This game was a nice step in the right direction of how pokemon games should be after playing arceus. Shiny hunting is easier with a certain sound cue and they don't despawn so thats cool if thats your thing. The battling is also unique and very fun. Reminds me of how it was in the tv shows. Either way, this game is awesome and I will be playing for many more hours to come. Highly recommended for any pokemon fans or even if you're new to the franchise (where have you been btw... jk)

Got this on a whim after hearing a few bad things about it, but I have played every Pokémon game, so I had to. I am enjoying it a good bit, but it does have some big drawbacks. There is no nature area (map is just the big city), live battle can make it hard to dodge, and photo mode with Pokémon in cafés can be ianky. Textures/model quality could be better, too, imo. Overall though it is fun, but made me miss legends of Arceus. Worth playing.

4/5 the new combat system takes a little getting used to but is an upgrade over the traditional rpg mechanics. Love the new mega evolutions only thing I wish they spent more time on is the "sprites" all of the 3d models just seem washed out with low saturation. Overall an enjoyable experience

Real time combat makes it a little different than legends arceus was. As is the loss of pokeball sniping from a large distance. I especially miss the fly jet feather balls from arceus.
Royale structure could have been interesting if they had kept with it but they quickly abandoned the naming theme for each letter rank match, skipped multiple letters and only have a handful of npcs in the royale that are equivalent to gym leaders, rivals and to a lesser degree elite 4 and champion.
Many of the wild zones where you catch pokemon don't list all the pokemon found there and some honestly I never had spawn period despite them being listed. Some pokemon aren't really found in them either only on rooftops or via side quests or the sewers/underground area. Speaking of its a shame the catacombs and sewers barely get used at all as well as abandoned/empty buildings. Had they done that the city would have felt far more large and varied than it was.
Traversal takes a big hit compared to all the other games. Sure you can quick travel to various locations once registered but otherwise its incredibly slow going with only a run option. No rollerskates, mounts, bikes hurt things. Oh and you never get surf which is extremely weird as every other pokemon game allows for traveling on water but this one. But without a proper flying pokemon option traveling between rooftops even with rotoms glide clunky feature leaves much to be desired.
Boss battles are far easier than arceus. Especially after you get all the charms so the player doesn't instantly faint and black out as much. Besides when targeted from alphas I only had 1 fainting spell from a hawlucha ambush after coming down a ladder. That thing never respawned either come to think of it. As I wanted revenge.

Best Buy makes getting last min needs easy, I was able to order this game for my brother online and pick it up the next day! He loved this game so much he convinced his friends to get it as well so they could all play together! Great purchase

I had my doubts, significant doubts, about this game. I didn't buy Pokemon Legends: Arceus because of them. But I have completely finished my copy of Violet and wanted the newest entry. Because I love Pokemon. It hits all the things I love in a game, and I could avoid the elements I don't like (they're there, but they're not required). I started with Pokemon Gold, and I've been playing since.
So, let's be clear. This is different than what I like, or what I want in a Pokemon Game. It's like Pokemon Go, only worse. There are elements I like - I like the flexibility to change moves and change names. I like the rewards for catching pokemon several times. I like some of the complexity. And there are meh things that are promising, but just don't float my boat. I like that looks aren't gender-locked, but the vast majority are feminine or genderless. I like masculine clothing. I'm sure there are other people who do. There isn't any, but there are very definite feminine outfits. Maybe it's the art style. I like that when you miss with a pokeball, you get it back. I don't like that you can miss. I like the number of quests. I don't like that so many of them are platform activities.
And I hate that you can be directly attacked by pokemon. I'm at the very end of the game; and I can't complete it. Because I am really bad at hand-eye coordination. And I've gotten stuck over and over in this game because a key element of the gameplay is that you have to dodge direct attacks. I got through the game by really overleving my team (and that's easy to do, so there's that), but of course now I have a team of 90+ trying to beat the final (technically post-game) thing, and there's nowhere to level to.
Yeah, the solution to my frustration is to "get good" as the kids say. But that's not my jam with Pokemon. So here's the summary: if you like platformers and games where you dodge and jump and run around the screen and you like Pokemon, you will love this game. I love Pokemon because I don't like games where you have to jump and dodge and run around to succeed, and this game ain't that. I should have bought Scarlet instead. I would have scared my cat less.

A fun and unique entry into the series that has taken an entirely new twist with its fast-paced combat. Any fan of Pokemon would likely be very entertained with just how immersive the world feels. Just know that competitive battling is much easier on Switch 2 due to its higher framerate.

I was skeptical at first because of the graphics being a let down. However, after playing and completing the game, it's actually really fun. The company was able to combine into this game what was great about Legends Arceus and their other main pokemon games together. My only complaint is that we can't pet or play with our own pokemons which is already a feature the old Pokemon games have.

Lots of fun. I didn’t get to play the other games with mega evolution so this is a change of pace for Pokemon. World is small but you get plenty of play time.

This is not going to fancy every single pokemon fan but once you go 3d for pokemon, then you are probably not going to back to turn base.
The combat and item gathering is rather fun to do, it gets you exploring the main world. You require battling at night, which is where you get a day and night shift. This occurring all the time can be annoying sometimes
