This receiver delivers loud and powerful sound. It has pre outs for a subwoofer and a pair of height speakers. Thus, it can be set up as a 7.1 surround system instead of 5.1 if you have another receiver laying around for the height speakers. The overall sound is decent with lots of settings to play around. I used the MCACC sound calibration and it found my speaker distance and placement in my rooms. It then calibrate the sound stage or loudness coming out from each of my speakers. However, I didn't like it as the volume is extremely low after the calibration. Therefore, I manually calibrated the sound myself and the sound became loud and clear. One thing I don't like about this receiver is the remote. It is an universal remote where you can set it to control multiple devices with it like, dvd player, tv, bd player, and cd player. I had a hard time programming it to control my tv and other devices. It works one day and then it doesn't work the next day. It takes a few tries to do the programming as well.
