Not the best of the 5 pirate movies, plus it's missing the original cast members with the exception of Johnny Depp. As valuable to the series as Johnny Depp is, he alone cannot carry this film to the perfection we have seen in volumes 1, 2, 3 and, in my opinion, the best of the series, equal to "The Curse of the Black Pearl", is the fifth entry "Dead Men Tell No Tales"! Despite my disappointment in #4, buckle-on your boots, belt-on your cutlass, give a rousing ...yo, ho, ho, me hearties and board your ship realizing that only one disappointment out of 5 great movies is a pirate-story-loving-fan's bounty.....Enjoy, as I finally did, by rationalizing my purchase at Best Buy's excellent pricing....WAS NOT a disappointment!

Nine times out of ten, if I've purchase a movie on Blu-ray these days it's because I'm more interested in seeing the extra content and possibly "behind the scenes." Otherwise I'd just watch it on any number of streaming services. So although I love this movie I cannot recommend this Blu-ray version because ALL of the behind the scenes content is tied to a gimmicky Disney app that no longer exists. I was really looking forward to seeing all of the extra material only to find out, after I'd purchased the Blu-ray, that all of the "extra content" advertised could no longer be accessed period because the app needed to view the content was discontinued.

Movie was enjoyable in terms of action and a fairly decent plot line. More enjoyable if one has seen the previous POC movies so as to be able to understand the main characters (Sparrow, Barbossa, Gibbs) more fully in context of this film. Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz both added flair to the picture, although in the case of the former it was a one time deal. The situation for Cruz allows for her to show up again in another POC storyline permitting (as does the fate of the preacher and the little mermaid). There were some loose ends in the plot (i.e. how did the Spanish show up at the Fountain of Youth, from where did the mermaid evolve, etc.) but all-in-all a fun movie to watch.

As the years seperate the first few Pirates films from pop cultures recent memory, On Stranger Tides takes on a singular quality that makes it feel more like an installment a la Indiana Jones or James Bond movies and less like a fourth wheel in a trilogy. Add in Johnny Depp's indelible Jack Sparrow, Geoffery Rush's delightful Hector Barbossa, with inspired performances from newcomers Penelope Cruz and Ian McShane, and you have yourself an entertaining adventure film that fits right in with other Pirates of the Caribbean outings.

Movie was enjoyablebut the 3D effects were not very good. I have seen the original DVD. The 3D is not worth the extra cost.

I think that "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" was once again one of the greatest Disney films of all-time and it was also one of my favorite films of all-time. I have seen and enjoyed all of the films in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film series several times and I also think that "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" had a lot of entertaining and enjoyable action, mystery and suspense and a really great and amazing cast and personal storylines.

Though I had movies 1-3 of the Pirates of the Caribbean, which I enjoyed, I found the fourth to be less than the rating it was given.

I highly recommend best buy for ordering your blu rays. I am a collector and want that slipcover and for it to be in good condition. If the slip is still made available then you are way more likely to get it ordering from best buy than other retailers. This film did not have the slip because it is an older release but I still order BB over the other retailers because if there was one then they would send it to you.

I only bought it to complete my collection. But after giving it another chance, it's actually pretty enjoyable. Really stands on its own outside the original trilogy. It reigns in the chaos that plagued the 2nd and 3rd movies and tells a more intimate story. Blackbeard is no Davy Jones or Barbossa, but he does a fine job at being our villain. The only thing I miss is The Black Pearl. Would have been cool to see her take on The Queen Anne's Revenge.

A few quick things first: no this movie is not as good as the first, yes its an improvement over At World's End, and yes its a decent/good movie. It also helps that some of the "fat" was cut from the movie to trim down the run time in comparison to At World's End. Jack Spearow is still a great character as ever. Overall if I'd have to give it a more precise score, I'd give it somewhere around 3.5 stars out of 5.
