Just an amazing, amazing series. The visuals alone are gorgeous, often mesmerizing, and sometimes hard to believe. Planet Earth deserves all the acclaim it's gotten. I still haven't watched even half of it yet! This blu-ray package seems to have everything anybody could want, with the original narrator, the super cool making-of features, and an option to play it without the narration if you just want to watch (and listen to the excellent soundtrack).

I've been a fan of Planet Earth since it first aired on the BBC. I owned a dvd copy, then a blu ray. When I was online to buy the blu ray for season two, I noticed a great price on the original Planet Earth. This version has bonus content which I had never seen before. Now I'm glad that my original was stolen, it gave me an excuse to upgrade to this version!

I remember purchasing this years ago when Blu-ray was first adopted, and my jaw was left on the ground. Nothing has changed, and with this Special Edition you get a ton of bonus content. Now, having said that....the bonus content is on DVD and I'm not sure of the resolution but it isn't HD, so that's a negative. Doubly so since this may be a re-buy or double dip for a lot of people. Keep that in mind. If you have NEVER watched or owned this...please buy this. It is on sale for $14.99 and worth every penny.

This was a great buy for this remastered BlueRay set of BBC programs. The set includes the entire original programs plus a set of video diaries that explain what the photographers and videographers had to go through to get these incredible videos. This set takes nature videos to a level unmatched by anything other than the newest Planet Earth II releases. If you like or enjoy these type of videos don't miss this set. It's worth buying a BlueRay player if you don't already have one.

I bought this set after watching Planet Earth 2 on 4K Blu-ray. I've never been much for nature documentaries - I only bought Planet Earth 2 because I heard it looked really great in 4K, but this series is overall is captivating in a way I didn't imagine. Of course the original on Blu-ray doesn't look as good as Planet Earth 2 on 4K, but that's not why I'm watching anymore. These really do give you a window into other worlds - well, still ours, but you know what I mean.

This DVD set is about ten years old. I have considered purchasing the set ever since it came out. Being that old, the entire series has been shown on television many times. I suppose I could have recorded them on my DVR, but it is very nice to be able to watch one episode at a time as I find an hour to relax and enjoy it. Now, of course, they are on Blu-ray, making the picture and sound great. However, it is the content that make this set still awesome after all these years!

The images, sound and of course narration are wonderful. The video is incredible and exciting. The drama and wonders of living organisms and interactions within their community and environment are fully captured. Because of this, it may not be suitable for young children; you never know if the prey will survive or not. Even our cat sits and watches; her ears and body posture changing at times. Awesome bargain at $20 and wish I would have purchased a few more for gifts.

Anything David Attenborough is involved in, especially documentaries, is astounding. The cinematography is spectacular & brings you right into its beauty. Mr. Attenborough narrating makes it a plus. Planet Earth as well as his other projects are worth the watch. The younger ones also enjoy the adventure. Would have ordered online but was glad to have found it in store, Best Buy at a great price.

I found this on sale and finally bought this without regret!

I was fortunate to catch this set on sale for $14.99 , I wanted to buy it before but the $80 price tag scared me off. Anyhow , this is an awesome collection to own and share with your fellow documentary buffs. The picture quality and production are second to none, amazing clarity, color and the special features are a nice bonus as well.

I bought this BBC version on sale. Normally around $80, it was $19.99 on sale. I remember watching when it debuted on tv. It was narrated by several different famous people. This version does not have Oprah. But it doesn't matter, it has the same beautiful images. If I can find it on sale again I would like to purchase as a gift. I have several family members that loved it as much as I did.

powerful and beautiful documentary about our planet. Key thing of this version over other versions is that it has David Attenborough narrating and additional bonus features (disk 5 & 6) over the prior 4 disc blu ray. 3 new featurettes and 3 episodes on the future

I absolutely had to buy this blu ray after seeing that it went on sale. For $15 it's an amazing deal for a 6 disc blu ray set. Thr blu ray is so gorgeous with all of the animals that you wil see when watching this set. I love documentary type films and this one captures the beauty of the earth and the beauty of every animal. Buy this you won't regret it.

Planet Earth is a fascinating documentary series that will openyour eyes to just how incredible our planet is from top to bottom. This used to be considered worthy of a showcase demo for the home theater, but the picture quality looks a little dated at this point compared to bluray releases since. It's still worth seeing and owning, regardless.
