I purchased two of these 512 GB PNY USB-C flash drives for use with my new 16" MacBook Pro. I had high expectations, given 20-some years of experience with PNY flash drives - they have been the most reliable, Apple-compatible, and performant flash drives that I have purchased. In particular, I had high hopes that the new drives would be substantially faster than my current set of 32- to 128 GB PNY USB 3.0 flash drives.
Alas, the new PNY USB-C drives are substantially slower than my older PNY USB 3.0 drives, to the point that I am doing well to get 250-300 MB/minute sustained transfer rates when copying GB of data to them. This is several-fold slower than my older PNY flashes. So, while I will use them infrequently to create a backup copy (overnight) of my Photos, Music, and TV libraries, they are pretty much useless for backing up other, smaller folders or datasets on a daily basis.
As a point of comparison, I have had a more pleasant experience with a pair of 5 TB LaCie external USB C/Lightning disk drives, one of which serves as the Time Machine drive for the same MacBook Pro. I am seeing transfer rates of up to a few GB/minute with the LaCie hard drives, which is more in line with what I had hoped for with the PNY USB-C flash drives.

My OneDrive sync and graphics files were taking over my computer's harddrive. Rather than upgrading my SSID and risking taking it apart, I added this simple device and was freed of cramped drive space. Be aware that it is a Type-C USB connection; I had to buy a simple adapter.

Works well on Windows 10. Easy to use. I prefer the built-in dust cover so it doesn't get lost.

Works great, small footprint. Convenient for those of us who like to position other objects on the computer surface and not have to worry about jostling a swollen thumb drive sticking out too far.

As of now, it won't receive faster than 100kb/s. Incredibly slow. I've tried all formats, optimized it to run faster but nothing is working. It's not my pc or the usb slot as i've used other 3.0 hardware with speeds near 40mb/s.
Maybe it's a dud. I just know I'm not happy
