Pokemon Nostalgia

I remember getting Pokemon Blue for Gameboy and watching the first episode of the Pokemon anime way back when and this game takes me right back to those times. Pokemon Let's Go takes us back to a remastered version of the original Pokemon games with new co-op game play and mechanics from the Pokemon GO mobile game. The graphics and music are wonderful and I've enjoyed playing it with my family.

I purchased this game for my nephew for his recently purchased Switch so he could experience Pokemon for the first time. I have personally played one version of each generation, including the remakes such as this one. The Kanto pokemon will hit your nostalgia if you played Red and Blue back in the day on the Game Boy Color.

The pokemon series has finaly come to upgrade to the semi console instead of traditional 3ds games. The graphics are upgrade compare to the limitation of the 3ds hardware. The only complaint I have with this game is the pokemon go capturing system specially if you dont have the pokeball controller. Its kind wonky and you will miss a lot of pokeballs if you are using your regular controler

Let’s Go Pikachu vs. Evie

My son received, and had asked for Let’s Go Evie as a Birthday gift. When his friend got Let’s Go Pikachu he received a copy as well. While some of the characters are different (and not available on both games), the game itself is similar. My kid is happy and insistent that the games are different enough that he wants both. However, from a consumer perspective it seems like a shameless way for Nintendo to utilize a ploy to sell the same game twice but capitalizing on a kid’s wish to “catch em all.” Ugh. I would recommend in order to placate a child since they will like it. As a parent buying the game, I would stick with one.

I enjoyed playing through Pokemon Yellow again in this remake. This is the first Kanto Pokemon game released post-Gen IV physical/special split, which opens up a lot of previously non-viable pokemon and gives this game a unique feel. My one complaint is that Silph Co. and Cerulean Cave were grossly simplified which took away from the satisfaction in the later half of the game.

This is a remake of Pokémon Yellow version from the GameBoy and is actually quite nice, pleasant, relaxing to play. Pick this up if you need a Pokémon fix. It's link to Pokémon Go (the phone game) is quite cool too and you can get an exclusive Pokémon called Meltan when you transfer monsters. Let's Go becomes a kind of 'storage' for the iPhone/Android app and that is great too.

This is basically a remake of Pokemon Yellow with some slight changes. The updates are welcome and make the game less of a chore. Instead of random encounter battles with a million Zubats in Rock Tunnel, you now can simply run away from them if you don't want to encounter them because you can see them in the overworld. You also only catch random pokemon, rather than battling them.

To me this is a blend of classic Pokemon gameplay mixed with new elements of pokemon go. I like the exp. share from the get go. There are plenty of battles along the way to your next location to attain your next badge. You can actually see the pokemon you will be catching unlock random battles. Overall good game but I can't wait for Pokemon Sword & Shield.

Pick this up while it was on sale, perfect game to play with the family, wonderful remake of the classic yellow edition I use to play on the Gameboy as a kid, recommend picking up a copy if you're a Pokemon fan or wanting to get into it, graphics and controls make this title a winner

This review is for those that may be confused as to what you're getting with this entry. Many people seem to be confused and think that this is Pokemon Go but on the Switch. The only thing that has carried over from Go is the catching/fighting mechanic and the stats. Other then those things, its essentially like the older entries but with many improvements.
Leveling up Pokemon is mostly done through catching Pokemon as fighting doesn't yield much exp and you're only allowed to fight trainers. This is something that many will see as a set back as you no longer fight Pokemon to catch them. I agree with this sentiment and believe they should allow us to fight Pokemon.
Every stat can be maxed now and allows Pokemon that were once useless to be viable now. I personally like this change as the old glass canons and tanks limited what Pokemon were worth using.
Pokemon are now able to be seen in the wild and this brings the game that much closer to the anime series and brings lots of life to the series. There are no longer anymore random encounters as well. I think the game is very well done with some annoyances specifically the catching mechanic, but other then that its a game Pokemon fans shouldn't miss out. I hope this review gives you more insight into the game and helps you decide whether this game is for you or not.

My niece was absolutely in love with this gift, within the hour she was boasting about catching a Jigglypuff lol. As a 30 year old who grew up on Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow on a gray block Gameboy seeing the graphics and detail into this game I'm going to have to create myself a profile and go catch em all!!!

My grandson got this for his birthday and loves it! He has played some Pokemon games on the DS but just got a Nintendo Switch recently and was excited to get the game. This past year he watched an entire youtube video series on the game and now he gets to experience it himself. Highly recommended game for any Pokemon fan and the kids love it!

I did not realize this was a one player game, unless you have another switch and another physical game. A second player can join after about 15 min., but play is restricted as the 2nd player is only a helper. There is an option to use multiplayer online. To get the full experience, the kids play individually, but they love the game.

This game brings back my childhood memories when I first got into pokemon yellow version back in 1999. This game is just like the old one, with updated graphics and visuals of course and how nice for it to be on a portable console such as the switch. My only complaint is the controls for catching pokemon may be cluncky but hopefully they fixed that up with patch updates.

Going back to Kanto never felt so good. Pokemon is now mainstreamed, faster paced, easier, and more obsessive than ever.
Now, you're not encountering random Pokemons on the grass. You no longer get xp by battling Pokemons on the grass but by catching them. Catching Pokemons is also the faster way to get XP, compared to battling other trainers.
Really enjoying it.
