Customers are impressed with Pokémon's engaging gameplay, captivating story, and expansive Wild Area. Many praise the game's ease of use and accessibility, while also enjoying the open-world exploration and additional downloadable content. Some players, however, found the game's challenge level to be too simple and expressed concerns about the number of Pokémon available and the overall amount of content. Despite these criticisms, the positive feedback on various aspects of the game is significant.

I have played every pokemon game and man this one is up there! I'm an og that played through Kanto and really love sword and shield!! The graphics are insane and the story actually gave me chills and like I was heading into this intense final battle. The wild area is very cool and gives so much variety between playthroughs.

I've been waiting for Pokémon to finally come to the big screen (of the living room) for 20 years, and with Pokémon Sword, in no way have I been disappointed.
For context, I completed the original Pokémon Red/Blue games back in the day, and played some of the Pokémon games after, while skipping some generations entirely. Many people are upset that you can't catch or have every pokémon possible in Sword/Shield, but to be honest, this didn't bother me, because I thought you always had to start over and re-catch pokémon with each generation/installment. There is always the possibility that this is comes via game update/patch anyway.
The game systems have been streamlined to make things less tedious, like traveling, or switching out Pokémon between your party and storage boxes. There feels like there is a lot to do in the game. I have at least 45+ hours into the game, but only have 3 of the badges so far. I haven't tried out any of the multiplayer features, but hope to do that soon.
If you're a fan of Pokémon, this game is a no-brainer in my opinion. I'm curious to see how they advance the series in future installments!

This game is by far my favorite since Pokémon Red and Blue were released in 1996 and kickstarted the Pokémon revolution. Graphically and animation wise I would put this game up amongst the best looking on the Switch so far. Gameplay is easy enough for any beginner while the combat and styles offer a challenge that any turned based RPG fan can appreciate. The new and Pokémon and variations on some previous gen Pokémon make this game a real treat for anyone looking for anyone who have ever played any Pokémon game. The thing I like the most about it is how I can play on into a room dock my Switch and be back to playing without losing any quality graphically or from a gameplay aspect I would and do highly recommend this game to anyone looking for an adventure where exploring, collecting, and battling monsters or any mix of them.

I’ve been playing Pokémon video games ever since Platinum version was released and it’s fascinating seeing the improvement in graphics from generation to another. I can’t deny that battles have gotten easier to win over time, especially with features such as Dynamax and exp. points for the whole team after every battle. I think it can be more challenging if exp. points are turned off!

I haven't played a Pokemon since Diamond, and since I got a Switch, I figured why not try out this game. Pokemon has gone such a long way since it's older games. I'm pleasantly happy with this game. I wish the gyms were a bit more challenging, but other than that, the game is really fun.

My 8 year old loves this game as she is a huge pok-e-nerd. :P I, however, was irritated to find out I just spent another $60 on a games that is the same as the last one I bought (Pokemon Sword). It apparently is the same game/story with the only difference is that it has the other 'half' of available pokemon to play along with 2 new non playable "trainers'. Great game, but unless you bleed money, buy only one of the versions!

I haven't played a Pokemon game since the 3rd generation almost 20 years ago. Starting playing video games again very recently, after getting a Switch. Because of that, I had very few expectations for SwSh and wasn't bothered by the controversy around "Dexit." It's obviously changed, but the game is as fun for me now as an adult as it was the last time I played it as a kid. Wild area is a very welcome addition.

Close but misses the mark a touch...Caries on the Pokemon tradition you know and love while (slightly) stepping outside the mold to provide an explorable over world section, HD visuals, and an all around better presentation than its portable brethren. Very fun trying to catch the new roster of Pokemon ( designs are mostly great), here's hoping to a more radicalized take on the format next time!

It was great playing an open-world Pokemon game on the tv, and experiencing so many gaming aspects that I had been wishing for for decades, but the story fell short. Mainly, the "villains" failed to become the foil that previous teams (e.g., team rocket) were. It felt like the story was building to something that never came.

So nostalgic! Keeps a lot of the themes from the original game boy game but with an updated story line, new characters, and new Pokémon. If you enjoyed the original or if you’re new to the game I highly recommend!

You can read a lot about this game online or watch a review, but overall this game is worth the buy. I've played Pokemon since Generation 1 (Red and Blue) and continued to play over the years with the newer generations. So I am not a rookie, but an experienced player. This game is fresh and not another redo of a previous game. Plus you can now play on your TV with the Switch Grip Controller, that is a game changer right there (IMO). So yes, almost half of all the Pokemon are not in this game and some features have been removed from previous games, but don't let this setback be a deal breaker. The Pokemon Company finally has a platform to support better graphics and game-play. This game is a great step forward and I hope they truly listen to the fans and continue to push the envelope. Give it a try!

I have been playing Pokemon since gen 1, so I have some background for comparisons. I hate to knock characters that some people will love, but Hop is borderline insufferable. He gets beat up the entire game, and the way he dips in and out of depression and how it is handled is pretty rudimentary. He comes off as whiny and in need of the player character's pity throughout. I do think Sonya is a great change of pace as a young professor. Having said that, the story is extremely linear. There were no fun side dungeons like in gen 1, the story is not as captivating as the Unova or Alola, and dynamax is not as fun as mega evolution or Z-moves. I beat the game and ran through the end game content, but I have since moved on to other things. Great for Pokemon fans and newcomers, not quite in line with more dedicated fan base expectations, especially with the Pokedex controversy. I will say the wild area is a nice addition and probably where most hard core players will spend their time. It is still a fun game, but not at the top of my favorite Pokemon generation list.

This pkm game is fun but not the best out of al.of them. The best part of this game is the enhanced graphics compared to the older pkm games. It did feel a little shorter than the others but the game does do things different than the others like the wild area. Overall if your a pkm you'll enjoy this game.

It's a full Pokemon game for the Nintendo Switch. That alone should be reason to get it if you want to play a Pokemon game on the Switch. There are some fun mechanics and the open-world like areas are kinda fun. But this rival though...I do not remember ever having a rival I hated more. And not in the I hate this rival because he/she is the epitome of a challenge to my goal of being a Pokemon Master kind of hate. I hate this rival because he is by no means a worthy rival to a protagonist in an RPG. His lines feel constantly recycled, he fails to understand the basics of Pokemon combat, and he fails to generate any sort of sense of a "rivalry" from the player. Rivals of old: Blue, May, Silver, N. There are so much more compelling backstories and personality traits in the rivals of old that made you excited to find them and battle them. That excitement is completely lost here and I just wanted to enjoy the other parts of the game.

I've played all the Pokemon games from the beginning until now and I don't care about the national dex or the cutting of Pokemon from the game because I love playing Pokemon games and this is a very fun Pokemon game and can be at times very challenging especially when it comes to catching the Pokemon . I've already put over 20 hours in to this game to complete the gym challenges and only catched a little over 100 Pokemon and I'm not going to cry about it like other people that it wasn't the exact game I told gamefreak to make and this game is definitely a great start for gamefreak to improve on with graphics and adding more Pokemon to future games.
