Audio should not sound muffled or distorted under normal use, if you're having trouble understanding or being properly heard during voice chat you might want to try reconnecting the microphone to your headset and the headset to the audio source to see if this helps the issue.

I had this headset for about 8 months then the left earmuff audio cut out and has not come back.
