBOX ONE and wow.. 4K better than expected!

Easy set up. Integrates well with my Sony 930 HD TV. Plenty of power and features. Like the fact that it uses finger twist knobs instead of the cheaper springs even for the surround speakers. Trouble is the opening doesn't allow for the larger banana plugs. This is the only negative so far.

The focus on receivers today bend more towards selling you a computer product than high fidelity. Sure, you get good sound from this product, but the computerized functions, such as connecting to the NET for Chromecast, Pandora, or other online streaming is where the industry is going. Not saying that this is bad, but convenience appears to be more important than other factors. Now, after saying that, the time for the receiver to "wake up" when turning on and switching to different functions is a little slow. My other complaints include the lack of input/output functionality for legacy products, such as RCA inputs, optical inputs, and composite video. That should not be a problem for anyone that does not plan on connecting a bunch of old tape decks, etc. Most people won't need that, since HDMI is the modern way to go. And since HDMI has ARC (audio return channel), connecting one TV meets most everyone's requirements. There is one optical input, so it is not that bad. The sound is crystal clear and distortion is low enough that it won't be noticed by most people and can only be detected with professional measuring equipment. For large rooms and theaters, this is not the receiver for you because you might want a little more power, but for most home living rooms or even family rooms, it is adequate, especially if you have one or two subwoofers and most of the power is handled by them. You may hear some clicking noise during normal operations of this product. That is normal due to the internal relays that connect/configure the speakers appropriately for the different surround sound desired that is matched to the source. And if your source changes or if there is a "ripple" in the source, a clicking may be heard during the transition. The physical appearance of the receiver looks nice, and the "Elite" labeling helps with the ego ;-) The Pioneer app for iPad, iPhone, or Android is really cool and if you get the receiver, download this app because it is fun to play with. If you can dedicate an old device to use as your remote - even better! You will have a SUPER REMOTE. I have always wanted a "Pioneer Elite" receiver since my younger days and now I have finally got one. It is not the audio "tanks" that they use to build, with all discrete components, but the times have changed, and to keep with the times, so has their product. I don't mind the convenience. The distortion is still less than their old non-elite receivers that I may crank up from time to time to bring me down memory lane. This will probably go side-by-side with that one in my study room, as I look for a more heavy duty box for my theater, that is fairly large and so needs a little more heft.

I bought this receiver to replace a Pioneer Elite VSX-43 receiver that was no longer working after Lightning struck a tree beside our house. Hated to have to replace a 3 year old receiver. After reading online reviews of other popular receivers, I decided to stick with what I knew and had really liked. I am so glad I did. This new VSX-LX101 was very easy to setup and I am loving the sound I hear. Dont like the new remote as well as the other one but overall I am very happy with my purchase.
