If Sony had included at a minimum the features already present in the PS3, this would have gotten 5 stars, but the shortcomings are going to take years of updates to compensate. No DLNA support, no CD playback or ripping to MP3s, no backwards compatibility for PS3 games, no PS Home, etc. Thus far the game library (including those available on PS Plus) is very limited. Of course this will improve over time, but for now you'll have your PS4 off most of the time waiting for a new game to release. So what did Sony do right to get my 3 star rating....the new controller is really nice. Fits well in the hand and the touchpad shows great promise. The graphics are excellent and gameplay is much smoother compared to similar PS3 titles. The PS4 boots quickly and does automatic update downloads & charges the controller if you leave it in standby mode (console is off, but not completely). The most recent update (1.75) brought 3D Blu-Ray playback to the PS4. So overall it is a good system, but the lack of titles and features we have come to take for granted from other consoles, PCs, laptops, etc. keep it from being a great system. Eventually as the game library grows and the updates trickle out it will be a great system, but it may take a few years to get there. I received it as a gift and do enjoy playing games on it, but I probably would have waited longer to get one if I had been purchasing it for myself.

Graphics are amazing!!! The load times seem to be a bit faster than the PS3 and that is always a plus. Looking forward to some new 1st person shooter games on this amazing system.

The hype was worth it. Great graphics and speed. Setup was easy. I was disappointed in the lack of online playability in some games (COD) between console generations. (i.e. PS3 and PS4), but some games do. Due to the lack of availability of PS4 units at this time, a lot of my friends who don't have one cannot play with me on the PS4. I keep the PS3 hooked up and running for that. Otherwise, nice and quiet so far, fast, and a pleasure to use.

The PS4 has been a good improvement over the PS3. The new controller is comfortable to hold and easy to use. Graphics and performance have obviously been improved. Originally I was not excited about having to buy Playstation Plus to play online, but after getting the free games that comes with it I feel it is already worth the price after only a few months. I'm looking forward to see what Sony will do with the Playstation 4 in the future!

The Playstation 4 system is a next-gen gaming console in the Playstation family. Its performance is very good, and it's a pretty quiet system. It's still early in the console's lifespan, so the game library isn't quite there yet. Still, it is considered to have the better performance on games and its other next-gen competition. The controller battery life is a little on the short side, but you can plug it in and play while it's charging. Running Netflix or Amazon Video works well. It doesn't have a Youtube app yet, but it's supposed to be on the way. When the game library is expanded, I would make an unqualified recommendation. As it is, a purchase of it now is more for looking towards its future.

Terrific console for gaming. My son has the Xbox 1. This PS4's graphics display beats it hands down! Much easier navigation once in the system. Just an overall great experience!

Really like the system purchased and have had lots of fun with friends and family. Would recommend to anyone who wants to experience PlayStation system. Would recommend to friends.

As soon as I unboxed my PS4 I was blown away it looks sleek and runs even sleeker I slapped a 1tb hdd in it before powering it up and the recovery process was extremely simple. afterwards I installed COD Ghost and after many weeks of playing it on PS3 it wasn't even comparable. It was like an entirely new game you could read the small print on a cigarette pack laying on the ground. It feels good to finally have a true gaming machine.

The controller is a massive improvement (arguably the best controller). The system is fast to boot, the OS is speedy and the graphics/gaming are great. It is missing a lot of media center features the PS3 had, but with all of today's technology I never feel like I need it or want it. The system looks great near your TV. Of course, being early in it's life cycle, later on there will be more to come and massive improvements.

I think the ps4 is awesome. It's a powerhouse compared to the ps3 with even more potential soon to come. I really like the design they chose with the console and the controller. The new ui is simple and clean but upgraded from the previous. The only thing missing is the games but this year that's going to change with titles like destiny and watch dogs and infamous coming out to name a few. I'm very satisfied with my purchase.

I've owned several Xbox and Playstation systems over the years. This is by far my favorite so far. The graphics are amazing.

If you are debating weather to get a PS4 or XBox One. I would strongly and def recommend the PS4. It is the best system out there. The graphics the ease of setting it up and playing. The load times are far faster than the XBox One and the online play is awesome. If you need convincing just visit your local Best Buy and compare the 2 systems and you can see for yourself which is the clear cut winner. Best 400 I ever spent.

I never used my PS3 for anything but a blu-ray/3D blu-ray movie player. I was a die-hard Xbox360 fan and bought my son a XboxOne for Christmas. A new high watermark for what I thought a next-gen gaming console should look like and perform. I finally broke down and bought a PS4 on the launch day of Watch_Dogs. All of my expectations were exceeded. The system performed faster, had a better user-interface, and displayed stunning graphics on my 65" 3D Panasonic Plasma. Blu-ray movies loaded much quicker than on my current Samsung 3D blu-ray player. The only two hang-ups were the controller and 3D blu-ray movie support. If using the controller to watch movies, care in how you set the controller down must be taken as the trigger buttons are the FF and REW functions... the trigger button sensitivity is high and can easily activate if you set the controller down too hard or fast. As of the time of this review, the system DOES NOT YET support play-back of 3D blu-ray movies. I can only hope this a feature that will be activated in a later firmware update since the PS4 DOES support 3D gaming playback... Sniper Elite III running is 3D is a truly epic experience.

Graphics, online gaming, dedicated servers, apps work great (netflix & hulu), the ps store seems cleaned up and easier to use as well. I cant wait to see what comes out next.

I've had a PS1, PS2, still have my PS3, and have now added the PS4. Sony makes a great product. Never had a complaint with any of my systems. Graphics are stunning.

Great gaming console. Graphics are incredible and the form factor looks sleek in the entertainment center. The controller feels solid. Best new feature is that you can plug headphones directly into the controller so that my wife doesn't have to listen to gunfire throughout the house when I'm playing games. Destiny is great, but I think the Sony exclusive gaming line-up is going to really take off this fall.

The console is great, but there are concerns. One, the fan will sometimes sound like a hairdryer. I have never had a problem with overheating (the ps4 will shut off if it detects an overheating problem) but mine hasn't done that. Two, the controllers battery life SUCKS. that stupid light drains the battery so fast. Consider buying another controller to combat this problem. Three, the bugs. There seems to be bugs on the system even after updates. Friend chat not working (messages take hours to be seen by me or friends), a stupid "Discover" icon that pops up every time the machine turns on. The games are ok. Not a lot of first party games out at the moment. It seems to be 2016 will be a good year, until then they are riding on BloodBorne and third party success.

The Sony PS4 is so great I hardly get off of it. I have tried out the Xbox one and I must say the PS4 IS HANDS DOWN A LOT BETTER. Highly recommend it. Good luck
