Good photography and actually worth the expenditure.

Absolutely a must have for any serious Bluray collector. While it no longer is the must see demo disc and the video has been surpassed, the original Planet Earth release was the gold standard in Bluray's infancy, but was somewhat of a flawed release in that it left out so much material. This newer Special Edition remedies most of those flaws and adds back the Behind the Scenes Diaries, extra commentaries, much improved audio tracks, several great episodes of "Natural World" including the truly spectacular full hour version of the Snow Leopards of which Planet Earth only excerpted. The bonus material just goes on forever it seems. David Attenborough never fails to impress with his entertaining narration, but he never stomps on the material like so many of his imitators. The man earned his stripes and he obviously loves his job. The only possible minor flaw in this release was the the decision to go back to 1080i video as it was originally produced rather than the somewhat flawed fake-1080p of the original release. While there are times where the overall detail is a bit less than the original, this versions improved color saturation, reduced banding, and improved image stability make it overall similar to the 2007 release. The other issue isn't a flaw, but more of a source limitation. This documentary was started in the early days of HD cameras and was pushing the limits of what was available 10 years ago. With extreme environmental light/dark, hot/cold, underwater, and near black cave scenes this strained the limits of what was possible in the early 2000's. Advances in HD technology make this source material ancient in a sense and no doubt could easily be bested with 2013 equipment, but the years and effort that it took to make this series is unlikely to be ever be re-created in any way to improve the overall heart of this material.

This is a must have collection in every family. The more I watch, the more I am more appreciative and grateful of how wonderful and perfect God's creation is. I am amazed of the special connection between nature and various species; they intertwine, live and depend on each other as in perfect harmony. Until...until... human steps in. Where there is human's existence, there is calamity and destruction... Overall, it is truly a wonderful family experience. It is worth the money

This six disc set comes with new special features and split on 6 discs instead of 4 discs with older version. David Attenborough narrates great. The audio is DTS-HD 5.1, a nice upgrade.

It is no accident that I discovered this product demonstrating the capabilites of HDTV and Blu-Ray. The cinematolography ofthis series is amazing. BBC needs to retire Attenborough. His voice is fading; it's hard to understand him at times. But the narrative can be turned off and you can just enjoy the music and pictures.

I had been waiting for a good deal on this Blu-ray Collection. Found it @ Bestbuy. Just use this as a Demo Disc if you wanna showcase your Home Theater Systems / Projector / Entertainment room. You don't have to explain anything. The BD does it all for you... A MUST OWN for anyone who loves good picture and great sound

This set is a must have for every collection. Amazing to revisit, fun to watch, great to show and use as a learning tool for kids. You can't go wrong with the BBC Nature Docus. The set is a great value and just as relevant as ever.

Amazing work, I think nobody else can picturize like this, many of us, we can not afford world tour, but atlease this is affordable and eyes are mesmarized, must see atleast once in a life time

I have been wanting to have a blu ray version of this since I recently bought a uhd 65 inch tv. Its awesome to view them in full spectacular life like pictures. I'm happy that I bought them on sale.

If you love nature, then get it. it's a great documentary.

All the accolades it's received are well earned -- stunning imagery. Just -- stunning. This is an amazing accomplishment. Highly recommended.

The greatest episode is the one where Arctic animals share a little bit of ice!!

Recommend this series to everyone to see how amazing the Earth really is. On a side note, i wish it came with a digital copy.

Planet Earth is a great documentary set, completely worth the money. I would highly recommend this set to anyone.
